wow Lombardi coaching Namath? What a wild circus that would've been. And I thought the Jets were primarily concerned with entertainment value today!
Fwiw, HOF coach Vince Lombardi called Namath "the best pure passer I ever saw." He wasn't the only one. HOF coach Bill Walsh: "the most beautiful, accurate, stylish passer with the quickest release (he'd) ever seen." HOF coach Don Shula: "one of the three smartest quarterbacks of all time." HOF coach Bear Bryant: -> (on recruiting Namath): "best coaching decision I ever made." -> "greatest athlete I ever coached." HOF coach John Madden put Namath on his All-Super Bowl team along with Joe Montana and Roger Staubach. Maybe not Mark Sanchez great, but not bad praise from high circles. ;-)
and this tells us what? we know he is a top 10 all time talent, unfortunately he wasted much of it(some his fault, some not).
That I was addressing Browning Nagle? junc, I'm not going to bother, not after you addressed this same issue in the "Sanchez Sucks, Just Sucks!" thread by posting (and I quote): "who cares what Lombardi or Walsh said!" before making a snide pass about me misspelling 'Maddan' <----maybe slightly burned out, but with a 'razor blade' memory Oh, it also tells us that I saw Namath play.....while you on the other hand "saw" him on Wikipedia-Google TV. Stick to the Sanchez ombudsman critiques junc ;-)
who cares what they said about his ability? those quotes are meaningless, they are talking about his ABILITY which has never been questioned, when they say(or said) something about what he actually did please let me know.
Don't worry. We'll have our day in the sun. One of those days on the farthest planet in space which gets sun for about a minute.
This entire thread is about whether we maintain our hope or whether 45 years of losing crushes all hope
if folks have no hope I would suggest to find a new hobby. Maybe the Jets never win one? I have survived 30+ years watching this team and hopefully I will get to see another 30+ whether they win it all or not.
Well IMHO U R in total state of denial since so long as our sad sack owner continues as the owner (Remember his son is waiting in the wings & U better hope his genes come from mom & not dad) & Woody continues to hire numb skulls like RR & Izdik just like me U will be going to another place WITHOUT ever seeing another NYJ winning SB. Right now the NYGs & us are on pretty equal terms & watch how quickly they rebuild while we continue to cellar dwell. You really have to realize that we have been rebuilding now for 44 years with ZERO success so why should the next 50 years be any different? Cmon now come up the solutions so that all of us can see the sun really/truly rising over the NYJ franchise
wrong ! they can watch SB3 replay , or buy a dvd of that game. you mean watch a live telecast.....
meanwhile, the giants are in the same boat right now as we are. EXCEPT, they have 2 rings in the past 7 years. no wonder champ has the opinion that he does.
This. At the end of the day it's just a game. To bitch and moan for 11 years, while spelling horribly, is pathetic. If it bums you out this much, I suggest finding a new hobby.
You must have not read all of my post or U would not have commented as you did. For your reference here it is " Izdik just like me U will be going to another place WITHOUT ever seeing another NYJ winning SB"
NO, NO, NO I say the NYGs will beat us to another SB because I assess there organization far, far, far superior to the one sad sack Woody has in place
I think you ought to rethink the quoted post since there are far to many things out there to derail what U posted. JFYI I lost my 2 best friends both in there 40s 1 to brain cancer & the other to a massive heart attack. So just because U are pumped & feel U will live 4ever mother nature may have other things in mind for U & 4 sure U will have no way of stopping what she has in store for U. MHO is you better start pushing for sooner then later since U never know when the later becomes the sooner
It's not 44 years of losing...it's 44 years of no Super Bowl wins. Big difference. I bag on the Jets as much as most people but I'd love to see overall W/L's since 1996, we might actually be in the top half of the league over the last two decades. Or at least the 15 years before the last two.
If you throw out 96 we have a winning percentage slightly higher then 51% below 52%. That puts us into the top half of the league over that period. If I had to guess about 14th best over the period.
