I'm glad we spared Mo the humiliation and embarrassment of participating in a total farce. Hell, the QBs are off limits the entire game. How much fun would that be for big Mo?
Folk would have been deserving, but it's not a surprise, to me, that he didn't make it. Tucker is just as deserving, and the MNF game against Detroit, which was a national showcase for him, is fresh in everyone's minds. You could argue Folk deserved it more than Prater, but him breaking the kick record likely guaranteed him the votes. Wilk not getting in is a shame, though.
Folk didn't get it because there was about a five game span down the stretch where he had about 1-3 points per game. Not his fault at all, our offense sucked and couldnt even get in field goal range. Really great breakthrough season from him and I hope he can continue to kick at this high level for the Jets for many years.
Ha! This comment can be taken two ways - and will be. What's so obvious to one is so ridiculous to the other.
Its a popularity contest. People know the name Cromartie. Thats why he got any votes at all. When you think about it though, he has what, 50 children? He must have had them voting all day, every day.
Like others have said, Pro Bowl is a joke. Should be scrapped, I'd be pissed if a Jet tore an acl at this stupid fuckin game.
I'd rather Mo Wilk didn't go. It's an opportunity to get hurt in a meaningless game. @Jake - exactly.
I mean Folk has been great this year, but Prater set the field goal record this year and Tucker just had that game where he scored all the Ravens points and they beat the Lions. He's 35/38 when Folk is 31/33. It sucks but I get it. Wilkerson I don't get, I think he definitely deserves it. 3-4 DEs almost never have 10+ sacks
(1) As noted, the Pro Bowl is a joke, so taking it seriously is silly. (2) There's a good chance Wilkerson will get a chance to go if he wants to. (3) People need to understand that while Folk has been great, that is not that special any more. There are 13 kickers with FG percentages over 90% this year, so the difference between any of them is pretty much one FG made or missed. Prater has the highest percentage and set an NFL record for longest kick, so I can't see any objection to him making it, and the other kicker could have been any 1 of 10 different guys.
