While I agree RR had to play the "company" man he is also the person who watched the roster go to shit since the 8-8 year which makes him the responsible person as to why the roster we have today is one of the NFLs worst
Every Rex defender wants us to name names about who will come in. Thats for Idzik to decide, but is there a better head coach out there, established or not? Certainly.
Okay Who ???? Name Them. If he goes some place else with a supporting cast , And wins, I'll want to see what your post look's like
Why are so many people on here he'll bent on firing Rex Ryan? Whose the next coach? While Rex is ripped apart for everything that goes on let's take a step back.. Couple things to start with. What coach in the history of the nfl had to deal with back to back rookie qbs? I don't think any. Not having a viable back qb ever.. is that all Rex fault or does that fall on tanny and idzick? What nfl team has had a top ranked defense past 5 years with the bottom ranked offense each year? I don't think any The point I'm making is while Rex isn't perfect.. he had to overcome a ton of problems. Its unheard of to constantly have this good of a defense when the offense is so bad. Just not practical. Teams with good defense traditionally play with offense that are above avg. What coach would do better in the circumstances provided for Rex? The jets are in cap he'll or were because they went all in on going to a superbowl.. had the jets not fallen behind 24-0 to the steelers. They would have.. that's what today's nfl is.. look at the ravens.. they made it-then gutted there team. This is today's nfl. As were always quick to hate and blame someone as a jet fan. My personal scapegoat od idzick. Hate him beyond words. Prob not all fair. But so be it. So what coaches would have done more. Keep in mind Rex was rookie head coach and all most personal went through tanny.. now we have this hump who just a glorified cap guy. He cut off Ryans balls. He has less say so then ever. So what coach would do better.. its all about the qb... Tom coughlin(eli manning) Scum bag belicheck(brady) John fox(peyton manning) Sean peyton(drew brees) Andy reed(alex smith) Could you imagen if RR had any of the qbs above? Seems as if genius coaching is attac0hed to one position. Lol it makes all the difference. Team game ofcourse, but there no denying one guy on the team is more important than all others. Forget about having a servic0eable qb. Rex has had 2 awful ones and god awful at times. No coach can be succesful given the qb situation Rex is working with. None of the above.
what top 5 defense are we talking about? Our defense absolutely blows. Elite? Its barely average. Have you seen how many fucking points we've given up???????????????
When they do draft skill players, they tend to get ones that are not great. When was the last time we had a WR or RB we drafted make a probowl? Keyshawn? Maybe the problem is in scouting. Since Rex has been coach 4 of the 9 picks we've had in the first two rounds have been offensive players. Those were for Sanchez, Vladimir Ducasse, Steven Hill and Geno Smith. It is too early to write off Smith and Hill, but we know at least 2 of the 4 were busts. Also, Ducasse and Sanchez were both a bit inexperienced to be in the NFL, and Hill was a major project because of the offense he came out of in college. Can't we just draft offensive players with a good football Pedigree early in the draft?
It's not the points given up, which is actually minimal it's the points scored , lets face it , the offense svck's. This team with a somewhat decent offense would be in the PO. The defense is tired of holding this team together. I would be to.
Because he is the one who keeps trotting out Sanchez and Sanchez 2.0 without any hint of guilt. He is a terrible HC, but he is a good DC. We already have a DC, we need a HC.
I can't speak for the others, but I want him gone because I don't think they'll ever even win their division with Rex, much less the AFC Championship or the SB. He has shown that he is incapable of learning and adapting. He has little discipline and so does his team. He's clueless about offense, and gets too conservative and passive (plays "not to lose" rather than playing to win). Who the next coach will be is a totally separate issue. You don't hold off on firing someone who is incompetent just because you're "afraid" you won't find someone better. The Jets will always be mediocre with Rex as HC. I'm not willing to settle for mediocrity. Baltimore and Pittsburgh own the Jets and always will as long as Rex is HC. Maybe if Rex knew something about offense and how to handle rookie QBs, the Jets' QB situation and offense would be so awful. Have you ever thought of that? Every team has problems and every HC has to overcome problems and challenges. That's what separates "the men from the boys" and as far as being a HC goes, Rex is definitely a "boy" imo. I want an adult leading/coaching the team. Idzik being your scapegoat not only isn't fair, it's lacking in reality. He got here too late to change the scouting dept. so had to work with Tanny's staff. He wasn't able to fire Rex when he was hired. He had no cap space to work with and a TON of dead weight, overpaid, soft, undisciplined, untalented stiffs on the roster. He himself is a rookie GM. If you're willing to keep giving Rex slack, why aren't you willing to give Idzik any? If Idzik screws the pooch during the coming offseason, then you'll have a reason for him to be your scapegoat (and have a lot of company, including me!). Until then you don't have any rational reasons for blaming him (but hey, who said that we have to logical or rational when it comes to being a fan. lol) We root with our heart, often not with our logical side.
http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/jets/2013/12/rex-ryan-gives-rookies-an-a Oh Rex ... you sucking up to Idzik to keep your job? No accountability here ...
^ If Rex truly believes that this is an A+ draft class at this point in the season then his judgement and ability to evaluate talent is clearly lacking. Another strike against him that shows he's lost the pulse of this team.
Fella, at least think about it. I highly doubt Rex is that delusional, he knows that if your forced into starting 5 rookies on this team, your in for a long season. This is a motivational tactic, nothing more than that. Players feed off of shit like that and using this ploy when your back is against the wall isn't the worst thing you could pull out of the good Ole' bag of tricks.
Just bought mine last week, waiting for amazon to ship it. Very excited, heard there's a lot of good tidbits in there.
I understand the motivational angle yet he could've said he thought it was a good draft class. A+ is very effusive in his praise of what most would consider an average to below average draft class. Richardson saved this draft for the Jets. Rex also could've just said they're a work in progress and getting better, which is something Belichick would say. I think Rex could be a little delusional as a HC and this may cost him his job.
Rex is freaking delusional. He has lost his mind. You don't say that, you just don't. I am so disappointed in Rex right now ...
There's a time to be sarcastic and play that role and there's a time to just shut the fuck up. That was a time for Rex to STFU eh whatever
Not gonna pick apart the whole post, but to say he hasn't 'learned and adapted' is a little foolish. I think he learned that you can't win in this league anymore without a passing attack; ground and pound is over. What did he do? He hired a pass first OC in MM. Granted, we have shit off skill players and a QB to work with, but to say he hasn't learned or adapted is wrong. He lost the locker room a couple years ago? What did he do? He learned from it. There hasn't been a single issue with this locker room since '11.
Bro. All your other angles and suggestions are nowhere near as impactful to a players psyche than what he said. Literally nothing you suggested would have the same impact. It's not about what you, media, or anyone else thinks other than the players. It's only for them. So I don't care if you can read between the lines, we can obviously see that statement is not 100% true. It's not about our point of view though.
