Here's my first draft: 18WR JORDAN MATTHEWS, VANDERBILT 49 S LAMARCUS JOYNER, FLORIDA STATE 69 WR JARVIS LANDRY, LSU 80 OLB DEE FORD, AUBURN 111 TE C.J. FIEDOROWICZ, IOWA 142 S HAKEEM SMITH, LOUISVILLE 179 RB DRI ARCHER, KENT STATE 210 CB ROSS COCKRELL, DUKE
Thanks for this great site! Did anyone say draft offense? My second: 18 WR MARQISE LEE USC 49 WR ODELL BECKHAM JR. LSU 69 RB ANDRE WILLIAMS BOSTON COLLEGE 80 QB TAJH BOYD CLEMSON 111 OT JAMES HURST UNC 142 S HAKEEM SMITH LOUISVILLE 179 P KIRBY VAN DER KAMP IOWA STATE 210 TE MARCEL JENSEN FRESNO STATE

Here's what I came up with on my first attempt, obviously offense heavy in the early stages. 18 WR MARQISE LEE USC 49 TE AUSTIN SEFERIAN-JENKINS WASHINGTON 69 WR JARVIS LANDRY LSU 80 S CALVIN PRYOR LOUISVILLE 111 QB DAVID FALES SAN JOSE STATE 142 OG BRANDON THOMAS CLEMSON 179 OLB BOSEKO LOKOMBO OREGON 210 CB STANLEY JEAN- BAPTISTE NEBRASKA Even though I double dipped at WR I like the first five pick of this a lot, 6th & 7th picks are okay and my 8th (which was a 7th rounder) should have gone P or something but oh well. Maybe next time.

My second attempt and I have to say I would be more than satisfied with this: 18 WR SAMMY WATKINS CLEMSON 49 TE AUSTIN SEFERIAN-JENKINS WASHINGTON 69 OLB JEREMIAH ATTAOCHU GEORGIA TECH 80 S CALVIN PRYOR LOUISVILLE 111 QB DAVID FALES SAN JOSE STATE 142 OG BRANDON THOMAS CLEMSON 179 WR L’DAMIAN WASHINGTON MISSOURI 210 P KIRBY VAN DER KAMP IOWA STATE For the record with some of our compensatory picks I would considering drafter a KR/PR specialist and would likely pick up a few project guys and maybe another CB depending on what we do with Cro and obviously free agency is a factor. Just for a comparison I did a quick draft picking the BPA per the ranking system of this website (which, admittedly, may not be the best) as there has been some debate in the forums over picking for need vs BPA. So here's my BPA draft, let people decide which they would rather have. I know which one I prefer: 18 CB IFO EKPRE-OLOMU OREGON 49 OLB KYLE VAN NOY BYU 69 QB ZACH METTENBERGER LSU 80 RB CHARLES SIMS WVU 111 DT DOMINIQUE EASLEY FLORIDA 142 QB BRETT SMITH WYOMING Note: for the fifth round pick the order went QB Smith, CB Breeland, OT Wentworth, WR Ellignton. So if we did "BPA except at positions already drafted" (especially QB) then maybe Wentworth or Ellignton would make more sense. 179 C RUSSELL BODINE NORTH CAROLINA 210 OG ZACH FULTON TENNESSEE Overall: Ugh that's ugly. Grab an OLB but none of our other top needs: WR, TE and S.
Actually, you should have had two 3rd round picks, one coming from Revis. I'd love your first 5 picks too! Sign me up for that.
I agree about the BPA on that board. I was gonna do one of those, but quickly saw that it was gonna be ugly. DTs, DEs, Cs and CBs kept coming up as the top player on the site's board. I scrapped that draft. It would have done little to address team needs.
To compare the difference between who the Jets will have the chance to draft at #18 vs who the Titans will have at #11, I ran a couple of simulations drafting at the Titans' spot. Here's the draft: 11 WR SAMMY WATKINS CLEMSON 42 G DAVID YANKEY STANFORD 108 TE C.J. FIEDOROWICZ IOWA 139 S KENNY LADLER VANDERBILT 170 WR RASHAD GREENE FLORIDA STATE 205 RB DRI ARCHER KENT STATE In the 1st round, if the Jets were at #11 the Jets could have chosen from among Anthony Barr, Jadaveon Clowney, Sammy Watkins, and CJ Mosley, as well as players that have been available at #18 in some of my previous simulations like Ebron, Amaro, Matthews, Evans, Lee, etc. I took Watkins just because he's such a great WR prospect and the Jets desperately need a playmaker at WR (or any offensive position for that matter), but in real life, I think Idzik would not have passed on Clowney or Barr, as Clowney was the 2nd ranked player and Barr the 4th ranked player and Watkins lower. In the 2nd round, I got G David Yankey, whom I had not had the opportunity to pick in other drafts unless I had just really wanted an OG or Yankey in the 1st round and opted for him over Lee, Ebron and some of the others I have taken in round 1. The Titans evidently have no 3rd round pick much less two, so that hurt, but of course if it were the Jets drafting in that spot, the possibilities would have been excellent. They were much less at the #18 spot. Being able to get a Rashad Greene in the 6th round was unbelievable value. He was money in the Championship game, and adding Dri Archer in the 7th unbelievable. I think all those guys who think that draft position is meaningless need to run this simulator a bunch of times from both the #18 and #11 spots. That should convince them of the advantages of drafting higher and how that can be MUCH more important to the team than winning a meaningless game or two at the end of a non-playoff season.
