I'm OK with this, but they had better draft some WR's. Geno need offensive weapons to work with.

The most surprising thing in the email: I'm a VALUED NY Jets season ticket holder? I had no idea! :)

    I agree with you.

Idzik made the decision to keep Ryan and his offensive coaches when he drafted a QB.

Rex needs an extension or to me this is detrimental to us bringing in FA's

Is it that hard to fathom that just maybe Idzik wanted Rex as head coach in 2014? Are you people serious? Why does it have to become a woody Johnson debate? Why can't it just be that both Woody and Idzik felt Rex was the guy for the job, so they are keeping him as the head coach?

This fan base looks stupider and stupider by the minute

He writes this letter to keep ticket holders. He thinks Jet fans have this love affair with Rex. Period.

While I think Rex deserves to stay at least another year with more talent, I do not believe for ONE SECOND..NOT ONE SECOND...that Woody kept Rex ONLY because the job he did.

If a huge name coach that would sell more tickets than Rex came out of the woodwork and secretly told Woody he wants the job, Rex would be outta here faster than you could raise ticket prices.

Its all about ticket prices RIGHT NOW. Im sure that day will change when the Jets start to be even more of a draw but right now, filling that stadium is number 1.

Why did Woody make the announcement to the team and to the media? Woody's a clueless putz. I despise him as much as I do Hess.

That's why I hope Woody goes broke and is forced to sell the team. He doesn't have a clue what he's doing. If Idzik is a co-worker with Rex rather than his boss, then this officially verifies that Rex has TON of input into the draft, if not final word, and that Rex is as responsible for the mess the team is in talent-wise as Tanny is. Also if that is true, Idzik will probably stay just long enough to have a few good drafts and FA periods, and with the next GM opening on another team, he will be gone and tell Woody to shove it.

So you wizards think a letter to the season ticket holders should come from the GM?
Get freaking real...After the shit he got from the fans for ticket prices, luxury boxed, PSLs, Tebow etc etc. The letter shows he took OWNERSHIP for some of the drama and complimented Rex and Idziks leadership in behalf of the team.

Some of you can't stomach the fact Idzik values having Rex as a coach. He surpassed everyone's expectations in a miserable transition year.

You want a douchbag owner, NY fans need to look no farther than Dolan and the Knicks. LOL

The letter says Idzik is in charge. Plain English.
I would want the GM working closely with the HC

Woody also says he's keeping Rex at least in part because of his passion for the Jets
Woody gets it in this regard

Sorry, but you seem to be the one with the reading comprehension problem, because the way it is written, it indeed states it that Idzik works with (for) Rex not vice-versa. Now maybe Woody didn't mean for it to come across that way, but that indeed is how it is written. He's such a clueless tool, it wouldn't surprise me that he failed English in school.

I agree, and if I were Rex if I didn't get one I'd be the F out of here.

Until HC becomes a disastrous headache, Idzik needs to just focus on getting talent on the field.

he's the owner, it is his role to write to the season ticket holder.

I especially love how you bold the "I hired," but then conveniently do not bold "our carefully-considered decision."

of course it fits your agenda to take his declaration literally that he was the driving force in hiring Rex, and obviously attempt to project some greater meaning to it as to why Rex is coming back, rather than the more likely interpretation that, at the end of the day as the owner, Woody is the person that hires everybody because they all work for him.

nothing in that letter even remotely insinuates that Idzik is merely a figure head. if you weren't a mod and if you haven't been so vocal about your agenda against Rex this thread would be trashed as trolling because there isn't an ounce of reason in your post.

Guys..there are two philosophies. One has no problem with an owner who is involved in things he shouldnt be. The other likes an owner to be involved in well...being an owner.

Both sides will never agree. My problem isnt as much the letter as it is with Woody announcing Rex will be the coach next year. Im really sorry if that offends some...but I like my GM to be the front man so I know who is making the decisions...so I can blame him.

I do not want to think my owner had anything to do with bringing in crap like Tebow. I do not want to think my owner has anything to do with bringing in guys that sell tickets over winning.

Not losing sleep over it...I just like my GM making all the decisions...from HC's down. While I am trying to believe Idzik wanted Rex...and I guess I do believe that...I wanted my GM to make that announcement. I think thats tough for some to swallow and thats ok.

Quick edit: Some also might find that trivial or nitpicking. I have seen too many teams go down the road this way until an owner finally gets how a team should be run. I really do not think its nitpicking at all.in fact its a big deal to some.

Its just a difference of opinion.

That's not the way business is conducted; major developments are always announced by the CEO. Assuming you work for a corporation or own stock in one, who do you want informing you of vital business decisions, the Human Resources Director or the CEO?

Yup, and since when does I informed the team of OUR decision mean that Woody made the decision by himself? That's just searching for evidence of a crime that just isn't there.

Do you think that the words "with" and "for" mean the same thing?
