This is spot on. Of course, everyone on this board would take Bridgewater over Smith straight up. That's a given. But what most folks are saying is that that the outcome doesn't justify the cost. Just think about it. In order to move up to #1, the Jets would be Ditka'ing the '14 Draft, plus taking talent from the current roster (think a combination of Kerley, Mo, Coples, Richardson), plus parts from the '15 and possibly the '16 Drafts. It's just too much for one piece.
CRAP! I must have missed it, too. All those games TB threw into NFL coverage while NFL linemen and blitzers came to dismember him. Haven't you seen enough "guaranteed" NFL stars (TT) fall by the wayside?
I'm gonna make this last post in this thread, then I'm done with it. If you've seen Teddy play much at all, you've seen that he is excellent at reading Ds, makes excellent decisions, is amazingly calm and poised in the pocket, has very solid/great fundamentals, has a very quick release, has good escapability and mobility when pressured, is very accurate and can fit the ball into tight windows when need be, even on the dead run, has a strong arm, can make all the throws and has great touch as well. To boot, he's very athletic and a pretty good runner for someone who hasn't done it much since high school. He looks to pass first and foremost. Perhaps most importantly, he makes players around him better. Stafford has a great arm, but that's it. He makes lousy reads and decisions, and is careless with the ball. Saying that he's already better than Luck may be hyperbole on my part, as I've seen Teddy play more than Luck, and in those games, Teddy looked better to me. I could be wrong. Even if I am, I don't think Teddy is far behind Luck. I think the big difference is that Luck got a lot more national exposure and played against better competition, whereas Teddy has had less exposure and not played against as tough a level of competition. IMO those two things don't necessarily make one player better than another. Teddy can't help who Louisville plays. I've seen the talent he has and the calmness and confidence he plays with. A couple of years ago I hadn't heard of Teddy. I started hearing other Jets fans rave about him last year and started watching him as often as I could and have been made a believer. I can't see him struggling against a tougher level of competition. He made Florida's D look bad last year in the bowl game last year and Florida had a great D then. I know there's zero chance the Jets will get him in the draft, and I still am high on Geno's potential, but that doesn't mean I won't be disappointed that the Jets can't get him, just as I was disappointed when they missed out on JJ Watt and a lot of other great prospects in past years, and will be disappointed when they will miss out on Watkins and many other players in the 2014 draft.
