IMO Sanchez isn't the best option for anything and shouldn't even be on the team. Also imo the idea of giving up on Geno at this point and saying that he couldn't even be the backup next season is just silly.
By everyone who is not a Mark Fanboy and who know the game. Not that I think many Mark Fanboys really know the game.
All of these moves are obvious moves with the exception of inserting Sanchez late and I think putting Simms in late instead of Sanchez would have just signaled that Sanchez days with the Jets were numbered. How often does the starting QB not play a down in game 3 of the pre-season? Answer: only when they are hurt or no longer the starting QB. People need to get over that move. The Jets weren't starting the season with Mark Sanchez at QB. They just didn't have good options for 2013.
I pretty much agree with all you said with the exception of Rex. He is definitely NOT the right person to develop a young team. He's undisciplined, too loyal, too clueless about the offense, has proven he is incapable of developing a young QB, and for all his supposed ability as a motivator, one or more units of the team fails to show up all too often, especially following the Bye week. He needs to go if the Jets are to have any realistic shot at winning the Lombardi Trophy at any point in the near future.
How exactly would putting the 3rd string QB in behind the 2nd/3rd string OL at the end of a meaningless preseason game signaled anything regarding Sanchez? I don't see that at all. In fact, I see it the exact opposite. Not playing Sanchez earlier, then inserting him behind the 2nd/3rd string OL signified to me that he was an afterthought and not really in their plans for this season or going forward. IMO one has nothing to do with the other. IMO if Sanchez was gonna play in that game, it should have been much earlier when the 1st string OL was still in.
Condolences for the loss of Idziks father, puts a lot of things in perspective. Thoughts w/ the family.
