Are you shitting me? a paragraph from some blogger and I'm supposed to think he's not HC material? When most of the football world DOES think he's HC material?

I'm sure Alex Smith gave credit to Harbaugh because Harbaugh was his HC, but if asked about Roman he'd offer the same endorsement. It's not as if he's ever said "roman did nothing for me, it was all Harbaugh" like you claim.

Either way, If I see he has been responsible for their running game I am encouraged. They are very creative in the running game and have been a top 5 rushing team in the Harbaugh/Roman era. Not too mention it lends itself well to the way our roster is currently constructed.

If you have time to read more than just a little blurb from some blogger read this, from a respected source :

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/nfl/news/20130130/super-bowl-xlvii-greg-roman-49ers/

Or you can just continue to nitpick a guy like that in support of your boy Ryan. Peace.

Read the quotations from the players - that is all that matters to me.

Nice opinionated assumption - he credited Jim Harbaugh that is all that matters.

Guess what? Running the ball all of the time doesn't win you a SB, you still need a passing game to complement a running game. Greg Roman has no responsibilities in the passing game. This is similar to hiring Tony Sparano as an offensive coordinator. I guess that worked out really well!

All of this talks about the running game, where is his contribution to the passing game? All bullshit and does nothing to support your claim. Offensive lineman love to run the football and I enjoy a good running game - but nothing is talked about regarding the passing game. So he is not responsible for that aspect of the offense. Another reason NOT to hire him - for a QB we are trying to develop. Marty is a far better offensive mind

Or we can sit here and mention why Rex is a better fit for this team, then a running game coordinator. Don't let the door hit you on the way out dunce - you made yourself look mighty foolish.

Sorry - I didn't realize you were the only one spouting over and over that Rex was good motivator, I didn't quote you because I wasn't going to go back and checking all the posts and thought it was more than 1 idiot.

You are a fucking moron -- How's that for being a pussy?

Mentions nothing about the passing game - this text pretty much seals it in stone. You guys want a modern NFL offense - he brings nothing to the table in the passing game cept for the fact that you can audible a pass out of a running formation.

Rex haters are funny. No logic, no reason.

Again, why are we talking about replacing Rex Ryan with a running game coordinator? There are few coaches that I would replace Rex with - and I do not believe they will be going for a head coaching job this season.

Pretty sure I'm the only one who brought it up. But damn e-thug you got me.

sadly Rex and Jets and all of us are still saddled with pathetically awful lame "fans" such as you. Go root for one of those 15 other AFC teams you described earlier as being "tremendously better" than the Jets

It will make you less miserable and happier in your football endeavors

Point to Greg Roman's contributions in the passing game. Oh so you want to call me dumb because you can't provide an argument against anything I have said.:rofl:

    What a sore loser.

That article was all about the running game - the article I gave you included quotations from actual players and goes into more insight on Roman's contributions for the 49ers.

If we want an offensive minded coach to coach the Jets - I want him to be fully knowledgeable in BOTH aspects. Similar to Marc Trestman - that man is an offensive genius. His system is good in both the running game aspect as well as the passing game (which is more important in today's game)

But you want a running game specialist to coach the Jets.

He is the offensive coordinator - he is the face of the offense. John Morton is truly behind the passing game with the 49ers.

Roman does call the plays however. So I would hope he knows what he is saying out there.

Listen you can sit here and I can list all the reasons why he is not the answer - Like I said before, I want an innovator that has his own system that can develop his offensive players and reconstruct the passing game as well as continue the running game's success - to me he is not the man for the job.

How could someone call the plays while simultaneously having no responsibility in the passing game? Do you have any idea how fucking retarded you sound?

The guy has been a quarterbacks coach, a TE's coach, he coached Andrew Luck in college.

Are you going to tell us Rex doesn't know anything about the d-line because Karl Dunbar is the d-line coach?

I just fucking mentioned earlier in this thread he has more responsibility this season then last. His play-calling is trash, and he did not come up with the passing concepts the 49ers currently have. He is unable to produce a passing game that's up to date in today's league, instead thinking he can get away with "misdirection" through shifts and formations.

Produce = play-calling. Again, no responsibility in designing pass plays. That is what I meant by responsibility in the passing game.

That article mentions NOTHING about pass play concepts and designs.

That pistol offense Kaepernick runs? It was great against Green Bay earlier in the year - but the league has caught up to that type of offense - it is no coincidence that the passing game has been less then stellar since he took over more this season.

Jim Harbaugh is the true architect of the 49ers offense, don't let the titles fool you. It is HIS playbook, HIS designs. Not Greg Roman's.

You can sit here and call someone a fucking retard mr. mod all you want - but I believe I am more-so correct then you are. What the fuck do you know about Greg Roman besides your recent googling anyway?

