What part of Woody wouldn't allow Rex to be fired last season do you not understand? Several GM candidates removed their name from consideration precisely because Rex could not be fired. It's absurd to blame Idzik for this.
They probably weren't going to embarrass him by firing him with two games left, but since he's opened his fat mouth yet again, yes, they should go ahead and fired the dumb ass. And some of you guys wonder why some of us dislike Rex so much and want him gone.
Whisenhunt was not good without a HOF QB. I hope they don't even consider him. look how much better the Cardinals are this year without him.
If that's the truth, and the Jets hadn't made up their minds to fire him, they probably have now. You don't do that kind of thing as the HC if you have any class or intelligence.
Whisenhunt at least has a SB appearance under his belt. He road Warner to SB despsite having an underachieving top pick (Leinart) on his team. Does that mean we might go to a vet QB if he came aboard
Yes, I know. I edited the post to make it clear that I was being sarcastic and speaking to those who think our defense will regress exponentially when Rex leaves.
If Rex called out the players like Glazer said and they don't respond, then he has effectively signed his exit papers out of here
I know he wasn't that good without Warner, but I'm tired of the rookie HCs having to learn how to be a HC, and develop their routines. I'd rather have someone who has been there, done that, and even if he wasn't that good or made mistakes before, I'd prefer him over yet another rookie HC who doesn't have a clue what he's doing.
Woody is known for not hiring guys with a lot of experience in the positions they're interviewing for. Tannenbaum, Herm, Mangini, Groh, Ryan, Idzik. Woody is always looking for the miscast genius.
When Rex says "Word on the street", is he talking about the media or people in the Jets organization? That's what i'd want to know.
Unfortunately, you're spot on. Sigh. Maybe, just maybe he's learned a lesson from that or maybe Idzik will favor an experienced HC and be able to convince Woody. I can hope, anyway.
This!! Coughlin, Belechick, Dungy, Gruden, Vermeil all won with thier 2nd team. Carroll, Reid, Fox are all having success this go round.
So, you're saying our best bet for success is to hire prior HC's on their second team? If you are, I'm in agreement. No more rookie HC's. I'm tired of guys using the Jets as finishing school for HC's.
Of those hires, only Mangini was a true reach Groh was out of necessity; Herm & rex were considered good picks Tannenbaum was already in place Time will tell about Idzik, but remember no one was banging down our door for the job, IIRC
^THIS If they were going to get rid of him it should have been BEFORE this season. Makes it all a giant waste... See the first quote.
