Bevell scares me. I have a Seahawks fan friend who is extremely knowledgeable. He does not think Bevell is New York material. Ryan did nothing in 2013 to get fired. If the Jets fire him it is because of 2011 and 2012 which would be kind of weird, but it would make sense because the Jets are dysfunctional.
And Cromartie was ish all year, meanwhile Rex stuck through THIN with Milliner to finally show what thick is going to look like. Rex knew exactly how to design a defense with Revis despite lack of talent and aging vets at other positions, Milliner looks like he's worth the pick let's put it that way. The man is building something here, his brand of football. He hit some bumps in the road, and he's got some warts and I can live with that. I wanted Herm gone every day he coached, Mangini, the list goes on. This is a guy with a true core competency, and the team has been built around him. He hasn't proven that he's incapable of getting the job done, it would be insane to blow it all up for 10 more years of Herm Edwards and Mangini's so I'd like to know what the roadmap is because putting the franchise in the hands of a good DL coach just doesn't sound good enough.
You do realize that part of the reason to why we had a hard time getting a GM here is because of Rex, right? Candidates withdrew themselves after it was revealed that the GM had to keep Rex for a year. As LTJF has stated, there are candidates out there. As fans, we know maybe 10% of what GM's may know when hiring a HC. As Ive said, its insane to think that many of you do not think that there isnt a better person to lead us through this offensive rebuild. Its actually pretty laughable. Also, it would take a retard to not get production out of our front 7- there are extremely talented and can succeed outside of Rex Ryan's system. 3 were 1st round picks, another is an elite NT, and two more are 3rd rounders.
If the Jets finish 8-8 it even 7-9, an Rex is let go, then that was in the plan regardless, by any stretch of the imagination, this team has over achieved, time will tell, until the, who gives a fuck, what comes out. From the locker room, or what the media is reporting.
Ryan has done nothing to be extended in the last 3 years, and you dont let a HC play in his last year of his contract.
Are you kidding me? It looks like he's "building" something here? After 5 years, you would think that it would already be built. Rex is a fucking head coach, not a defensive coordinator. What has he "built" on the offensive side, because he's as much responsible for the offense as he is the defense. His brand of football hasnt worked in the last 3 years, and its hard seeing it have longterm success in todays NFL. It is an offensive league, get with it.
Reading the full tweet from Glazer seems interesting to me. If you think about it and go to read what the tweet actually says it could just be Rex trying to judge who wants to play when there is nothing to play for. He asked the players to fight with him the last two weeks of the season. I say you can either take it at face value or take it as a motivational tactic being used by Rex.
His brand of football hasn't been good enough the last 3 seasons. What is he building? A culture of not making the playoffs? Having .500 teams? That's not building, that's mediocrity. Rex's design has resulted in a crappy secondary all year so the defense isn't without issues either. I personally would love the Jets to go hard after Shaw even if he said he's staying at Stanford. Give him the keys to the castle and let him build the whole team with Idzik. I also like what O'Brien has done at Penn St under adverse conditions. He seems like an offensive innovator. Like Parcells said, you are what your record says you are. Rex is a career .500 coach and that's all he is.
Wtf is that? Sanchez turned into a bust, the offensive talent degraded to nothing. The young, talented, developing defense is what I'm talking about. Schottenheimer was an awful OC, Sparano was as bad or worse. There is a ton of draft and cap ammunition to rebuild the offense quick next year, and the Geno question is the issue for Rex or whoever takes over. The defense is already built it just needs some window dressing at safety, the offense failed and needs to be rebuilt intelligently. If Idzik is worth his salt he should do that, and keep Rex in his area of expertise. If he isn't, what the fuck are we talking about here?
He also did nothing to get extended in 2013. The team will still finish under .500 most likely this year and his career record is not much better than .500. His teams and the talent on them have regressed under his watch as a HC.
What's your point again. I noted that the Offense is an issue and you highlight the weakness in the D. On a subsequent post you point out that our strengths are the Defensive line but Rex has nothing to do with that. I get it know. The weakness is Rex's fault but the strength is someone else's doing. You are all over the map trying to justify Rex's firing. Yep, Mo Wilks, Coples, Ellis, Richardson, Milliner, Snacks, Douz, a nucleus that will pay dividends for years to come are Dunbars doing. Rex was responsible for the OLB and Safeties in the D and the poor Offensive performance in general.
The so called new coach will bring in their own staff. The is a pipe dream at best. Rex will become a HC or DC elsewhere and you know what will happen? He will take his staff with him. Rex becomes the new HC of the Texans. "Hey Dunbar want to coach Watt and Clowney?"
THANK YOU. Nevermind that Rex does nothing but hit homeruns on defensive picks and will keep doing that as long as he lives. Who the fuck else is going to do that?
Agree, but not getting extended and getting fired are significantly different. I'll argue that any of the coaches mentioned could not have done better with our offensive woes and flimsy secondary.
It seems like you have a lot of excuses for Rex. What exactly is he building? Is he building an undisciplined, inconsistent bag of shit? What exactly is his brand of football because all I see is an undisciplined, inconsistent team with a head coach that doesn't know how to use timeouts or challenges and only seems to give a shit about the defense.
This team is better then last year. How did the team regress every year? With a rookie QB? We are one of the youngest rosters in the league
So, exactly which street is the word out on? Is it Jet Drive in Florham Park or Gang Green Avenue in the cloud? Even if the latter, there certainly is no consensus. Let the Rex bashers comment on today's performance by their two favorite topics - Smith and Milliner. Can anyone deny that, while there is still plenty of work to be done, those rookies have made significant progress?
