That's a very good prognostication there. I think Bridgewater wants to stay one more year but he isn't going to do it in a new coaching regime. Way too much risk there for him.

I just can't see how anyone in Teddy's position would stay another year in school. He would be passing up the near-certainty of being drafted in the top 3 spots, and with it a multi-million dollar contract.

If he chooses to stay in school, any number of things could happen to him. He could end up like Matt Barkley and fall to the 3rd round after regressing, or he could get injured and never earn any money in the NFL.

It just doesn't make sense to stay in school.

Brady Quinn was projected to go top 3 in the 2007 draft. Teddy Bridgewater has no guarantees that he's going where he thinks he is. He might well want to go back to school for another year because he thinks it will bolster his position in the draft.

There's a lot that plays into this. If Bridgewater's advisors are getting the feeling that he's not a guaranteed top pick, and they might very well be getting that feeling at this point, then he's got a real decision to make.

One of the things that can give you a feel for where a player might go is where everybody else in his immediate vicinity is ranked. When you have new players cracking the top 5 every couple of weeks, and that's where we are right now, it tells you that things aren't as stable as they seem.

Then you have things like Bridgewater falling in the Scouts Inc rankings, where he is currently #9, and falling in the CBS Sports rankings where he is #4, and you begin to get the feeling that his status as a top pick isn't really all that secure.

1st round pick? Oh yeah. Top 5 pick? Who knows?

Brady Quinn fell to #22. He was ranked a top 5 pick right up until draft day. He was #1 in several rankings.

Week 17 and just two teams in play for the 1 pick:

    1. Houston.

Lose and they have the pick.

    2. St Louis.

Redskins lose and Texans win and the Rams have the 1 pick.

The team in best position for the 3 pick right now is Jacksonville. Lose next week and they might just get themselves a Teddy Bridgewater on that pick.

    Top 10 Draft Order

    1. Houston

    2. St. Louis (from Washington)

    3. Jacksonville (.504 SOS)

    4. Cleveland (.516 SOS)

    5. Oakland (.524 SOS)

    6. Atlanta (.553 SOS)

    7. Tampa Bay (.573 SOS)

    8. Minnesota

    9. Buffalo

    10. Detroit (.457 SOS)

Teddy Bridgewater landing spots on 1, 3, 4 and 5. I think the Rams would think about him but unless they fire Jeff Fisher they are going to take Jake Matthews on the pick.

Seriously the Rams should take Clowney...Jake Mathews is a need, but damn Clowney is generational...No?

    Go with BPA.

And seriously...LOL at Lions with 10th pick...Just two weeks ago they were about to win division

Jeff Fisher lived through the Pacman Jones debacles. If he sees Matthews as a franchise OT who can play LT for a decade he is going to take him over Clowney.

Those speeding tickets were an indicator.

With Houston having the 1 pick the chances of Bridgewater going back to school are way down at this point. He's going to have feelers out to them early on, just like Peyton Manning did with the Jets, and if they say he's their guy he's coming out.

If they play coy he could go back to school. Playing coy with a #1 prospect at this point in the draft process probably means you are not seriously evaluating him as your pick.

You do know Jeff Fisher is an asshole himself right? Fisher and Clowney were made for each other. He made Haynesworth the player he was before he went to Washington. You got Cortland Finnegan who is a douche-bag as well.

He didn't survive Kenny Britt. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times and I can go be a commentator on the NFL network because my NFL head coaching career is over.

He's going to take Matthews over Clowney.

    St.Louis - Mathews
    Jax - QB
    Cle - QB

I would not be surprised to see Jacksonville take a QB even with Clowney on the board. I'd be a little surprised if QB's started popping off the board after that though.

If you're the Cleveland Browns do you really want to be taking Blake Bortles or Derek Carr with Jadaveon Clowney still on the board? That's like a generational meme if you are wrong on that call.

Would Clowney fit in Cleveland's 3-4? At DE or OLB? Maybe the new Cleveland coaching staff decides to switch to a 4-3 and build around Clowney, then what do they do with Paul Kruger, Mingo, and Sheard? Might be easier to just take the QB and not mess with the defense, which has been the bright spot of the team.

The Raiders have no such issues, but with a huge need at QB, they could just opt to go that way and Clowney drops to 6. Atlanta jumps for joy.

New coach in Cleveland. No idea what he will do with the front or the talent in it but I'm guessing the Cleveland management team is going to get every piece of value they can out of that 4 pick. Unless the QB is named Bridgewater or possibly Manziel that's Clowney or Matthews or Barr right now.

In a lot of ways Cleveland has the situation the Jets had last year. The peak talent in the draft is deep in places they are already strong in and they'd have to reach to get a player at a need position unless they make the determination that Manziel is worth the risk.

BUMP! Guess this was really the Clowney sweepstakes. Bridgewater got picked 32nd.
