There's a pretty good chance Blake Bortles will go in the top 10 if he comes out. That would bode well for our chances to draft a promising QB in the first three rounds.

The thread isn't about who the best QB's are. It's about who is going to go in the top 10 and by extension are 1st round QB's.

I'm pretty sure there's a franchise QB in this draft with all the options available but I'm damned if I can pick him out of the crowd. Fales isn't going to go in the 1st round this year with a below average arm. Not with the number of options available.

He's definitely going to get drafted but probably in the same range Aaron Murray will, in the 3rd or 4th round.

    I'd rather have Murray.

To be fair you also wanted Geno Smith... Fales has an average arm. Even so arm strength can be an overrated attribute if you aren't accurate

I was happy with the Geno pick. It was very good value on the 39. I had a few QB's I liked in the 2013 draft at various points. Geno was my highest rated QB by quite a bit. I'd have taken Landry Jones in the 3rd or 4th if we didn't get Geno on the 39. I'd have taken Zac Dysert in the 6th.

Too many people are writing Geno off at this point. While I think his potential is definitely somewhat diminished there are more than a few NFL QB's who have looked bad their first year and turned out to be very good QB's.

I'd just like to have some real competition for Geno next year. Somebody to push him and potentially take the reins if he hasn't made a lot of progress before 2014 kicks off.

People are taking my comments about this years QB's as some kind of support mechanism designed to support Geno. (Somehow, not sure how that works exactly...)

In fact if I'm right about the QB's we're more likely to have one of them in house next year after the draft. If the top prospects are all going top 10 then we've got no shot at them but if only one of them is up there and the others are strewn out over the first couple of rounds, well there's a lot of opportunity there if things break right.

I didn't like any of the QBs in the 2013 class, I think we could have done much better in the 2013 draft that is all I am saying. Geno was good value that is all fine and dandy, but the fact of the matter is - there was opportunity to draft better players with upside. We could have done much more to rebuild this offense then take a project QB.

Geno Smith has had one of the worst rookie QB seasons in a long time. In a league where the QB is protected and has a higher % of thriving due to the rules. I think we can just about write Geno off at this juncture. Please don't bring up the Peyton Manning factor. I have seen some bad rookie QBs, namely Jimmy Clausen and Geno looks just like him.

This class may not be great, but there are some QBs with very high upside. You can support Geno, I have no issue with it, but it was not in the best interests of the Jets. Having Geno out there could get our coach fired in my opinion.

Yeah, he's had a bad season. No, he hasn't been particularly well protected. There have been issues at both guard spots and the tackles have leaked some also although not at the same rate LG has.

I'm going to support Geno until I see better options available. I supported Sanchez last season because there were no better options available. I think you have to give Geno a partial pass on this year because of all the personnel issues involved and the fact that he was learning a WCO. That doesn't excuse the issues that he specifically created with bad decisions on a lot of passes but it does excuse some of the other stuff.

This is a great QB class, 6-7 guys better than anyone from last years class.

3-4 guys who could be franchise type guys and another 2-3 guys who could be solid starters in this league for years.

Hell nobody is talking about a guy like Tahj Boyd and he's twice the player that Geno is. Better arm, quicker release, more accurate, really has a football IQ, 100x a better runner and 1000x a better leader. But 1-1/2 inches shorter. If you think Geno can be developed into a real player then Boyd is a borderline Hall of Famer by comparison.

He's not even in my top 3-4 QBs and I'd STILL rather have him than Geno.

Last years class SUCKED. Folks wanted Tyler Bray and Tyler Wilson in the second third round for crissakes. Holy crap! I loved what Ryan Nassib did for my Orangemen but he is not an NFL QB. Matt Barkley? Oooof.

    An AWFUL class.

    David Carr people????

For all the David Carr people in this message board, you do realize his competition in the Mountain West makes Geno in West Virginia look like he played the '85 bears in comparison (maybe an exaggeration but my point stands). Are you going to draft a QB that has never faced even an average D1 defense in his playing career in the first round?

Somebody will take a chance on Carr. If he got down to the Jets pick in the 2nd round maybe the Jets do the same thing they did with Geno last year and make a value pick there.

He's not a 1st round pick. He's not a high 2nd round pick. He's probably going to get taken by pick 36 though.

Whoa whoa whoa this is not the case. When Geno was putting up fantasy football numbers early in the year he was doing it against some of the weakest opponents and worst defenses in the NCAA.

Marshall and James Madison? Really? Who new James Madison played football?

Then Maryland, Texas and Baylor- three of the WORST passing defenses in all of college football. Once he hit the the tougher part of his schedule his numbers were merely ok- not the massive Madden numbers he was putting up against the crappy defenses. Then he had a monster game against the worst team in the Big -12 in Kansas before being underwhelming against a weak Syracuse defense in a game I thoroughly enjoyed seeing live.

Before that he was in the Big East which has pretty much been lousy football for a decade and not much better than the Mountain West. Rutgers? UConn? He played LSU in 2011 and he was awful.

Btw, I saw him the year before in the Carrier Dome and he was absolutely embarrassed by my Orangemen who had an awful defense that year.

I wouldn't be touting the defenses Geno was playing against while dinging the defenses Derek Carr played.

It sounds good until you look at the actual teams he played against.

    It's just not the case.

Super Bowl winning, Superbowl MVP, $100 million, first round pick quarterback Joe Flacco from the Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens says hi.

Oh, I'm by no means defending the Big 12 defenses. The big 12 with few exceptions barely plays defense, which is exactly my point. IMO you don't drop a 1st round pick, especially a top 10 pick, on a QB that has never faced any formidable competition. Which is exactly why Geno didn't go in the first, and debatable whether or not he should have gone in the 2nd.

Jesse Palmer the commentator for today's game (who probably watches more college football than any of us) said in the opening 'Derek Carr is a top 15 draft pick, with good size and ELITE arm strength with incredible accuracy and is very smart, what you want in an NFL quarterback.'

Carr gorgeous gorgeous first throw on a sideline fade, then overshot receiver wide open in endzone then bullet on a slant for a TD.

I love the way he calls the coverages at the line of scrimmage, in total control of his offense.

Since that TD throw Cars been awful. And your high if you think Boyd is better than Geno. Boyd's redshirt scout team receivers are better than what Geno has now. There are plenty of good Qb's this year that may be better than Geno but Boyd isn't one of them.
