Better than MS, the worst QB ever.

seems like Cutler or drafting a Qb are the most popular choices. not really a surprise, ones a consensus best man in free agency the other has Johnny Football and everybody else in it. Still don't think another rookie will help ANYTHING but whatever, different opinions.

Now I don't know about anybody else, but what i think is the most likely thing to happen (keep in mind this isn't neccaissarily what I WANT to happen but what I think is most LIKELY going to happen anyway) is that ulitmaey Vick will be brought in.

why? our fair coordinator Morningwood, Vicks's played in his offense before, and by the looks of him this year he still has something left in him of value... as a one year potential veteran starter anyway.

Injuries and age are concern and of course theres his asshole history. theres no ignoring that but in a way with his experience, knowledge of the playbook, Speed and improved throwing ability and maturity he may actually be the best candidate to provide competition or potentially start outright for next years team.

a one year deal with the guy for just over a million or so wouldn't be a terrible decision no matter how much one might hate him for all thats transpired during his career. this thought is based entirely on the notion that the coaching staff is retained otherwise I doubt he's seriously considered.

also rex said he liked him... a gut feeling tells me if rex and MM are around Vick will be too, for better or worse... just a theory.

Will Jay Cutler be cheap, or will someone give him franchise money? If he's cheap, I do not mind that at all.

I would go after cutler or vick if available and wouldn't hesitate to draft one of the top QB's if they're there when we're picking. Not that Cutler or Vick are great long term solutions but they're both FAR better than anything we have in the stable right now. It would be nice to look at QB as a position of strength for once. Let the young guys prove they belong on the field before we throw them out to the wolves.

Draft a fucking QB AND/OR cut Simms, ask Mark to take a HUGE paycut and either start the season as QB and let the rook sit and have Geno as the 3rd QB.

Cutler won't be able to demand big money. Well.... He won't get it. He has not had the performance to ask it. I would go with him from that list but I really like Cousins from the Redskins. Next year is the last year of his rookie contract. The Redskins would be smart to get something for him. I would give one of our thirds for him.

You get Cutler, add Maclin and Pettigrew and a vet oline man. Draft a receiver with your first round pick. So now you have weapons for the new QB and you groom Geno for a few years. Oh and I'd sign another QB to be the backup and have Geno be inactive for the year.

How many years are you signing Cutler for? If it is 4 yrs Geno will be out of the picture.

I gotta say I hate the idea of giving the job to a player thats actually played LESS actual games than Smith has.

Cousins sounds like the next Flynn, plays lights out for like a game so lets ignore the fact that he has very little starting experience and give him the starting job and bags of money.

I'm not against signing somebodies current backup, but can they maybe have more time on the field than our rookie does in one years time? Cousins is hardly a proven enough commodity to trade picks for. playing well in a pinch doesn't equate to coming into a new team and being starting material.

He makes Vick sound great in comparison... the more I think about it the more that makes sense if and only if MM is still here.

This is the NFL. Players can be cut at the snap of a finger. But I'd sign Cutler for 4 years. If Geno shows you something you go back to him.

Cutler is signed, he will take all of the reps away from Geno. How is he going to show something if he's holding a clipboard on the bench with no reps?

You sign Cutler, Geno will not have a future with the Jets. He will not have an opportunity to show what he has unless Cutler is hurt.

    The scenario doesn't make sense.

Who gives a shit if he is? It's not like we have old CBA 1st round money invested in him. He's a 2nd round pick with a very friendly contract.

He either steps up and shows he can beat out whatever QB we sign or he isn't ready. Aren't we supposed to be all about competition?

I'm sick of seeing shitty players on the field just because we don't want to admit we made bad picks. If they can't earn their way on the field too bad, fuck off.

I'm not the guy with the Geno Smith avatar. I never thought Geno was the answer to begin with nor do I believe he is ready to start in this league.

I personally hope we sign some vet or draft another QB early along with some weapons

Then why are you concerned about him being gone in 4 years? I can't criticize Geno because I have an avatar with him in it? Thanks, good to know.

Geno can show improvement in practice and the offseason. He doesn't have to be the starter to get anther shot nor does any QB we sign have to stay on the field if they're struggling.

Cutler got Mike Shanahan and Lovie Smith fired. Both teams lost their edge when he showed up and that came through in the results. Both coaches thought they had their guy and then went out the door a few years later.

It just is what it is.

Talent is not enough in the NFL. You have to be talented and have strong leadership qualities and all indications are that Cutler is short in the leadership department.

Ahh shit I didn't know that. I heard a lot about him years ago (the 5 yr old) as my bro lived near by and their kids played together. That's a shame, I guess the kid was phenomenal.

I'm not concerned about Geno. I dont care when he leaves. There is no way after 4 years on the bench that Geno would be the starter on this team. That never happens in the NFL. How much can you truly know holding a clipboard? He will be a career backup nothing more. Do you want a career backup starting for the Jets? I would hope by then that we have an answer at QB.

Cutler is signed hypothetically. Do you really see him struggling like Geno has now?

You are either the guy or you are not. I'm not waiting 4 years to see if Geno is the man given some wild opportunity.

When you are just as bad as Jimmy Clausen, you have no future as a starting QB. Geno would not get any 1st team reps. He will root on the bench. How is that any different then Kellen Clemens?

So Geno does absolutely nothing in practice and training camp and pre season?
