He dosen't play like a Jet. He does not have that no fear mentality. He's soft. Wes Welker once said that even though he's usually the smallest player on the field, he wanted to be the toughest. More than your opponent. Also Steve Smith. Hill is bigger in size and pussyness.
Another signature Terry Bradway pick. Bradway, the biggest POS front office guy with zero accountability in NFL history.
Hill should reach out to Calvin Johnson or Demaryius Thomas after the season and try to spend some time with them. A guy will put out some effort to help you if he shares a common bond and he knows you're really listening to him and his effort might produce results. Hill's not going to be as good as those guys but he could learn a lot of the tricks of the NFL trade from them.
Am I the only one that finds this sudden development just a little too convenient? Hill has sucked, so his playing time was scaled back. He was even inactive for a game and you have to wonder just how bad you have to suck to not be considered essential for the Jet offense such as it is these days. Ryan was hot for Holmes to come back, but not so much for Hill. It was only recently that the "swollen knee" explanation started making the rounds. I think Rex, by sending the kid home for the year, is buying time and hoping 2014 brings better results than this year because if there ever was a player that took a huge step in the wrong direction, it was Hill.
Rex and Idzik are buying time for both Hill and Geno Smith by putting Hill on IR. It's very hard to develop a struggling QB at the same time you are playing a struggling WR. The rest of the year needs to be about putting the best possible receiving talent on the field with Geno so the Jets can fully evaluate him.
Im so sick of this guy, it hurts even more knowing the receivers we could have taken instead (alshon jefferey)
If that's true, they're running outta time Br4d. I hope they empty the bench and the PS and let everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY play these last 3 games. Perhaps this new kid they activated can be both fast AND can catch. Something we haven't had since Santana Moss was exiled.
I understand the point of view here however it's important to remember that figuring out if Geno is a real option at QB moving forward is the most important thing the Jets are likely to be doing in the last 3 games. You don't sit Holmes, Kerley or Winslow when you're trying to figure out whether giving Geno NFL quality receivers and tight ends is going to make a difference for him and the team. We've already seen Geno with Salas, Sudfeld, Nelson and company and it was an ugly sight to behold. That doesn't bode well moving forward but the answer is not to give him more road kill to throw too just to see if they're any good. Holmes - Nelson - Kerley in the slot and Winslow. That's who the Jets should have on the field when they want Geno to throw the ball. That's not a good collection of NFL receiving options but it is an NFL set of receiving options.
Since we're dealing with the "cream of the crap" regarding the quality of our Wr's, I have to defer to your opinion on this. Although Geno to any of the Wr's you mentioned will have to suffice as a measuring stick, I'm not so sure it will give an accurate picture as outside of Kerley, none of those guys will be around in '15 and beyond. Geno needs help. There's no arguing that. Holmes is pretty much outta here, Winslow and Nelson perhaps memories by '15. Geno and the Jets are in a pretty bad position here and I'm not sure that a true eval can be accomplished when you have one Wr playing out the string and several others that are in the league by the strength of their fingernails. Dark days indeed my friend.
Man. No player worth less has gotten more ink than this guy. He should have been cut a long time ago or traded.
It typically takes a WR 3 years to fully develop. That said..we've seen some improvements in terms of his progression from year 1 to 2. I think it's safe to assume he's not the future #1 or #2 like he was drafted to be. But the NFL isn't about just 1 or 2 receiving threats anymore. You need a full platoon of complimentary talent. That said he has proven that he CAN get behind NFL defenses w/ his speed & CAN be a big target. I think long term he'll be a decent contributor this offense.A real asset as #4 type receiver. Certainly not what we expected but #4 WR is much more important role than it used to be.
He should be working out with Demaryius Thomas this offseason. Thomas took a couple of seasons to develop and Hill should be the same. Hill compares much more closely to Thomas than Johnson. Thomas still doesn't high point the ball that well, but he knows how to use his speed, runs much better routes than he used to, and saw a huge jump in year 3 (obviously Peyton is a factor). Hill needs to watch a lot of tape on Thomas. Working and watching some tape on Calvin would surely help him, but I think Thomas more so.
So how is this different than the past two seasons? This organization continues to neglect the QB position, thus stunting its growth. It happened with Sanchez, now it's Geno. I don't care who the fuck you have back there...if the line can't block, receivers can't get open, can't catch...neglect and wast of project draft picks has put this offense in the position it's in
U can put this thread to bed until the 2014 season begins because according to both Cimini & Manish Hill has been IRed for the remainder of the 2013 season
Does anyone have more information on the extent of his knee injury? He's been hobbling around for weeks. Surgery? I want to think he can contribute down the road but if his knees are shot, there might not be a future here.
