Yes they did. They were down 44-33 and then ended up leading like 55-46 at one point. Pretty good run. Not really an impressive win, but it was needed to keep some people off the ledge. They get Cuse in two weeks. Let's see what happens then.
Appreciate the candor, but still, the Big East is 'our' conference, the ACC is a collection of mid-South schools (notwithstanding Boston College's shameful money grab and the recent football-related fallout). I mean, the ACC? Ugh.... I'll take the win but they have to get over this habit of coming out flat and having to depend on their talent advantage to come back. Yesterday they were brutal, absolutely brutal in the 1st half against a Ga. Tech team that is a bottom-rung SEC team. They're going to really have to pick it up by the time they face Whiny Boeheim's 'ACC' Syracuse in 2 weeks.
'Nova beats #24 Iowa to win the Battle for Atlantis. After that emotional win against Kansas, to come back in the 2nd half and force OT and win shows me a lot. They're not going to be a top 5 ranked team but they can absolutely play with pretty much anyone.
tough loss for Carolina a week after the big win over Louisville, UAB did a great job to throw as many defenders at Paige as possible and w/o him the Heels don't have any other reliable scorers. It didn't help to only attempt 11 FTs while USB attempted 28 and of course they were 4-11 from the line so FT shooting cost them again.
I would have been, w/ all the losses the Heels may have climbed into the top 10 had they won last night.
You have to remember that Carolina always had a ton of NY area guys on their teams and that is a huge reason why I began following them. Not only was Carolina on TV a ton they also got a ton of media coverage from NY press.
^^ Yessir junc, I'm aware of Tobacco Road University's 'Frank McGuire' roots. ;-) That said: justice has finally been served with the latest AP rankings rightfully including Villanova (#14) and Dayton (#25) and dropping those charlatans, North Carolina out of the Top 25. Unfortunately, the good ol' boy network Coaches poll kept these TarHeel imposters hovering at #25 while having 'Nova ranked only #19.
UAB isn't bad and unlike most top programs the Heels actually play road games. I don't think they should have fallen out, just into the 20-25 range.
Actually 19 in the coaches poll. I'll still take it. Challenge will be staying ranked all year. Only big east team in the top 25 is troubling even though it's early.
Belmont isn't bad either and let's not forget the Heels are missing their best player and another top 6 player. If they shot decent from the FT line they still win both games but they didn't.
If...if that dog Derek Coleman (8 measly points) doesn't choke on the front end of a 1 and 1, Syracuse wins the NCAA championship and no one remembers Keith Smart. I'm going out on a limb. You don't like Gonzaga.
and if KU doesn't shoot 12-30 from the FT line SU has zero titles and Carmelo is remembered as a choker in college as well as the NBA:grin:
Michigan State's physically dropping like flies vs. No. Car. That and those pre-game nachos must've dulled the Spartan's competitive edge cause they're just going through the motions.
are you making excuses? give the undermanned Heels credit for going on the road and beating the #1 team in the Country.
