You're right, Smith benefits from Kerley and Winslow on the field. But I'm only saying that Kerley is enough of a cure to the offense when he is on the field for Smith(see the ATL, NE, and OAK game) and he sure is better than Salas and the underutilized Sudfeld. If you go into a game and expect guys like Salas and Sudfeld who are #3 options at best on the field to help a young QB to succeed you get the second half of the Saints game where the offense only put up two field goals in the second half and where the ground game has to be rolling. Kerley is not a cure but just a piece of what a young QB needs going forward and that is a reliable target on the field to keep defenses honest. I'm just saying having a legitimate #1 and #2 on the field would help a rookie QB greatly and that Kerley is a reliable #3 who when he has been on the field I'm more optimistic that Geno will have a better game than when he has been absent. Kerley is not the reason the JETS only win because there are three phases to the game.
To be frank I do not buy into the argument that the main reason Smith has been underwhelming is because of lack of talent at wideout. Would he have been doing better with better receivers? Yes, but probably not all that much better. His completion percentage would be higher, but he'd probably still have far too many turnovers, since pretty much all of them were bad throws to the other team. In other words I do not think Smith would have been playing at a quality NFL Qb level even with above average receivers. My hope for him is that he improves his fundamentals in the off season. Will better receivers next year help him? Yes, but not enough to make him a good player if he fails to improve his own performance.
Yes, crap! It provides nothing that I could not have gotten off a message board for FREE. It's clear that the writer(s) do(es) not follow the team closely. And it comes across as one of wanna-be youtube pundits. Are these guys interns or something? To each his own. If that was your brand of in depth analysis. I suggest you subscribe.
and next season when Dee Milliner is selected for the first of his ten consecutive pro bowl appearances, hopefully you will show up and admit you were wrong and haven't got a clue :finssuck::finssuck::finssuck:
I totally agree. Lose Holmes, Sanchez and Cromartie and you got tons of cap room. Restructure Harris (He's WAY overpaid, and if he won't restructure, cut him). The jets have lots of picks and lot of cap room. Then just find a coach who has a brain and doesn't tatoo the worst QB in the league's number to his body and doesn't draft on just one side of the ball.
Foolish to compare Revis to Millner. Revis made plays his rookie year and showed potential each and every game. Millner is better because the Jets have a better record?:rofl::rofl::rofl:
Actually Revis was extremely underwhelming his first season and was much scorned and berated my the same sort of short sighted folks currently writing off Milliner
Did you just become a fan this season? http://www.sbnation.com/2012/6/9/30...etter-corner-than-deion-was-in-his-first-five Revis made plays his rookie year. He wasn't perfect of course but you could see his potential. Millner is no-where near what Revis did his rookie year, Millner has been embarrassed by undrafted rookies Stop yer trolling
Are you serious?!?! No QB would be lighting it up with the targets the JETS have on offense. Playmakers on the outside make a difference for QBs. AJ Green, Megatron, and every talented Pro Bowl level WR make a DIFFERENCE. As great as Tom Brady has been with okay WRs on the outside with NE his best year ever as a pro was with Randy Moss. Even if the JETS had Adrian Peterson, they would still need very good not average #3 WRs on the outside. Fundamentals like footwork, eye manipulation, timing with WRs matters greatly for QBs in the NFL but to say even if Smith did have above average WRs his numbers would be the same is a joke. When defenses don't respect the lack of talent on the outside a QB will have many growing pains. Getting above average to very reliable targets on the outside and on the field is all I'm saying.
I like Milliner's potential even though he has shown it infrequently. Revis was a very good rookie. He only pails in comparison to Revis going forward. The guy was one of the best CB's in the league his first year. He has been the best every year since prior to his knee injury. If Patrick Willis hadn't been as dominating as he was Revis would have been in contention for Defensive Rookie of the year. Willis simply blew away the field in 07. I don't think it's fair to look at Milliner and compare him to Revis. I do think Milliner is going to be a very good CB in the NFL. Revis, before his injury was beyond very good. You have it right in your memory Dumstein must have been watching Barrett.
Unfortunately that is only one aspect of being a CB. Revis's awareness on the field was top-notch. Comparing the two isn't even fair
Hey espn experts, #1 offseason need: fire Terry Bradway Tannenbaum had projected we would take Cordarrelle Patterson at #9. Bradway is a bum. Woody must love him. He apparently has a contract for life. So long as he's alive, we can look forward to more years of 50+ % bust ratio on early round picks, half of which we trade up to get, and count on year after year of mid-to-late round picks with zero upside. It's easy to identify need areas. But you get that done by hiring better guys who can actually pick better guys.
I get a kick out of insider, complete garbage, an people pay for it, save your money, you get the same hogwash for free from bleach report
No need to get snarky. As I've said in subsequent posts, if this was supposed to be a thorough in-depth analysis, then I definitely agree with you, it's hardly that and deserves the criticism. I just think that everything they said was accurate, which isn't always the case in those kinds of articles, especially from ESPN. As I read it, I wasn't expecting any kind of thorough in-depth analysis due both to its brevity and the fact that it was ESPN. I was actually surprised that there was as much correct information as there was. If I want in-depth analysis, I'm not gonna go to ESPN or any other talking head. I agree that fans can often do as well, if not better a job, than many in the media.
That guy is a total troll and has a fetish for Dee more then Rex does for feet. Dont feed that troll anymore....