I recommend you see what THEIR fans think of Greg Roman. They want him GONE. He is holding the 49ers passing game back.

Just beating the Pats in Foxborough doesn't make Rex a great or even good leader. He's great with the "us against the world, backs to the wall" type motivation, but isn't very good in getting the team to play well consistently. That, imo, is leadership. Leadership also entails leading by example, which Rex doesn't do. Leadership also entails holding underlings accountable, which again Rex doesn't do.

No, I don't have any idea how good the CS can be, but by the same token, you have no idea if they can be any better than they were this year. Don't pretend like you have some kind of special insight.

You speak in such absolutes about what is a pipe dream. THAT's what is BS. You have no idea. The same thing doesn't happen every time a new HC is hired. Stating your opinion is one thing, but stating something as if it's a certainty is asinine.

You're funny. Having 5-7 new starters this year is an excuse for Rex, but if the team has the same amount or more of new starters next season, plus maybe a new system or two, it isn't for Idzik and the new HC. Nice consistency there. The team could take a step back next year while they adjust, then go on a nice 5-10 year run of being a perennial playoff team. Firing Idzik next year would be totally stupid.

No, not every coach is perfect, in fact, NONE are, but the shortcomings that Rex has are fatal flaws imo. They are flaws that cannot be dealt with or accepted.

Throwing out a universal blanket statement like "Jets fans always think that firing someone will make the team better. It's BS and a cop out. It's irrational, and shows that you have nothing to refute better logic.

I don't even know what your argument is anymore. In one breath you criticize his schemes and in the next you say he doesn't create them. Which is it? Are you smoking drugs? It didn't take much googling to prove your asinine statement about him having zero responsibility in the passing game wrong.

Harbaugh himself credits Roman as being the mastermind of the offense yet somehow YOU know better. Got it.

Again as I mentioned, motivation from coaches can only get you so far. You need talent and execution by the players as well.

Look at the players all vying for Rex to come back and coach - I think that's all I needed to hear. Did beating the Saints earlier this year show you anything regarding motivation? Leading the team? Look at how the team played this past weekend. If the players weren't motivated for him, then I don't know what else to say.

4 playoff wins on the road and Rex doesn't show leadership or motivation?

I don't see any reasoning as to why this team, would take any step back next season if we get talent on the offensive side of the ball. We have seen progression from the new players this season - getting a brand new system would only be a step back in their development.

Fatal flaws? What are these fatal flaws? If they were fatal - these players would not be playing for Rex's job. I think we have seen what Rex can do with talent on this roster.

The reason again why I do not like Greg Roman as our HC is this. There is nothing innovate about his play-calling and running game - we have seen this misdirection and smoke and mirrors before with Schottenheimer. Their passing game has suffered tremendously this season (which we are trying to still develop) - he has not adapted to how the defensive is lining up to stop the 49ers offense.

The 49ers ranked 29th out of 32 teams in yards per game (YPG) with 309. Their passing attack is dead last in the NFL at only 168 YPG, over 20 yards behind the next lowest team, the New York Jets.

What is so great about this guy? I seriously do not understand this.

They limited Kaepernick's mobility. They don't call for roll-outs anymore - they are not taking the talent available to them and maximizing his potential.

It is the HC's job to make sure that his players execute properly on a consistent basis, yet you seem to offer it as an excuse for Rex. Interesting.

Rex is a players' coach. What don't you understand about that? Players love players coaches because they aren't hardass disciplinarians that punish them or yell at them. Many players today don't care about winning, they only care about the fame, the $ and the accompanying lifestyle.

I've already said that Rex can get his players up for key games, but the motivations isn't consistent. Where was that motivation for 3 straight weeks following the Bye when the playoffs were on the line?

Those four playoff wins on the road came with great veteran leadership on the team. He had Thomas Jones, Damien Woody, and others that kept the players in line. Rex said at the time that he thought leadership should come from the players. IMO he really doesn't have a very good idea of what leadership is.

They may not take a step back next season even with a new HC, but expecting it to is another matter, when there may be a bunch of new starters and a new philosophy appraoach, and they have to learn how to play together.

I've already listed what I think Rex's fatal flaws are in my previous post, and in my other posts in these threads regarding Rex if you really care to read them. It's obvious to me that your mind is made up and set in stone, just as mine is, and that's ok. We just see things differently and disagree. The sun will still come up tomorrow.

I don't know whether he's great or not. Your argument against him sounded like bullshit, so I looked into it and it turns out it was. You're changing your argument faster than a chameleon changes color.

I suspect the real reason you don't like him is that he's not Rex Ryan.

Here's a stat for you. The 49ers are the 10th highest scoring offense in the NFL. Based on the little bit I've read he is very much an out of the box thinker.
