He's almost a sure fire lock for #1 pick in the 2015 draft, correct? Ok, I guess I'll start it off...Let the tanking begin.
Can't see this guy being a very good NFL qb. I think he is a product of a very talented team with very talented receivers. He is still young, so that maybe why I think it, but he just doesn't seem like the pro qb type. And this is coming from an FSU student lol Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
Same here brotha. Like I said. A product of a great WR group. Plus he won the Heisman. Other than Cam Newton, we all know what happens to Heisman winners as of the last ten or so years haha
Heisman winners as of 2000: Chris Weinkie Eric Crouch Carson Palmer Jason White Matt Leinart Troy Smith Tim Tebow Sam Bradford Mark Ingram Cam Newton RG3 Not a very happy list lol And if you look at just the QBs who won it, the list gets even scarier haha
Disagree heavily. Winston will be a very solid QB in the pro level. Guy is clutch, can scramble well, seems to usually always find the open receiver with ease, and has a good arm. Just too bad will be in no position to even come close to him in the 2015 draft.
Glad I'm not the only one. I feel like he will get scrutinized more next year when he is eligible kind've like what happened to Tebow honestly.
That's the same evaluation for almost every QB going into the draft. Manziel is the same way. Clutch as hell, always finds the open man, and does one hell of a job scrambling. Same assessment with many more guys that turned into NFL busts. There is usually something that just really sticks out with a college qb that gives you the glimpse of having the potential to be special in the next level. I just don't see that in Winston. Like I said, he's got an all star fleete of WRs and one hell of a running game. Couple that with a talented roster on all sides of the ball and anyone with any sort of talent could look good. Not to mention FSU played a lot of sub par teams this year. Even when they went into Clemson or beat Miami, the true colors of those teams showed in the end. They were not the teams they were thought to be. The only test he really had was against Auburn tonight. If it wasn't for a kick return and the defense coming up big for us, FSU would have lost that game and Winston had not done anything to provide that spark they needed.
Manziel is like 6 foot (if at that) and 200 pounds. Winston is like 6'4 and 230 pounds. Big difference there. Not to mention, Winston has a better arm.
Granted Winston is a big guy, but that tells nothing. Again, these are all things you point out that many guys before him had. Nothing he has separates him from the rest of the pack. Nothing. I go to FSU. I watch every one of their games and follow them close as anyone I know. There have been a handful, if any, of times where he has impressed me with throws. A majority of the plays are made by the receivers. That showed tonight. He threw many balls behind and over his targets. The game winning TD was even a toss up to a very very talented WR. I don't see it.
At this point, yes, but Mariota is right there with him. Things change constantly in college football so it's way too early to say for certain.
I'll say this, i thought he was better with his legs... he's got speed but he's more of a plodder, not very quick on his feet
But what will he do when he goes to the NFL and the talent level between his WRs and opposing CBs aren't so drastically different?
Dude he's a red shirt freshman, turned 20 yesterday!! What you see know is nowhere near the final product, he's going to get better and he will fine tune his skills. He's got all the tools, needs to improve footwork and accuracy but he's only going to Get better And one thing you can't teach are his intangibles and leadership, watching how a guy so young rallies the players around him is amazing
What? IMO Winston might have a stronger arm, but sure as he'll not a better one. He is a mediocre passer at best, a product of the talent around him. Manziel is far better at all aspects, including the evasive run, and it's light years smarter football wise.
Open up your mind and stop just seeing race, I'm so sick of black qbs all being categorized into these preconceived notions... Winston plays nothing like Vince young! NOTHING! !!! He does have similar traits to Cam, but is less of a runner and more of a natural pocket passer. I see similarities to Big Ben as well... But it's time to stop this nonsense with race, all these guys are different
