Nice redneck remark, you have a problem with Staten Island? I've never lived there but my in-laws have relatives there and it's a perfectly fine working class borough. Some real people living life as it should be, yet you dump on them. Don't you have some current soon to be ex Jets you should be wasting your time dumping on instead of Staten Island? Stay classy. _
Bridgewater has a quicker release but Geno is more accurate and his release isn't slow. Hard to say who makes better decisions as I really don't know how Bridgewater's receivers, line, etc compare to what Geno had in college. I kind of think Geno is better than Bridgewater but not sure. They're definitely close enough that drafting Bridgewater would be a really bad idea. Would be extremely surprised if they did.
This thread is like watching two 10 year olds argue on the playground. And those of who think you can accurately evaluate college football QBs when they are still in college and predict NFL success or failure are full of shit.
Never been to the mods here and I don't do PMs with stalkers. Why don't you go make some more childish attackers on current Jets? Again, do NOT PM me again. But have fun crying to the mods, that which you are accusing me of and which I've never done. You and sg3 are a perfect team. _
This whole thread is nonsense. The last thing in the world the Jets should do is trade away picks for anybody. With a roster as talent depleted as the Jets we need every pick we can get to infuse some talent. History tells us that a % of picks will never pan out or even make the first roster, which is why it is imperative we have as many as possible. This is one of the main reasons our special teams completely suck this year is not only are our starters not the cream of the crop but we have absolutely no quality in our depth players either.
It's not a prediction on who will be better in the NFL, it's who had a better skill set coming out of college. If Bridgewater goes to Jax he might get killed, but if he goes to Houston he might become a real player quicker. It's all about the team around them. You put Geno on a better offensive team he might have had tremendous success, you put him on the Jets not so much. Coming out of college, Teddy had a much better skill set than Geno. Feel free to disagree. _
There are plenty of examples of college players with "better mechanics" than certain players but they end up flopping in the league. I'm sure Bridgewater has all the tools and I hope he succeeds. But he may or may not be able to transition to the NFL.
You wouldn't be concerned at all if HOU took the deal, that they figured Teddy isn't worth what we just gave up? And then it leaves the question, why, a team in need in a QB as bad as us (with easily more talent on O), passed up on the top prospect? It would cause some concern for me.
You'll say that because you don't like Geno. They're probably closer than you're giving them credit for.
I personally wouldn't want to trade the farm for anyone who isn't the next HOF QB, which I don't believe anyone is calling Bridgewater. The point I was making had nothing to do with what fans would think. You said the Jets FO should hesitate if HOU accepts such a deal. That's nonsense. If the Jets FO decided to make the offer it would be because they had made the decision that they'd be happy if HOU accepted.
Ahh yeah I worded that poorly. I agree though, on this type of team, with so many holes, we can't trade the farm unless it's for a healthy Aaron Rodgers right now. Besides that, way too much risk
That's 100% true. The NFL is always a gamble. When discussing a prospect versus another prospect, it oftentimes makes sense to discuss what skills they possess. Teddy has better skills than Geno. Doesn't mean Teddy will excel. Doesn't mean he won't. You seem to be one of the posters happy with Geno's year this year and should be happy building around him in the hopes that he turns things around. That's a fine opinion. I am of the opinion that if there is a better QB than Geno in round 1 when we pick that we'd be remiss is not taking him. Geno may be the guy. He may not be. I don't know and I'd rather hedge my bets with a top QB prospect than with a retread free agent and some developmental 6th rounder who will never see the field. That's just my opinion. _
I'm only saying that because I watched both of them a lot in college and I've sen a full year of Geno in the pros. I don't think most draft gurus think of them as comparable. Geno went 39 in an awful class for QBs. Teddy will go top 5 in a strong year for QBs. That's just the way it is. _
Seems like two completely different viewpoints. Chances are the top 4 QB's are gone with the first 10 picks, if 1 of them happens to be there when the Jets pick then they should assess at that time but they shouldn't be thinking about giving up multiple picks or players for any of them.
Some posters in this thread are really really clueless, Teddy is and will be one hell of a QB. Geno has barely shown anything that warrants him to be our starting QB for the next few seasons. If we have a shot at Teddy, you take him, he's an instant upgrade and possible future top 10 QB (we'll have to give him weapons though).
Seems like someone doesn't understand sarcasm. We're not giving up an entire draft for Teddy, not giving up Mo and Richardson and Coples for him, it's just not happening. It was hyperbole. Sarcasm. Not real. _
