In January? yes, reg season? of course not. Peyton will get his team into the playoffs and usually get a 1 or 2 seed so that is half the battle. You can't get to a SB w/o getting to postseason first BUT Peyton sucks in January w/ so much more talent than Mark has ever had.

what factors were beyond his control? was it the INT for a TD? the 2 other Tos that directly led to 10 pts including the GW FG? what are these factors? if he was leading his high powered O's to 25-30 PPG in playoff losses I'd say you have a point, he'd be doing all he could but that simply isn't the case.

we are talking sports, please share your opinions. If I disagree who cares?

Factors like the special teams giving up a score, the defense allowing scores etc. that's why you can't act like football is golf or tennis or even to a lesser extent basketball.

So the whole football Team and coaches are responsible for wins and LOSSES?

    I Agree!

You do know he received 14 STs points, right? you know his Ds have allowed LESS pts than Brady's supposed top D's, right? you do know he leads his high powered O's to just over 14 PPG in playoff losses, right?

Let's look at each playoff loss individually.

1999: #2 seed, home game w/ bye. Loses 19-16 in game that wasn't as close as score as he led garbage time TD. D only allowed 19, no STs scores allowed.

2000: at Miami WC game. against legendary choking D led his high powered O to 3 pts the 2nd half and OT. The D allowed a great game running from Lamar Smith but all he needed was one more FG at any point the 2nd half or OT and they win.

2002: at NYJ WC game. SHUT OUT. The D sucked too but you can win a game allowing 41 pts, you can't win scoring ZERO but this was an all around team failure.

2003: at NE AFC Championship. Lose 24-14. Peyton throws 4 INTs. Colts complain to the league about Pats DBs mugging Indy WRs so the league changes rule....

2004: at NE div rd:...despite rule change leads O to THREE pts in 20-3 loss.

2005: #1 seed, home game and bye. Given MULTIPLE gifts by refs/D and still couldn;'t get game to OT at home. Had obvious INT overturned or game would have been over earlier in 4th. then after failing on downs on his 2 yd line, D forces fumble then returns it near midfield. Peyton has 2nd and 3rd and 2 at Pitt 28. Takes shot at EZ both times forcing a longer Fg which was missed(compare that to similar circumstances for mark Sanchez on the road in 2010 in the WC game where he set up a chip shot FG)

2007: for the FIRST time leads O to more than 20 pts in a loss but throws 2 RZ INTs in 4 pt loss.

2008: has chance to run out clock, not only does he fail but takes a sack setting up SD in FG range to tie at end of regulation. SD won in OT

2009: trailing by 7 in the SB and around NO's 30 yd line throws INT for TD to end game. led high powered O to just 7 pts over final 3 qtrs. after a 10-0 1st qtr lead.

2010: has chance to ensure Vinatieri will kick w/ no time left, fails to get 1st down and forces 50+ yd FG to take lead. AV hits it but leaves Mark Sanchez too much time, mark sets up chip shot FG for the win(what peyton couldn't do in 2005).

2012: despite 14 STs pts and a bye and home game he once again leads his team to a one and done. 3 TOs set up 17 pts in 3 pt loss including the GW FG in double OT.

Yes because the opposing defenses had the audacity to not "allow" Peyton and the offense to do what he wants.

did you think we had a great defense in 2002? we SHUT HIM OUT.

Let's look at what he led his O's to in playoff losses and what those teams did the rest of postseason:

    1999: 16 pts vs. Ten(including 7 garbage time pts), Ten allowed 18 PPG other 3 games. -2
2000: 17 pts vs. Mia, Mia allowed 20 the next week. -3
2002: 0 at NYJ, NYJ allowed 30 the next week. -30
    2003: 14 at NE, NE allowed 22 PPG in other 2. -8
    2004: 20 at NE, NE allowed 24 PPG next 2 games. -4
    2005: 18 vs. Pitt, Pitt allowed 15 PPG other 3 games. +3
    2007: 24 vs. SD, SD allowed 14 PPG other 2. +10
2008: 17 at SD, SD allowed 28 next game. -9
    2009: 17 vs. NO, NO allowed 21 PPG other 2 games. -4
    2010: 16 vs. NYJ, NYJ allowed 19 PPG other 2. -3
    2012: 21 vs. Bal, Bal allowed 18 other 3.+

