I agree with this 100%. Bring in a Jason Campbell or Fitzpatrick to backup and/or compete with Geno. Bring in Pettigrew as a FA, add Jeremy Maclin and another vet receiver, plus draft another guy. I think a full offseason can help Geno.
theres definitely no giving up on him... he'll be the focus of the QB position next year, albeit with other legitimate options in case he falters. but its his show nonetheless, he'll be given a chance next year to cement himself, sink or swim with a veteran and mid rd pick in tow.
Geno looked good today but a team rushing for 200+ yards will make any QB look good. Extra credit to Geno for zero turnovers though.
To be fair, Geno rushed for 48 of the 208. So the team minus Geno rushed for 160 which is still very impressive.
Geno looked very good today. Only about 2 off target throws but those happen to most QBs. The biggest plus was 0 turnovers. The receivers got open as well. Especially on the crossing routes. We still need an elite wideout to see him fully progress and now at 7 wins, we may not have the ability to draft one.
why would anyone care what geno does against a couple of 4 win teams in meaningless games? he's shown nothing this year to indicate he's the answer at QB
dude needs 150 yards to get 3000, another 26 to 300 rushing yards. not much and doesn't really look great next to those 21 picks but its something.
Because this game had meaning for both teams. Everyone is playing for their jobs when a team is eliminated from the playoffs. This game gave me more confidence in Geno; I'm not sure if he's the answer but it makes me not want to draft a Qb in the first round unless they're, by far, the BPA.
The Browns are a dreadful football team, they've won 1 game since the beginning of October and are giving up 30 points a game.
Their last 4 games have all been close, hard-fought games. They are not a good team but they haven't given up. Jaguars L 32 - 28 Patriots L 26 - 27 Bears L 38 - 31 Jets L 13 - 24
There's no such thing as meaningless games. I hate this bullshit logic. Geno sucks, then he bombed vs a team like this. Geno does good, then it was expected and unimpressive.
They got bent of a bad call vs the Pats too..... Cleveland's problem is the offense sans Gordon, not the defense(Though their Run D has taken a hit with Bryant gone). By no means are they a good team but they do have a very good pass defense.
Its safe to say we've all made up our minds about him. We either feel as though theres somebody better in the next draft that would serve us better to start next season or that he's got something but needs time and support to bring it out. theres a clear divide here.
I don't think I want anything else? Are you giving away money, if yes I would take that. Not sure what you are talking about.
Geno gets credit to the point that he's probably not the worst QB in the NFL as he appeared for a good stretch of the season and has shown that he can beat the dregs of the AFC at home. As far as being a guy the Jets should build around for the future I don't see how you can determine that off a couple of wins against bottom feeders.
One could also say that about Rex. Rex supporters will say he deserves to stay because after all he won 7 games with this team that has absolutely no talent on offense. Well it could be said the Geno has managed to win 7 games with this team with absolutely no talent (line or receiver) on offense.
