Im assuming Cro is hurt worse than is let on. He really looks pretty bad but we dont have many options after him. Id like to see him come back fairly cheap next year and hopefully have a bounce back season kind of like Pace this year who was playing hurt last season.
I think Cromartie has played his way off the 2014 team. It's $9.5 million in cap savings if he is cut with $5.5 dead money. Add in Sanchez ($8.3 cs, $4.8 dm), Holmes ($8.25 cs, $2.5 dm) and Revis ($13 off the books). That's $39 million in cap space with only $10.8 in dead money.
I seriously doubt it,Cro has had a hip injury all season. We have to many other needs we dont need CB to be another need to fill.Im sure Cro will return to form when healthy.
Who said anything about drafting? Cromartie is playing like a bottom-end CB right now and being paid like an elite player. He is not the same player as last year. Is he hurt? Or did the wear and tear of the NFL life catch up to him? No one knows for sure. But, there will be plenty of FAs and cap casualties around the league who could do a better job than Cro and a fraction of the cost next year. In the NFL, it's much better to be a year early than a year late on these types of things.
I never said anything about drafting anyone.CB isnt the biggest need on the team .Id be more concerned with the Saftey posisition then CB.We have gaping needs on offense i have faith that Cro can return to form just add a cheap veteran for depth and fix what really needs to be fixed
Tired of the injury excuse with Cro. If he is hurt enough to be a liability out there then it's up to Rex to get him off the field periodically. When our entire secondary is outrun by a FULLBACK then you know where part of the problem lies.
Word is he's got a concussion. Shouldn't affect the mental aspect of his play. And speaking of Cro's concussion...what the fuck, Ed Reed. Can you please confine yourself to hits on the other teams players?
He's been thrust into a role that doesn't suit him. He can't play the Revis role where he matches up with all types of #1 WR's. Cromartie's sweet spot is covering long, linear vertical threats who mostly run straight down the field. Randy Moss was a perfect matchup for Cro because they are built similarly in that they are at their best when running in a straight line. Cro can't matchup with smaller/shiftier/quicker WR's like Revis did. No one can really do what Revis did. Cro's strength is running straight down the field with a long speed WR like Moss. When you get him moving horizontally, having to flip his hips and make quick transitions, having to chase guys through trash across the middle of the field when he's already afraid of contact, he's going to be exposes. That being said, he has also been beat vertically more often than usual this year, but some of that is definitely to the poor safety play. Dawan Landry, an old guessing gambler in Reed, and guys like Jarrett and Allen are a far cry from the safety tandem of LaRon Landry and Bell. Hell, even Jim Leonhard was much more reliable
I'll agree w/ the mental part...so that would be a concern..but Cromartie really can lay the wood when he's in space. He's not physical from a press coverage "on the ball" perspective but when given space to take angles & close...he's effective. Throw him out in centerfield in dime situations or matched up aganst certain TE's & keep his assignment simple while using him as the team's returner.
If Rex were to use him in that way, then yes, he could probably be effective. The problem is that we know that's not how Rex uses his safeties.
He got beat badly on a 3rd down conversion along the sideline...the popcorn vendor had better coverage on the receiver. ...it WAS after Reed knocked Cro out of the game for a bit. Thanks again Mr. Reed...
I'm not a Cro fan even before this year I thought there were many plays he screwed up on including last season. There always seems to be something strange happening with Cro, he's out of position, a ball bounces a strange way, or like yesterday he collides with a teammate. I never thought he was one of the best corners in the NFL like they were saying about him last year. But there is a good chance that his hip injury is a big part of the problem with him. In spite of all the above mentioned strange happenings with him he can cover better than the average DB. btw he might have suffered a concussion on Sunday.
This isnt the Seahawks with the next man up routine. We have zero depth on this team .Tell me what player on the roster would you wanna see take Cros place?Darren Walls?Kyle Wilson?Gimmie a break
Cromarties likley out for Sunday,NFL network reports he played thru second half unknowingly with a concussion. He complained of headaches after game.
The way some people write on these boards you'd think they'd never had an injury and had to still perform their jobs. It is almost impossible to be 100% with a damn headache let alone running around with a hip injury against some of the fastest, most athletic people in the nation. Just sayin.
i agree he probably has a nagging injury, but explain to me then WHY IN THE FUCK IS HE RETURNING KICKS????????? its also entirely possible that this is cromartie and kind how he goes, up and down, amazing and then blah. he has not been a consistently great cb in this league. he has flashed at times but is much more well known for INCONSISTENCY.. and that is what i think he is. sure he may come back and play great next year, but its just as possible that he does not.
