in 2008 jets with farve were 8-3 in first place-----jets lost 4 of last 5 and mangini was fired I expect the same thing this year-----jets were 5-4------if they lose the last two games---jets would have finished 1-6 and I expect woody to fire the head coach
I hope this is not the case. Looking back on Rex's whole career with the Jets is what should be taken into account. Not two meaningless games against the Browns and Dolphins. JMO. He's either a good coach or a bad coach. These two games arent going to prove that either way.
I disagree. I believe Idzik has made up his mind. I just read today that they are going to give Jarrett and Bush some more snaps to see how they look going into next season. The next two games are about SNAPS not so much wins and losses because they do not matter anymore. Love Rex or hate him, if you fire Rex it certainly does not replace your lack of talent for superstars.
WHAT? OMG You want to build the team around the personality of a man who gets a picture of his naked wife clad only in the jersey of his starting QB and was a blowhard? I am speechless.
I don't get this. How can he build a team around his identity? I've seen many, many people that say he should not be blamed or even held accountable for the level of talent because that is the GMs job. So if he has isn't to blame, it means he doesn't pick the team. How can he build a team in his own image if he doesn't build the team?
I feel the only thing that would have saved his job would have been a playoff appearance. So regardless of what happens the next two weeks I think he's done.
So if we lose the last two Rex is gone?.................. Hope we lose by 40 each game, fire that @#$%.
Rex wants a team that can play tough physical smash mouth football. But also is able to put up points and run the ball. Think Seattle and San Fran.
....because this identify has really gotten this team to a near 500 record in his tenure here for 5 years now. Great logic.
But many people on this board think he has little to no input into which players are on the team. Many think he should not be held responsible for the current roster because the GM picks the players. If the GM picks the players with no input from Rex, how can he mold them in his image? I get that he can get some players to play tougher, but it takes the right personality of player to play smash mouth. If he does have very little input into the players on the team and as some believe, gets told which QB to play, why would Rex stay?
I wouldnt go that far but Rex has had his 5 years and this team needs to move on. Rex already peaked and its nothing but downhill from here with this guy. Someone else deserves a chance at this point.
The Mangini Situation was completley diffrent. He was 8-3 with Brett Farve in a season with a ton of hype and ended up 9-7 .Rex is playing in a season where they traded Revis his best player on defense,10 new starters ,a rookie QB and no talent on offense. These situations are similar how exactly?
Do you not hold him partially responsible for the current state of the roster? Is he completely without blame?
