http://walterfootball.com/draft2014.php I WOULD love it if it panned out like this. Jace Amaro in the first, Davante Adams in the second and Odell Beckham and Ty Zimmerman in the third. the only thing I would change is Deone Bucannon instead of Zimmerman who they mocked a few picks after us.
I've been checking there every few days. It's my favorite mock site, so this is exciting. Sent from my VS920 4G using Tapatalk
I'm not sure about Adams, he's a big but how much of his success was because of his QB? He's got first round production but the MWC was really bad this year.
One pick after Allen Robinson is drafted =( Really want that guy on the Jets. Dude thinks Antonio Allen isn't a starting SS in this league, which I find to be bullshit.
Yea, i tend to like walterfootball, but one thing that bothers me is the descriptions they write as to the reasoning for each selection. They tend to be inaccurate and they've been copy and pasted throughout the year, never any fresh commentary
Wouldn't be a bad draft. That site also has us taking James Winston with the number one pick next year FWIW.
Get the fuck out of here. Just because Geno may or may not be the answer doesn't make us a 4 win team, a 4 win drop-off from this season. I don't know what you guys are thinking, but if we can get serviceable weapons on the outside - we are going to win 10 games. This dude's mindset is now questionable at best.
Most of those comments have not changed in weeks. While Walt and Charlie both do say off the wall shit at times, they both put out a 3 round mock on a weekly basis. Sure they are not pro scouts, but they are as entertaining as any of the paid talking heads out there.
Dude is a beast. Can do it all and if we somehow get him in the 2nd we should all be beyond happy. Very similar player to Alshon Jeffery- great at playing the ball in the air. Right now he's my #3 WR...
I think he has the highest ceiling among the WRs of this class.....but the games I see of his, he still didn't have his route running down to form. He's a project....sadly we have another project that is of the same mold named Stephen Hill. (Adams is more far along as a WR than Hill because of the systems Fresno St and Ga Tech ran)
That was mocked up early December during our losing streak. They'd still be foolish to think we'd finish with the 1st pick by next year. Walterfootball is a nice site but some of the stuff like its game recaps are lousy. He really feels Milliner was getting abused these past 2 games.
I dont think I would really call Adams a project. He may need to clean up a few areas, but I dont really doubt that he can contribute in year 1 or 2.
Ah ok, only thing I really get from that site are prospects I've never heard of that I would like to check out on tape or something.
I'd love Amaro and Adams back to back. After that I think that Walter Football guy has a screw loose. His third round (Jets with two picks): 3a - #69 Odell Beckham, WR/KR-LSU 3b - #80 Ty Zimmerman, FS-Kan.St. 3a: if Odell Beckham is still available at #69, I'll eat my hat. No way a guy with his talent isn't a late 2nd at worst. 3b: Ty Zimmerman (FS-Kan.St.) projected pick by the Jets at #80 with Deone Bucannon (SS-Wash.St.) projected to be picked by the Browns 3 slots below at #83? Zimmerman's a meh athlete (read: Eric Smith) with so-so speed esp. for a FS and a 4-5 rounder imo. Buchanon as a SS hits like a truck (though a bit of a 'launcher') and relative to his position is imho a grade above Zimmerman, a 2-3 rounder.
Speaking of the draft in general, I think some things are screwy. Bortles is likely to stay in school. Tajh Boyd dropping to late 3rd round? I don't think so. I think most any Jets fan would love the draft if they got a stud TE prospect and two excellent WR prospects with their first 3 picks. Personally, I'd prefer Ebron over Amaro. Ebron is a better blocker and more athletic. I also think I would prefer Jordan Matthews over Davante Adams. I wouldn't quibble too much, however, as I'd be pretty much equally happy with Matthews, Adams, Beckham Jr., Landry, or Cooks in the 2nd round. That said, if Tajh Boyd is still there in the 2nd, the Jets might have to take him, but they certainly would in the 3rd. I'll have to do some research on Zimmerman and Bucannon. There might be other safeties I'd prefer more here (Hakim Smith or Pryor of Louisville).
While I don't agree that he's a project I also think his numbers are extremely elevated by the fact that he played with Carr and an extremely weak MWC. UNLV statistically was the best pass defense in the MWC and his night against my Rebels? 4 TD receptions inlcuding a 75 yarder and 220 yards. I think he could be a good player but I don't view as our #1. Maybe someplace else with a more polished QB but I think our situation would not be good for him much like ours hasn't been good for Hill. I really think it would depend where he lands, if he goes to a place like SD or Carolina with an established QB he could be really good but I think you put him in a place like Buffalo or with us and he'll disapoint.
I dont really see why he cant succeed here. Obviously every WR would prefer to go to a team with an established QB, but they can still succeed elsewhere. Talent is everything, and I think Adams is extremely talented. A mix of Alshon Jeffery and Michael Crabtree. Very fluid athlete, good size, and most importantly can high point the ball and catch with his hands. Ive never gotten the impression that his route running is pour, but Im sure it can use work just like all rookie WR's. He might not put up 900-1000 yards his first year, but I think if the QB play improves, by year 2 he can really come along. I dont think we could ask for a better 1-2 punch than Amaro/Ebron + Adams.
