Too early to tell on Dee. CB is the hardest position to transition to in the nfl and he missed an entire off season. Next season is going to tell a lot about how this past draft went.
You are ignoring facts. Fact is, their offense in comparison to ours, is light years better. They have much better talent all over their depth chart in comparison to ours. We were outmatched but we made it a fight and had a chance. I don't know what people were expecting, it would have been hard to be that team with a loaded roster, let alone ours.
Totally agree about trading for a QB. We're not going to pick high enough to draft one of the elite QB's in 2014 draft so go ahead and spend that first rounder on a semi-proven starter like Cousins or Cutler. Maybe not quite the long -term franchise solution we're looking for but I just cannot stomach watching this team with the ineptitude they have had at the QB position the last 4 years!!!
Our team is young. Football players improve greatly over off seasons. Honestly this team needs one strong summer, a 1st rounder at OL, and rookie WR's
you're retarded why did we miss on tom brady in the 6th round of the draft? we did we miss on russell wilson in the 3rd round of the draft? why did we miss joe montana in the 3rd round of the draft? just stop it, these things happen all the time the offense is horrible, but we put up 20 against the panthers. that's more than i expected
Those guys are most likely being replaced or have been with the regime change. That's why it's hard to blame Idzik for the current talent thats been assembled on this team. We got to give him a chance.
Agreed, i'm not even close to writing off Milliner yet. He's had his moments where he has played well this year. A lot of bad, but i've seen some good too. Geno on the other hand hasn't had any good in a long while...
With our success in the run game I had a thought about what would happen if we seriously committed to ground and pound. Could this work? Run Chris Ivory Run Sheldon Richardson Keep alternating them play after play. Once, every 4-7 plays throw in a play action pass to keep the defense honest.
The offense is just a total mess. What do you expect when the only two offensive players the Jets have selected in the 1st round since '06 are... Sanchez and Keller. Geno is a raw rookie who isn't good enough (at this point at least) to overcome the below average offensive line and severe lack of play makers. The RB's are competent-decent but aren't good enough to carry an offense that has a below average QB. The WR's... we know. They're terrible. Tone has been bad, Stephen Hill's atrocious (and done for the year), Kerley is solid and would be a fine #3 on a team that had 2 decent outside WR's, which the Jets don't. TE isn't a strength. Cumberland's a fine backup but that's it. Maybe if the rest of the offense was better Cumberland would be more productive but he's not some surefire starting caliber TE. The offensive line is continuing to regress. Brick's been bad. Mangold is still decent but not the best center in the league anymore. Willie Colon is below average and Brian Winters has had a really rough rookie campaign. Austin Howard has been decent and considering the money they're paying him, a legitimate value. I feel like we've been clamoring for a while for the Jets to focus more on the offense through the draft but they never do. When's the last time you felt like the Jets had a legitimate top tier offense? During Pennington's first run before he got hurt? Vinny in 98? It's embarrassing.
A vision. Want to know what the Jets vision is? Instead of having a plan in place (ways to improve the offense, drafting impact players) some jackass decided to draw a picture of an asshole on a boat on a sunny day and sent it to Woody Who approves of this shit? Of course it wasn't built in a day, but for God sakes draft some WRs get some impact players. I thought at this stage, there would be at least someone I would excited about going forward on offense.
Geno has had 2 straight decent showings. I would bring in a Fitzpatrick or Shaun Hill etc to compete with Geno. The focus of the offseason is to bring in weapons on offense.
It's pretty much the exact same in play calling, except for some more Wildcat. Screens at all the wrong times, deep passes with no hot routes when we are obviously getting blitzed. Abandons the run when it's working. Just because the plays are different doesn't mean similar plays aren't being run at similar moments.
Couldn't agree more. I think the offense in 2004 was pretty solid if I remember correctly. Martin had one of his best years, Moss was a legit threat on the outside and we had a really good O-Line and competent QB in Chad. Before that though maybe 2002 or even 1998 like you said. Our offenses in 2009 and 2010 would have been pretty good as well if we only had a QB. That was the big thing we were missing.
He did nothing until the game was pretty much out of reach. He needs to sit and watch next year or be in a competition with a legit threat to win the job. Not a Mark Sanchez or somebody we know isn't any good but might be better then Geno. A guy who can play well for us. I like Hill, wouldnt mind him but i'd rather shoot higher. I'd love to be able to acquire Cousins in the right deal but I dont know how realistic that is.
