don't assume the broncos will pay eric decker

its kind of tough to keep julius thomas, peyton manning, demaryius thomas, wes welker, ryan clady, von miller, etc all under contract in the futre

The WR corps is so bad we will need to attack it via both FA and the draft. Provided MM is still the OC Maclin makes sense as he will know the offense.

  3. Maclin & Tate make alot of sense.

Maclin knows Morningweg's system & knows how to be productive. He'll likely come as a bargain due to his injury history.

Tate I would expect the Jets to court based on the Idzik factor & the fact that the Jets seemed to really like him the year of his draft.

Maclin gives you size, route running & experience while Tate gives you quicknes & YAC ability. Not a bad pairing

When was the last time we saw Jet receivers get YAC? The 2010 OT games?

It's pretty exciting that we might get a weapon on offense.

Maclin is pretty likely because of the MM connection. I would love Decker though.

I may be mistaken, but think that Seattle will have a number of FAs with big contracts and not a lot of cap space. They may not be able to afford to sign Tate, or if they do, they may have to let someone go who could help us at another position.

I don't know that anyone is "obsessed" with Maclin, but when healthy, he's a legit #1 WR. He already knows MM's system, which would be another plus. He also is a high character type. Because he's had some injury issues, he may not be as expensive as some of the others. I just don't see Idzik as being the type to hand out huge contracts to FAs. If that's true, then Maclin might be the best FA WR the Jets could sign.

I don't see addressing the WR position as either sign a FA or draft one. I think Idzik will do both, and may (hopefully will) either sign two or draft two. I'd like to see him sign a vet WR and draft two.

I also seriously doubt Idzik will sign anyone that is a head case, has off the field issues (after Goodson), or is a lockerroom cancer. That will remove Britt and probably Nicks from consideration. Both Boldin and Cotch are too old.

Those saying that Denver probably won't let Decker walk are probably right.

Who would you like the Jets to sign in FA?

DHB has hands of granite. He is terrible.

Decker would be a reliable WR2, but he doesn't have the size/speed to dominate. Peyton made him, and we'd be paying an inflated price. Same goes for James Jones.

Maclin would come at a discount since he's coming off an ACL, and assuming his recovery is on track, I could see him being a nice addition. Nicks and Britt are also guys
who could come relatively cheap and potentially provide WR1 talent.

Sanders would be a nice option, but I worry that he would compete with Kerley for snaps.

The three guys I named will come dirt cheap.

Nicks will be one of the highest paid free agents. If we are spending that kind of money I will take Jimmy Graham please.

Jerrico Cotchery against the Pats in the playoffs, 58 yard catch and run with about 49 of it after the catch.

He will be cheap for a reason. He sucks.

Decker and Britt in a heartbeat. And Jerricho Cotchery just for insurance. The more WRs the better for the JETS!!!

Jimmy Graham is the only guy who truly makes an impact. I see no one else on the list worth giving any significant cap space to.

We need to focus on finding a playmaker in the draft. Or a diamond in the rough on a cheap contract.

Golden Tate is a beast. Seattle is too well balanced of a team for him to put up huge stats consistently. However if he gets put in an offense where he's the primary weapon I think he's got true #1 WR potential and there's only around 10-15 of those guys in this league.

Maclin is too injury prone and would scare me away. Be very careful with Decker, he could easily be a product of that high octane system. He's got all the measurables and I liked him in college but he just seems way too inconsistent to invest in. He seems to disappear in games a lot.

Golden Tate has been making crazy highlight reel catches since he was at ND. He would turn into a league wide star in NY IMO.

I do agree with another poster that we need to stock up on WR's. One won't be enough, we need to go after a few at least.
