Part of a wide receiver's job is to get open so a QB can throw the ball to you. He's not getting looks because he's not making himself available for looks..

As for his improved hands? Well, you must see something we don't see because he's only caught one ball this entire month so I'd say that's a pretty small sample to judge from...

When was it said he was a 4 year project? Who uses a 2nd round pick on a 4 year project that might pan out?

I also never said I agreed with his draft position. I was very high on Alshon Jeffery.

Who did you think was a better choice "available". Do you have an example?

Looking over the list of WRs drafted in 2012, T.Y. and Jeffery are the only 2 on the board that are right now in a much better place then Hill. And both of them have had arguably some of the best QBs in the league throwing to them.

Hill,.. Not so much? Also, Both of those players have DOUBLE the amount of targets Stephen Hill does this year... Double.

He's not getting looks because our QB completes 5 passes a game and half of them are on screens. Hill is almost never Geno's first read, why that is, I don't know, but Geno almost never gets past that first read.

How many passes has he dropped this year?

What the hell are you trying to argue? I said the scouting department did a terrible job, and apparently you agree?

The only thing I took from that article is that I'm very glad Clinkscales is no longer associated with the organization because the only similarity between Hill and Calvin Johnson is that they once attended the same university. I know a few guys that went to Georgia Tech as well, but I wouldn't compare them to Calvin Johnson.

HE'S NOT GETTING OPEN. That's why Geno isn't looking his way. You really think he's running around open and Geno is just ignoring him?

Geno Smith might be terrible, but this organization is desperate for weapons. If Hill was open and Geno wasn't looking his way- our experienced OC would devise a way to make it happen. (whether its bench Geno or drill it in his head to find the kid) The fact of the matter is they are calling screen passes because their starting WR can't do anything but run straight ahead and block.

I'm not even going to respond to how many passes he's dropped this year. That might actually be a relevant question if he wasn't invisible week in and week out.

But how many targets has he had? There is no trust between the QB and receiver right now.

A former Jets scout said that the team considers WR Stephen Hill, a 2012 second-round draft choice, a "four-year project."

That is my bad, I thought the above statement was part of the article, not just underneath a caption.

You said, nobody in the NFL is ever drafted to be a 4-year project. Well, that statement was from a Jets scout.

I don't think Hill should have been our 2nd round pick because projects are a luxury we couldn't afford. He would have been drafted in the second round by another team anyway. Obviously, now that we have him I want him to succeed, but I also understand that it will take time.

Wide recievers that get open and are productive tend to get more targets. that should be more of a testament to Hilton and Jeffrey's abilities to play the WR position then an excuse for Hill.

I saw that, but there's a reason why he's a "former Jets scout" and not still employed. Which was my point.

I think there is a receiver open most plays. Geno is not finding that receiver because he stares down his first read and if they don't eventually get open, he takes a sack or throws it away. I'm not saying Hill is running wide open every play, but is there a receiver who does? Geno is afraid to make any tough throws. Sometimes, whether you believe in your receiver or not, you just have to make the throw. An incompletion is better than a sack.

Isn't it a coincidence that as soon as Geno stopped going downfield, Hill's targets and production have gone down? Why would Hill all of a sudden be invisible after being productive early in the season? It starts with the QB.

Enough with the QB excuse, Fitzgerald has been putting up numbers for years with average at best QB's. Brandon Marshall put up numbers with Henne and Matt Moore, Reggie Wayne put up numbers with Curtis Painter.

You're using exceptions, not the rule. How about 2012 Larry Fitzgerald? Randy Moss with the Raiders? 2011 was Wayne's most unproductive season in almost 10 years.

Drafting someone to be a 3 or 4 year project is known as grooming him for the next team, because you're not going to give him a big second contract when it took him 4 years to earn the first one.

Fitzgerald was still productive last season. Moss had one bad season in Oakland. Wayne was still close to a 1000 yards.

Except you're using some of the most polished WRs in the game as examples. I'm not saying Hill is that. In fact I'm saying closer to the opposite. Hill has a lot of work to do to be anywhere close to those guys.

But saying that because he has dropped off this season ( in a month where our QB completed < 30 passes, and stopped throwing the ball down field, his strength ) is his fault and that he should be cut from the team is just dumb.

Those are not good seasons for any one of those receivers. With average QB play, they are all capable of 100+ catches and 1200 yards.

How many 1000 yard receivers has Sanchez had? That was all on the receivers and not at all on the QB? The QB excuse is valid when you have shit QBs.

In every sport there are busts, it's just how it is. However, at the same time in other sports the player did very well in college and they just can't translate their skill to the next level. I feel like in football you have too many instances where players are drafted high due to their natural athletic ability rather than skill level or proven continual success in the lower levels.

I also think a big part of it is that there's no minor football league where teams can send players to play full time and develop. Maybe if such a system existed, a player like Stephen Hill would have either developed there or been weeded out before he ever put on a Jets jersey.

My point is that Hill deserves his share of the blame. He needs to step up he can't get open and the QB doesn't even trust him enough to throw him a pass in jump ball situations. I've never even seen him win a jump ball.
Considering who was throwing them the ball it was.
