Maybe we ignore WR this year and end up with a big time free agent and a # 1 draft pick at WR in 2015.

Patience can pay off as long as you are making good decisions.

Safety and Corner I feel are way more pressing needs than OLB.. Pace more than held his own this season.. We need a stud to replace Ed Reed and we don't know how Cromartie's hip is going to play out.. I sure as hell don't want Wilson lining up opposite of Milliner.

Jets should go WR 1st round and TE in 2nd.. We need weapons bad..

Orakapo is a very good player. I'd love to have him.

If it came down to him or a legitimate offensive weapon, i'd take the offensive player.

Pace may not replicate this again next year. Plus Barnes can't stay healthy. We need an OLB.

I'd go Safety in round 3. I think we are okay at corner. Another year for Milliner plus Cromartie getting healthy and I think we should be fine. If we do draft a corner it should be in the later rounds.

I don't know about Cromartie.. I know his hip is not 100% but his footwork is horrible... He has relied on his athletic ability which was ok when he was younger but he does not possess that same speed as he once used to.. Guy is constantly getting beat.. Hopefully it is the hip which caused this considerable drop off, but I think it is more than that.

He's been hurt this year. I'd give him another year. We still have Aaron Berry coming back next season, plus Kyle Wilson and Walls. I think we're okay at corner IMO.

I'd say no to big money to Orakpo. LB is NOT a glaring weakness...we are at least a little better than average at that position. Navarro Bowman of the 49'ers was a 3rd round pick...enough said. WE can get an all world LB'er in the draft and save the big change for an ALL World TE/WR FA that will be far more of a team impact than a LB'er would.

I dont see how we have the money for him, unless you are thinking of cutting cro and using that 9.5M in cap savings on orakpo.

We have cap room, but we also need to sign/resign:

    2 starting offensive gaurds
    1 starting offensive tackle
    1+ starting Wide recievers
    1 Starting Tight end
    1 Starting Safety

then also extend wilkerson, and sign reseserves at S, LB, DT, QB

i dont see us having the luxury of spending 9-11M per year on a defensive player

If Orakpo signed here, does that Geico caveman boy have to come with him?

Pace played pretty poorly overall. dont let the 10 sacks fool you. he was basically a guy who only played(or played acceptably) on 3rd downs. and of those 10 sacks, not many had much impact.

id say he needs to be cut, or brought back strictly for a 3rd and long package/depth

Orakpo would solve our OLB problem if he could stay healthy. If he was reasonable I don't see how he makes the team worse. But I want to put what we can towards offense, all resources need to be focused on improving the talent-level of this offense.

I'm in agreement. Orakpo would definitely help this defense BUT it is not the best usage of Jets salary cap. Would prefer to go one tier lower and save the $$$. Redirect it towards the offense which is gonna need more than just one or two rookies to improve.

WAY to early to be talking FA, Lets let the dust settle and focus on the draft for a while.
Sign who needs to be signed and wait for the cuts to happen. With all the coaches getting
fired I'm sure there are going to be players looking for a save landing spot.

The secondary issue is so overblown in my opinion. Do you know how many times the defense was put in a shitty position because of the offense? Way too many times. And even still we fielded the 11th ranked defense with our so-called "shitty" secondary. Our D-Line is a menace and Milliner will only get better. Go offense all the way rounds 1-3. THAT is the most glaring of issues.

Agreed. Milliner is moving in the right direction, Cro will restructure his contract to stay, he's a good #2. Even Wilson was pretty solid this year in the slot. If we draft CB, it HAS to be late round. I'd much rather take safety or OLB, but offense has to be priority at this point. I like that we have 4 picks in the first 3 rounds. We can cover a good amount with early picks. I'm excited for this coming draft.
