Personally I doubt you see anything wildly different in the last two weeks compared to the first 14.

It's the coming off season and how well Smith makes use of it that will determne his forward progress or lack thereof.

In my Matt Simms voice... GENO IS THE MAN!! Let him get back in Shotgun spread offenses with some good wideouts and sling that ball down the field.. thats what he's most comfortable with.. Chris Ivory should really have a breakout season next year and that playaction will be so sweet once they respect the run game again.. cant wait to see next season what geno does.. besides this is just a shitty "rebuilding" year right??

I think this year has shown Geno is not going to be a franchise QB.

If Geno fails us next year, I won't be surprised. You are right. Pretty much everything the scouts have said is true. If we get a backup we can just ride the year through and get the best draft pick for Mariota.

Stats only tell part of the story. That's why I watch the games instead of merely reviewing the box scores on Monday.

And viewing the game tells me Smith is far less likely to succeed as an NFL quality Qb than Manning. Far less likely.

He can't read defenses. He has poor pocket awareness. He takes too long to get the ball out. These I see by watching him play.

Peyton also threw like 20 TDs in his rookie year in a league where you could abuse wide receivers, back when defense was more gritty and they were allowed to do more on the field.

Sick of people using Peyton Manning's rookie year as an excuse for Geno's awful play - dude is not the answer at QB

Peyton Manning in his rookie year was 3rd in the league in yards behind only Brett Favre and Steve Young. He was also 5th in the league TD's behind Young, Cunningham, Favre and Testaverde.

Do we need to lookup Geno to see where he stands amongst his peers?

Lol quit the Peyton comparisons it making you look bad. For every Peyton there are plenty of other QB's that never play up to their potential. Hopefully Geno is one of the few that bounces back after a bad rookie year.

I do not think it is fair to compare statistics in football. Every rookie QB has a different offensive line, coordinator and receivers. We all know Geno has a shaky line in terms of pass protection, especially on the left side. We also all know that he has a complete and utter lack of talent in terms of receivers. Also, take a look at the schedules.

Geno has had to face 9 of the top half of defenses (YPG) in his rookie year, one of them twice. He has not exactly had a cake walk of opponents in terms of defense.

    2. Panthers (road)
    5. Saints
    6. Bengals (road)
    8. Browns (Sunday)
    9. Ravens (road)
    11. Steelers
    13. Buccaneers
    14. Titans (road)
    15. Bills (twice)

The guy has made some stupid decisions. He needs to learn from his mistakes. I am not sure if he is our guy just yet, but I am not willing to just give up on him. The Jets need talent on the offensive side of the ball no matter who is going to be the QB. I would not be opposed to drafting another one in the middle rounds to possibly catch lightning in a bottle like Seattle did, at the very least increase the depth at the position because Simms is not the answer.

The Jet QB position could be a whole lot worse

    Think 2011 and 2012

Geno will obviously never be Peyton but to be fair Peyton did have marvin Harrison, Dilger, marhsall Faulk as weapons. Slightly better than what Geno has.

DO NOT CONFUSE this w/ me saying anything about geno ever being like Peyton, I'm just stating as bad as Geno has been he didn't have a heck of a lot of help.

Hey moron, that QB had 32 scores in 2011. The position was far more productive in both years.

mark had a bad ending to 2011 but overall had a good year.

mark 2012 was bad but still significantly better than geno 2013 or Eli 2013.
