Boomer and Carton were talking about the voting process on the players' side recently, mentioning how it can be a joke, but not always. Carton mentioned an experience where while doing sports coverage in Cleveland years ago, he was in the locker room and heard players shouting to each other, "Who are we voting for at (position)?" Boomer offered his experience where he would instruct teammates to vote for their respective opposition: WRs vote for DBs, OL for DL, vice versa and so forth. That's how it should be. There's likely some truth to this with the fan vote considering the 'circus' reputation this franchise has had lately, but last year made me think it's not entirely true. I was fully expecting Cro to get snubbed last year based on the team's overall joke of a year but was happy to be wrong.
And that just shows how meaningless the voting is. The selections rely on all those guys sitting in that tattered overstuffed chair in Grandma's basement pecking away at that Tandy computer. Of course all those guys would love it just as much if they only THOUGHT they were selecting the roster. Hmmm, I wonder...
Quick quiz: Tommy Bohanon... Mohammad Wilkerson... Which one of these names is going to receive more love from a random collection of know-nothing Americans?
You have to be kidding, the only reason 3 or4 of these guys haves shot at the pro bowl is the fact that anybody who is a top vote getter wo't be interested in playing in the stupid game. A much more interesting discussion would be the high draft picks waste of money players who have no shot at all of getting there, No. 1 pick Kyle Wilson, Never a sniff of the pro bowl, Project No.2 pick Vlad Ducasse, only plays special teams line, Stephen Hill, No.2 pick we won't notice him missing now onIR. Chromatid, it has been over with for awhile, Holmes, not even in the mood to play will be released after this year, Milner, No. 1 but I still have hope. Running backs nothing close, we chucked Woodhead to the street to keep Joe McKnight, Cotchery, let him go for Derek Mason, Coples, showing signs but taking way too long, Rex's hands are all over this mess of personnel decisions, he must be held accountable at the end of this season.
it is pretty brutal the lack of talent on this team. wilkerson is really the only guy who you could consider a viable candidate for any kind of pro bowl.
Players like Richardson and Harrison are very productive players that are not stars to people who do not know the team. Run stop percentage is not seen by most fans. Pro Football Focus @PFF 21h Jets DT Damon Harrison has more than 2x the next best run-defense grade among DTs this season. 34.5 vs 17.0 (Dareus)
Most meaningless game in all of sports. Don't agree with Bohannon or Mangold but the others should be a shoe in
Richardson is entered in the DT category so he doesn't have to beat out Wilk or Watt. Poe is probably near the top of Pro Bowl voting for DT's. Richardson is in 7th meaning he only needs to pick off the #6 player. Pro Bowl is a joke if Tommy Bohanon makes it. He's absolutely terrible as a run-blocker, has decent hands though.
