The last home game of the season. I think Rex really needs to win it too. It says a lot that this thread has not been made yet. 2011 and 2012 the Jets LOST their final 3 games. 2013 they lost at Carolina and now have the Browns and Dolphins left.
I don't like cheering for a loss so I hope we do win but won't be upset if we lose the last two games and get a slightly better draft spot. Playoffs are just not going to happen.
Wouldn't be upset with a few more loses. This year is in the bucket, better start thinking for next year. We know what we have and what we don't. But Rex better hope we win, for his job's sake. Just to be sure. Happy with a win or loss, might actually be more excited for a loss depending how far we shoot up the draft. Imagine a top ten pick somehow.
The Jets are capable of winning the Browns game...doesn't mean they will. It's interesting...much like the Miami game, yesterday you could almost tell, audibly, when the team finally gave up. I do not think the Jets win either of the last two games. In fact, I would not be surprised if we get blown out in either...especially the Miami game. I'm done talking about this season in so much as it being a current and ongoing season for two more games. It's time to reflect, identify what I think is wrong and debate with the rest of you on how to fix it. I'm going to start at the Owner and work my way down. Starting next week I'm going to have 2 full weeks of down time to do this...so stay tuned.
Unless you're picking top 5 I don't think draft order is that important. I would rather see a win, but Cleveland is a lot better than their record dictates. It will be a tough game and a game the Jets can easily lose if Geno loses it.
I'm sure there's a homer or two that think the Jets will blow the Browns out. I have a feeling this game, just like a lot of Jet/Browns games from years ago, will be a hard fought game that can go either way. The Browns aren't pushovers and perhaps are playing for pride. The Jets are playing for Ryan's job in front of a deflated and skeptical home crowd. I didn't know Woody was at the Panther game and from what I've read, wasn't very happy with the outcome. You have to get the feeling that both Woody and Idzik will be at this game and if the Jets don't show up, Ryan might as well get with Remax about selling his house.
Can you post where you read this? Anyway, the next two games are critical for Rex's career. Winning one or both will show improvement from last year's record...that's what you need when rebuilding. We don't want to finish 6-10 again.
My season is not over yet! Not by a long shot. It would please me to no end to knock Miami out of the post season. That being said: I'm indifferent to the outcome of the Browns game. I am not indifferent to my team being competitive in a loss like they did with the Panthers. I don't mind losing a good game ONCE the playoffs are off the table.
Steve Serby is by far the least credible "reporter" in history. This jackass writes an annual column every season before game one predicting a superbowl appearance for both the Jets and Giants....then after a first loss....a column predicting disaster and screaming for firing Richard Todd had the right idea when he smashed this little puke's sorry ass into a locker. Sadly, the little schmuck survived The good news for the Jets is that if Shitby wrote it, its pretty much certain the opposite will happen and Rex will be the HC of the NYJ for the next 3-5 years
is it weird i want them to lose out to get a better pick? winning meaningless games doest sound worth it.
The game is a toss up, if we get some pass rush it should help. If we can get a small lead, and Geno can hand off the ball the whole game we have a chance. If we have to come from behind and the offense has to win the game for us, we are sunk. The same problem we have had since 2011 Winning this game will do nothing but hurt us draft wise and contribute to the clueless homers on here's movement to campaign for Rex's job. I'm not even sure it will carry over into next year. If our owner and FO are serious about winning they will have to turn oven 40% of the roster, mostly on the offensive side. Scary times ahead, not looking forward into being an embarrassment again. At least the tickets will be cheap, glad I did't buy any PSL's. They are worthless now
Precisely the reaction I expected. I'm gonna save myself some time here and defer to the Homers and the Rexaholics. Serby of course has nothing better to do than make up stories and never in the annals of American Journalism has anyone ever spoke without revealing who they are. I'm not a dream killer so here's where I'm getting off the crazy train...
I'm neither a homer or a Rexaholic, nor am I saying he made up the source. I would be mad too if my team lost their 8th game and failed to reach the playoffs for a 3rd year in a row. Nothing from that means that Rex is being fired, though. That statement, or at least the derivation from Woody being unhappy, is speculation. And the fact that no one is speaking outwardly to the media is a really good thing. The "circus" nature of this organization is disappearing... 2011 and 2012 were way worse with the publicity stunts, the media leaks, and the loss of our lockerroom. Today, the media has to reach to make negative stories like this - he didn't make it up of anything, but it was absolutely a stretch. The wheels of this organization aren't coming off. Rex may indeed be fired, but either way the sky isn't falling. It's just rebuilding.
It would be nice to get to 7 wins, it would be an improvement off of 6 and it would be a lot better than anyone expected. In the preseason people said the absolute max would be 7 and 8 would have been a really good season. If the Ravens lose tonight to the Browns game will still be a meaningful game. No one thought the jets would be in contention heading into week 16 back in august.
