I will tell you this drew, the models keep huge precip fields right off the coast of NYC by about 20 miles..just 20 miles. Brooklyn NY? Your areas and areas over long island could be a surprise. I will say this, would not surprise me at all if very eastern L.I. could get close to 20..now how close that line comes back towards the city? There will be busts..there will be major overperformers..while that happens with all storms this storm has major potential to overperform for some.
so it has been snowing since atleast 630 a.m. and there is barely 1" on the ground. weird. thought it was about to come down around 1, flakes got bigger and steadier but still no accumulation. very strange today
Jersey 12 Weather has Monmouth County getting 5-8" tomorrow. I'm hoping my job in Somerville cancels tomorrow because I've got an hour commute under normal good conditions, can't imagine what it will be like driving through this beast.
fjf...that was the gameplan all along. Thursday all along was a nothing...the real storm for those down south has begun..heavy snow in DE/MD entering south jersey..and headed north..about 2 to 3 hours away.
yeah cman..again on the south of the bigger numbers..but that sounds good bud. Storm is beginning to CRANK to our south now...CRANK...this is going to be a real tough night up here..and tomorrow..the blowing snow will be brutal.
Just tested the generator,,,,,first try it turned right over,,,that's a good thing ! Just started snowing here about 10 minutes ago,,very lite, my kids friend goes home in 10 minutes and it is on that trip that I must make a crucial stop,,,,,,,I forgot marshmallows for my sons marshmallow gun and my hot chocolate
and...we are offfffffff.....here we go...expect precip to pick up gradually each hour. What I will do tonight is give you guys heads up when heavy precip and winds are about to enter your area. I pretty much know everyones location..lol. NWS is sticking with a general 5-8...Im going more like 6-10..except hudson valley add 2 to each number. Still thinking Long Island is going to be a real shocker...that baby sticks out like a porn star on Viagra. It will get hit hard with snows and winds...flat out blizzard.
good job cbg...i think we should make it generator free here...but good move anyway. Keep it ready for the flooding and winds Sunday/MONDAY. OK..YOUR BEST FRIEND TONIGHT BESIDES ME..MUCH BETTER THAN ME..IS THIS LINK. The higher the dbz...the more winds and heavier snow. Now too the left and right and top and bottom you will see nothing...this is an exact radar for our areas so it does not mean nothing else is there. USE THIS...IT WILL HELP: link: http://www.wunderground.com/radar/r...ford,+NJ&showstorms=0&showlabels=1&rainsnow=0
dont know if drew is around...but in brooklyn? I would issue a blizzard warning with the latest soundings...drew...enjoy the day off bud! In fact everyone north of central pa and central nj..enjoy the day off tomorrow.
My office called it today around noon. 3 day weekend! Let it snow! Gonna spend the night relaxing with a cold one watching it come down out the window. Cheers.
yes..will go from around a half inch an hour stuff until around 10pm..then an inch an hour after that...the blowing snow will start around??? I would think after 11pm...midnight? Thats when the fun starts. Of course for those that are home and the good thing is the timing..great most if not all are home.
damn...disregard that radar above..here is a better one. Check out the yellows on the nj/pa border..thats heavy snow: http://www.wunderground.com/radar/r...min=2&num_stns_max=9999&avg_off=9999&smooth=0
Do you see it clearing for tomorrow late afternoon? My wife is flying out of JFK around 7:30PM but my mom or sis will be driving her out there around 5:30 Trying to figure out if I will have an extra day or so of a quiet house
The big problem tomorrow for you WB is two things...blowing snow from the ground and perhaps delays from the morning not catching up yet. I think that time should be fine. As far as snow falling from the sky? I would think by 9am it should be done for everyone except perhaps eastern LI on northward. Oh..JFK..hmmm...that might be a problem bud. Newark should be fine. That is something you need to monitor first thing in the morning. This setup? I really think areas in Long Island will get hammered..plus the winds will be brutal. Thats a first thing in the morning online check I would make with the airlines. So many other things come into play too. If you guys get a foot of snow..possible...roads? Tough call. Newark is an easier bet.
http://www.wunderground.com/radar/r...min=2&num_stns_max=9999&avg_off=9999&smooth=0 during the night..will be posting radar every so often..it the best way to see whats coming your way. Higher dbz rating on the left will tell you harder snows.
