Looking again at the draft... man we could've gotten some decent talent at our biggest position of need.

    #39 - Geno Smith
    #41 - Robert Woods

    #72 - Brian Winters
    #74 - Terrance Williams
    #76 - Keenan Allen

    #141 - Oday Aboushi
    #144 - Kenny Stills

Man it stings... all of those WRs would've been very useful. I hope Winters develops into an at least solid starting LG because both Allen and Williams would've been absolute steals in the third round. I remember being so pissed when we passed on Allen, guy is big and runs great routes.

  2. It's tough to see those names float by. I think the Jets had the right idea though. WR was considered a weakness of last year's draft while OL/DL was the strength. Given the Jets shallow roster situation it only made sense to start building the team from the trenches outward & also take advantage of the draft's strength.

I really liked Terrance Williams last year..that said he had a lousy week of senior bowl practices. While a crisp route runner he seemed to have slow feet & was a bit of a body catcher. I think that scared teams like the Jets away.

Keenan Allen had a real fall from grace around draft time. He didn't have great measureables & had some health concerns.

This year's WR class blows away last year.Hopefully Jets can take advantage of that.

I think those team's offenses make them look better than they are. All of those players would have struggled on the Jets and with Geno except maybe Woods who ended up in a similar situation. But Williams had to step up into a number 2 role in a high powered offense, and stills is the 5th option in a high octane offense behind Colston, Graham, Moore, and sproles. Our offense is on its way and this is a much better year for WRs. I'd rather we overdraft them and see what sticks.

    1. With good offensive system in place, WRs are pretty easy to replace. Expect the same stuff to happen in this year's draft.

    2. Does the Jets have that? Simply put, NO. These guys would have been called 'Stone hands', 'Can't-get-Separation', or worse yet, 'Bust' of a pick if they had the unfortunate fate to come to the Jets this season.

    3. This offense is still rebuilding - I don't even think this Geno kid is the answer at QB either. The correct way to build the offense is to build from inside out - that means building the OL first. Jets are still doing that. Give it some time.

I was pissed when we took Winters over Allen, Williams, and Bailey. At that time we signed Petermen or whatever so I didn't understand it all hopefully Winters turns into something but we could've grabbed another FA guard. Another guy we missed out on was Rodgers from the colts but we took Campbell a defensive tackle to play guard instead.

Keenan Allen stings real bad. Not as much as Jeffery, but enough to make me cringe a little.

Thing is all those receivers were really good in college. It wasn't like they were projects (Hill).

And this is why you don't throw away 3rd, 4th, and 5th round picks to trade up.

With all the picks we got this year, and a deep draft for WR, I hope we can get some nice weapons for Geno.

U can go back every year and do this with other positions as well, fact is ill take our draft every time because it was most what was needed then. What if we didn't pick Richardson at 13 then we would be nitpicking how we could've gotten him at #13. Drafts will never be perfect. This years WR is crazy deep and we should be able to get some good value all throughout the draft whenever the Jets feel like they need to address the position.

none of those WRs are super special players. you can get the same kinds of guys in the nd or 3rd round of every draft.

and what does WR matter when you have nothing at gaurd and no QB to get him the ball?

    we made the right choices

i would hope that the jets braintrust knew this going into last years draft and kept that in the back of their minds - hey the 2014 draft is gonna be deep at the WR spot so lets not get crazy in here.

Like someone else said, you could do this every year for every position. It sure does sting though.

We a franchise WR and a TE out of this draft. With Nelson breaking out this year and Kerley being so reliable we could easily be one of the scariest offenses in the AFC.
