Take that to the bank Barry...our schools in nnj called us 6pm. With Christies state of emergency...I cant think of one school that could open in Jersey tomorrow. thunder and lightning reported outside of philly a few minutes ago during heavy snow...thunder snow..its the real deal..and when that happens, its a signal that the storm is now exploding off the coast. I would say that everything is on the table now...and we are about an hour from the storm really taking off...accumulation wise.

Weather weenies in a forum I visit are crying because NW Jersey is not getting big snows yet..some in Passaic county too. Still think it fills in..we shall see.
YOU ARE CORRECT Jay,,,,not snowing hard in Rockland,,,,steady but not heavy,,and not large flakes,,,,will go out in a while and check it
If you go out around 11pm..it will pick up looking at radar...if it hasnt happened already cbg...the radar showing Morris county, warren,sussex about to get heavier snows. The heavier snows are crawling north..but coming.
Jay does that mean larger snow amounts that it is crawling or does that mean they are just having a hard time getting North ?

very hard time getting north..but what I am trying to explain to the know it alls in the weather forums..is that if the models tell you the hardest snows will be from 11 to 4am..and its 10pm and you (not you my buddy cbg..them) are bitching that you will not get more snow..you cant call bust before the party is supposed to start. If you go to a play that starts at 8...and sitting in your chair at 7 you turn to your partner and tell her that this sucks..its boring..and nobody is here..who is the moron? This storm like all storms will bust for some...but they cant bitch about something that was modeled to be there yet. SOOOOOO...my point for this friendly group and the reason I do not have a blog...yet..is the radar is moving north with heavier precip. The blizzard like winds that were projected for 11pm or midnight havent even started yet. This will eventually pick up big time...whether the predictions of 6-12 happen..not sure. Still think this ends up closer to 8 or 9 for us..and near a foot or more for Long Island. Hudson Valley might suffer...but even there..impossible to judge at this point. By 1am the bust areas will become visible..but this storm is still in its infant stage. Hope that all made sense bud!! lol.
left work, decided it was a losing battle, left a guy to run the plow in case of emergency, roads are tough right now, glad i didn't wait any longer. it seems to have settled into a good snow, nothing crazy with the winds either, feel like we are going to skate through with just a decent snow up here. edit: lol and after i posted this i read jays last post, in my defense i am a jet fan. no one calls bust faster than us.
hmm...could be. The winds are about to get cranking in a big way fjf. Whether or not the hard snows get up there is another question..but the blowing snows and the fast freeze dropping temps are 1 or 2 hours away from you. Im happy you are home though bud!!!!..you deserve it..you work your ass off.

Yes...have mentioned that at some point on monday...temps will go from around 50 to 25 in a matter of several hours. Major flash freeze after..AFTER hard rain..melting of this snow. Again, an event that is highly unusual. Weird winter that Im sure has another 3 or 4 surprise storms that are rare in nature. Steadier snow heading your way in the next hour. By me, snow has picked up and finally...winds are picking up big time...the next 4 to 6 hours will be very interesting...good or bad. And for the millionth time, tomorrow..the temps..blowing snow...very uncomfortable day. Jonny said a few days ago how anyone could enjoy this stuff. My son and I were just outside walking around and I turned to him and said stop...it was snowing...standing in the middle of the road..and I asked him what do you hear? He said nothing...I said exactly. Nothing. Quite and peaceful. Thats what I love about this stuff.