Another draft from the #11 spot. YOUR PICKS 11 WR SAMMY WATKINS CLEMSON 42 S HA’SEAN CLINTON-DIX ALABAMA 108 OG ANTHONY STEEN ALABAMA 139 RB STORM JOHNSON UCF 170 WR KASEN WILLIAMS WASHINGTON 205 TE ASA WATSON NORTH CAROLINA STATE In the 2nd round, I could have opted for Tre Mason or Seferian-Jenkins, but they were a pretty good bit lower ranked than Dix, so I didn't reach. In the 3rd round, the Jets would have had the opportunity to draft players like Tajh Boyd, Attoachu, Pryor, Borland, Loston In the 4th, I could have reached way down and taken Feodorowicz, but took the top-rated player in Steen. In both the 5th & 6th rounds the top-ranked player was a RB. I'm not wild about Storm Johnson, but would have had to reach too much to add someone like Bruce Ellington at a position of greater need. In the 6th round, I did reach to add Kasen Williams. It makes me very sad that the Jets are drafting at #18 rather than at #11. They could have been adding a phenomenal amount of talent in this draft. Hopefully, they'll still be able to add some good talent, but won't be able to add nearly what they could have.
I liked the way this one turned out. 1. Johnny Manziel (QB, Texas A&M) 2. Austin Seferian-Jenkins (TE, Washington State) 3a. Jarvis Landry (WR, LSU) 3b. Dee Ford (OLB, Auburn) 4. Hakeem Smith (S, Louisville) 5. Jaylen Saunders (WR, Oklahoma) 6. Silas Redd (RB, USC) 7. Spencer Long (OG, Nebraska)
I like this, I'd jizz myself if our draft ended up like this 1) Mike Evans 2) ASJ 3) Brandon Coleman 4) Hakeem Smith 5) Ryan Groy 6) Stanley Jean-Baptiste 7) Tyler Gafney
No way Kelvin Benjamin actually falls to the 2nd round if he declares, right? I'd be tripping over myself to grab him at 18 personally.
My second dip: 18 (1st) TE ERIC EBRON UNC 49 (2nd) WR DAVANTE ADAMS FRESNO STATE 69 (3rd, a) OLB JEREMIAH ATTAOCHU GEORGIA TECH 80 (3rd, b) OLB ADRIAN HUBBARD ALABAMA 111 (4th) OT JUSTIN BRITT MISSOURI 142 (5th) OT JAMES HURST UNC 179 RB DE’ANTHONY THOMAS OREGON 210 P KIRBY VAN DER KAMP IOWA STATE =================================== Bold guys are the kind of guys I had to grab at that round. Too good a value [or so in my estimation.]
This site is dangerous, getting my unrealistic hopes WAY too high for a draft like this: R1 WR SAMMY WATKINS CLEMSON R2 WR KELVIN BENJAMIN FSU R3 S CRAIG LOSTON LSU R3 OLB DEE FORD AUBURN R4 QB AARON MURRAY GEORGIA R5 OG BRANDON THOMAS CLEMSON
R1 QB JOHNNY MANZIEL - TEXAS A&M R2 TE AUSTIN SEFERIAN-JENKINS - WASHINGTON R3 OLB JEREMIAH ATTAOCHU - GEORGIA TECH R3 G GABE JACKSON - MISSISSIPPI STATE R4 RB DE’ANTHONY THOMAS - OREGON R5 WR BRUCE ELLINGTON - SOUTH CAROLINA R6 S ANTHONY HARRIS - VIRGINIA R7 WR JEREMY GALLON - MICHIGAN That's how mine shook out. Didn't get the recievers that I wanted, I couldn't believe they were ALL gone by 18... and I'm not the biggest Manziel guy, but there's not a chance I'm letting him pass by for a Tight End. I thought I got some late round steals in Ellington (5th) and Gallon (7th)