Only in + category 3 times
    Overall -47

    Poll

    a) Sanchez released Monday after Miami game

    b) Sanchez released in March before conditioning sessions

    c) Sanchez released before draft

    Hopefully a)

Kind of knowing Idzik a little bit I would be surprised if anything happened quickly. It will obviously happen, it's just a matter of when.

Good lord, do you ever bring anything constructive to this board? Like seriously

Peyton Manning is the regular season king no doubt about it - he has choked so many times in the playoffs. Last season was one of the worst - throws 2 interceptions one being where he throws the football across his body, a golden rule not to do.

14 ST points - yet people blame the Broncos safety on the L

What does this prove? If Peyton was playing every position on the defense and offense and ST then you'd be right.

You have to go with the better player IMO. That's Peyton by a large margin.

Wouldn't you agree that Peyton has a MUCH larger sample size then Sanchez does though? Peyton's played 20 games in the playoffs compared to Sanchez's 6. Sure he has had his bad games in the playoffs but he's also had games in the playoffs that Sanchez can only dream about having.

hahaha, wtf is going on in this thread?
i pop in and see you guys actually trying to compare Peyton Manning and Sanchez?

do you have any idea just how ludicrous that actually is?
before anyone makes themselves look any more foolish by entertaining this, just stop with this line of thought.

Like I said, it's all a coincidence his teams consistently underachieve in postseason. Peyton is only responsible for all the reg season success.

Of course I'd take Peyton, b/c he is an all time great reg season QB and will give his teams chances to get to SBs every year. Unfortunately you'll miss almost every year but at least you'll have chances.

Peyton has had a couple of "great" games in the playoffs at home in the WC rd against mediocre teams.

You'd have a point if Peyton played every position. This is not just for Peyton but for every freaking player. Football is the ultimate team sport, and there are too many variables that goes into wins and losses that are out of the control of the QB.

the problem is in 90% of their playoff losses it has been b/c of poor play from peyton. when your best player doesn't play well it affects the team negatively. I am sure you can understand this.

It's unreasonable to champion Manning during the regular season while overemphasizing his postseason failures as though the team should be expected to pick up his slack as he did for so many regular season games every year. What is his career winning % in cold games?

Better then that Junc, he tore the us up in the AFC Championship game in 2009.

He played well in that Super Bowl as well, not great by his standards but not bad by any means and better then many of Sanchez's playoff games anyway.

That run in 2003 up until that Pats loss was crazy as well.

If your there as many times as Peyton is your going to have your good moments and bad.

Remember, he didn't start playing well until after we lost some DBs to injury. he did play well though.

Other than leading his team to 7 pts the last 3 qtrs. and throwing the game ending INT for a TD he was spectacular:rofl2:

The problem is he has had many more bad moments than good, he should have 3-4 SB titles by now w/ the great teams he has played on. if he played well he'd have those SBs.

Overall in the SB how did Peyton Manning play? It's the Super Bowl, he's not playing some scrub team who he can easily throw 4 or 5 TD's against. He was very efficient in that game.

Mark Sanchez threw 15 passes against the Bengals in 2009 and we all wax poetic about how well he played that game.

Overall pretty 00659581SOoorly, when you throw an INT for a TD that costs your team the game and lead your high powered O to 7 pts the final 3 qtrs. that's not good.

In NO the Vikings scored 28 pts against that same D where it was much harder to beat No than down in Miami on a neutral field.

Mark was near flawless in that Bengal game w/ 3 incompletions where 2 were drops(including what would have been a long TD). Are you saying a game where peyton led his O to 17 pts and threw the game ending INT for a TD was better?
