Thanks Jay Jay, I signed up for the sole purpose of your updates. Just curious, any idea what the future holds for metro west-Boston.
just watching other airports around the country and their delays mounting...going to be a problem WB...pretty sure of it..major delays for JFK tomorrow bud..major.
Welcome aboard M...thats great to hear. Just curious..how much snow do you have now. A rare phenomenon is going on in parts of MASS with ocean snows...the real cold air coming off the ocean with the high winds producing snow not even associated with the main storm. Essex Mass? Are you far from there? They have 18 inches of snow already...incredible..and its not even the storm but the winds from the storm. There will be areas in Mass because of the ocean snows and then the real storm that get near 30. I would say for your area, you would be looking at close to a foot give or take a couple..but again..the winds up there tomorrow...brutal day tomorrow even after the storm. I think your mayor and governor will be telling people do not..DO NOT drive and stay home. Again..have said this a few times. All the rhetoric you are hearing would usually be associated with a storm dropping over 2 feet of snow. This is a very rare event with hard snow...very windy..and the key...single digit temps...more likely to be seen in Alaska than our areas. Here is your local forecast for you area. This will also help you keep updated LINK: http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClic...p=1&searchresult=Boston, MA, USA#.UsYP-9izKko
FJF..around 10pm..my guess is you will measure 2 inches...11..3....12....4...1 am...5 or 6...those hours and beyond will be the big numbers...coinciding with the strong winds. I know your job bud...be careful tomorrow and dress for it big time.
NYC has to see at least 10..this is one of the rare times that the heating from the city concrete will not help...streets will be horrible tomorrow. NYC infrastructure will not help with this storm.
http://www.wunderground.com/radar/r...min=2&num_stns_max=9999&avg_off=9999&smooth=0 Ok..if you check out this radar you can see why we were talking about areas EAST of i95 will do better than those west. You can see the lighter greens and yellows running EAST of i95. Banding is setting up and parts of the northern Jersey shore along with NYC...all the boroughs...and points east..wow to L.I. Still think L.I...you know, I havent really checked what the NWS is predicting there but Im going to check now but I cant see how they all do not get into double digits in inches..and many in the teens. Checking now.
Coastal flood warning for N.J. Something we havent talked about with high tides. Just checked central L.I.? Blizzard warning but 6-10? Might be missing something there but that sounds low. No rain mixing in...i really think closer to a foot.
Im sure many know in NJ but a state of emergency has been declared. Christie telling people stay off roads tomorrow. Again..storm will end in morning and this is not a huge storm accumulations wise. Major blowing and drifting of snow will make things pretty rough out there. Just checked long range models and nothing really has been showing up big...until just now...around January 15th. Nice setup...but for another day.
storm finally offshore and the pressures dropping...everything seems to be on time for a 10 to 11pm increase in NNJ and even NYC. NYC has been getting decent rates for about an hour now..but that will increase in a big way around 11. Alabama turnover..first play..td Ok. tied. Great.
hey jay, how am i looking up here for the next 2 hours. i am at 4" at 1/2-3/4" an hour. goona get worse or stay this constant?
You have 4 already fjf? Wow..way ahead of schedule. I would think things should increase for you a bit in a few hours..the downside is that you will start to taper off earlier than the rest. Snow ends Northwest to southeast for us. I think you will be sitting at 7 or 8 by midnight...the question is what happens to the Hudson Valley after that. Only the radar will be able to tell us that and its easy to see...we will monitor that much later.
Im sitting at 2 now..but I had 0 at 6pm..so its been between an half and 3/4 an hour since..again..rates should double in the next 2 to 3 hours. HOPEFULLY. We talk bust sometimes..and some will bust..at some point, those on the northern fringe of the heavier snow will begin lighten..and when it does its over. We shall see.
heavy snow...and I mean heavy snow falling around LBI right now. Jersey shore getting hit real hard right now.
Back from the airport and hunkered down for the duration. There was absolutely nothing at JFK until about 6:30, but at that point it started going. The Southern State Parkway was moving coming back from the airport, but it was tough to see the lane markings already.
Atlantic City too..check out this radar. The image lightens at the end so ignore..but you can see the Jersey shore is getting at least 2 inches an hour right now LINK: http://www.wunderground.com/radar/r...abel=you&showstorms=0&showlabels=1&rainsnow=0
