I get the impression you want Rex gone and as I believe 2014 is going to be a good season for us (and Rex) might be a double edged sword for you.
I'm old school too and winning the Miami game was sweet especially as we knocked them out of the POs, that IMO is gatorade worthy
I'm a Jets fan so I want the Jets to win first and foremost. I thought it was the right time to part ways with Rex after this season for several reasons I've already shared. I also find it silly that they celebrated winning a meaningless game to get to 8-8 like they won a ring, which is why I found the picture funny. I never hated Rex, some of my favorite Jets moments came with him as the coach. If Rex is the coach next year and the Jets are good, I'll be as happy as the next Jets fan. That doesn't mean that I'm not at a point where I'm very critical of Rex. Some people can't seem to handle the Jets players or coaches being criticized in any way.
We all want success and all have ideas how to go about getting it. The net result is the same though. I think the vast majority here, criticize when its warranted, but once again its also about opinions and acceptance . Just curious how do you know they were celebrating going 8 - 8 ?
Your not being critical your taking cheap shots, if you were being critical you would talk about his clock management issues or his issues with coddling his QB's but instead you take a shot at a celebration. You would think Jet fans would be happy that our players played with THAT much emotion in a completely meaningless game but instead we bash them for celebrating what they believe is a bright future.
They're on the field celebrating after an 8-8 season. What they were celebrating isnt relevant to me. They looked ridiculous. Didn't you think gronk looked ridiculous partying after losing the super bowl?
Do I understand your post correctly that U R saying that because other teams did not make the POs that is wonderful & terrific that the NYJs also did not?
The next Brady would be quite helpful. U have to remember so long as the Pats exist in our division we have to overtake them because if we do not we are falling behind
Champ doesn't offer predictions or suggestions, just sad faces. I'm still waiting to hear from him who he'd like as our HC
Should they have walked off the field with their heads down after winning a game against a divisional rival ending their season? Of course they should celebrate and the whole oh they were cheering like they won the superbowl you are greatly exaggerating.
I'm a Jets fan too, and like you, I don't celebrate a meaningless win at the end of a mediocre season, even if it does help knock a hated rival out of the playoffs (which to me is just small and petty), when it could actually hurt the team going forward. So there are situations (at the end of a season where the team isn't making the playoffs anyway) where I don't always want the Jets to win, so that they can have better draft position and most likely have a better chance of getting the players they need to help them get to the next level. Dropping from #11 to #18 in the draft is huge, I don't care what a lot of Jets fans think. A lot of Jets fans can't see past the end of their noses. All they can see and think about is the short term, or they get so caught up in something petty like revenge or beating a hated rival, that they lose sight of the big picture. The difference in the draft position in each round, can have a HUGE impact on the talent that the Jets are able to add and the holes that they are able to even adequately address, much less address in a significant fashion. I think rooting for such a meaningless win is putting short-term immediate gratification, over what is best for the team in the long run. At this critical juncture in Jets' history, having better draft position and getting better prospects (not to mention perhaps having a better ability to trade down and garner additional picks), would almost certainly have been more helpful to the team going forward than some satisfaction in beating Miami. While I didn't want the Jets to "tank" the game, I was hoping they'd play well and compete to the final gun, but that Miami would simply outplay them and win the game.
You thought the Jets were celebrating going 8-8 in the locker room? They clearly only got happy when Rex was announced he was still the coach. Your lack of understanding is astounding.
When you play in the NFL you can determine when you choose to utilize the Gatorade bath. I think these men have the right to determine when they can be excited about something and celebrate it any way they choose. Do you really want to take the position that you are the authority on when and how grown men should be able to celebrate?
That's pretty funny coming from someone that doesn't even know what we're discussing (not the locker room). Thanks for pointing out MY lack of understanding. LOL! Yes, I think am the ultimate Gatorade bath authority and any NFL player wishing to douse his coach needs to run it through me first. Let me make it more clear for those of you who can't seem to understand. MY OPINION is that it's ridiculous for a team to celebrate on the field with a Gatorade bath at the end of an 8-8 season that doesn't result in playoffs. Mostly everything I write on this site is MY OPINION. I am not an authority on anything I discuss here nor do I want anyone to think I am. I have the right to determine what I believe is ridiculous. When you are my daddy and I live under your roof you can tell me what I can and can't believe. Until then, feel free to share with someone else what you believe they can and cannot share their opinions on.
Pretty funny, check out the first paragraph from the Gatorade shower wiki page: I guess, unless you're the Jets and you just won a meaningless game. Sorry if you can't find the humor here.
of course you have that right, and when you exercise that right by judging and criticizing grown men for when and how they have decided to celebrate you are stating you are on authority on when and how it is appropriate to celebrate. qualifying that it is your opinion doesn't negate what having that opinion means. and in this case it means you believe you are the authority for when an dhow men should celebrate and when they do not celebrate appropriately it is worthy of criticism.
