My office closed at 10am last week on Tuesday cause it's a school also... I'd love another day this week... Sounds like 5 inches or so is in store for NYC. Sound right?

Maybe a bit high drew but very doable.

The problems schools face with this is the same problem they had last week. You either open schools or close them Delayed openings are useless because the snow is worse at the time of a delayed opening.

Letting schools out early is also not the brightest because again..snows will be coming down then too.

So do you close the schools for a 3 to 5 or 4 to 6 event? Tricky call.

In our district last week they opened schools and the had a early dismissile By the time schools WOULD have gotten out, the snow was over and the roads were perfect. Tough call.

EDIT: Oh..the most important part of that explanation is that the snow starts before sunrise.

fjf...the bolded part..not bad no? lol..oh wait a minute..just reread my later post of ending around 2pm...buzzzzz...wrong!! off there bud. You are totally correct. It could have even been worse..I always take off 2 hours from the ending time forecasted because its always earlier..lol.

    Jay

My boss has a flight at 3:00 PM out of Newark tomorrow. He asked me to ask you if you think his flight will fly as planned.

    Thanks as always.

CBG..starts around sunrise...ends? Real tough question. Some models have the light ending part lingering around all afternoon and night..but as far as the accum snows? Pretty much from 6 or 7 until 2pm.

Brook...Im sure his flight gets out..but whether or not there are mini delays is the question. Will be on early tomorrow to give him a better idea bud!

Any time FJF..especially you who needs it for his living.

Thanks for the concern all of you...you will all pay one day..dont worry.

Just checked models..reason being for the ???? on ending time is several models want to send a second disturbance right after the first one. Wouldnt mean much more snow...but just a very light snow in the afternoon and evening.

I really think this over performs a bit...3 to 5 from southern/central pa CMAN again right on the border...give him his snow God..central jersy north jersey...nyc...most of L.I....Conn...hudson vallley.

Now once you start getting north into Mass and then Maine..especially Maine..this storm explodes off the coast as it moves north. Parts of Eastern Maine get over a foot.

Will be on in the morning...as soon as you look at the radar in the morning..it will be easy to say who gets what.

After that...warm weekend...some rain...then cold ..leading to a little CHRISTMAS EVE storm??????? So close..yet so far. The 27th...and New Years Eve.

I hate to be a buzz kill but its less than 20% CBG..just doesnt happen in time for us. Way up north..perhaps Mass BUT yes Maine. Not looking good but still have a bit more than a week.

After that, perhaps the 27th..and then New Years Eve has been showing up big with the setup for about a week now...way off.

Not really much going on..except warm, warmer, warmest..Friday/Saturday/Sunday. Washington D.C. could hit 70 on Sunday...for us close to 60. Then back in the freezer.

Will check later tonight and will keep checking until something good shows up.

GRUMPY...ARE YOU DOING YOUR HOMEWORK? LOL...yes..we have mentioned this warm weekend for about 10 days now. Perhaps its my fault for taking all of this time off lately.

Roads were horrible here. Many a nightmare rush hour stories going around for a 4" storm and it all because of temps. Another storm with temps in the upper teens and lower 20's before the start of winter. Pretty remarkable and the big question is, what does that do to the normal worst period of winter..around January 5th to Feb 15th is our USUAL pattern for the big ones if they come.

    We shall see.
