The only thing that I think is holding him back from being a great prospect is arm stregnth imo. Its solid, but I think theres a little to be desired. Obviously arm strength isnt the end all be all of the QB position though. I think he could be like Matt Ryan in that sense. Id certainly be happy with him in the 2nd and a WR like Mike Evans in the 1st. I dont think he'll be a top 10 pick mainly due to the depth at the position this year.

I agree although I think his arm is better than we give him credit for.

I've been calling him Matt Ryan 2.0 all year.

We aren't going to catch Jacksonville or Houston. Houston is so freaking bad.

Carr and Fales are my guys

You must have loved the game the other day

We may not catch Hous or Jax, but Atlanta could bag the top pick and they'll trade out for a kings ransom.

Jax seems to be playing really well as of late. they play Houston this week and could easily win that game. I haven't looked at the rest of their schedule but the way we are playing now I don't think we will win another game.

I don't think Houston will draft a QB in the first, I could be wrong.

The thing that will keep Houston from drafting Bridgewater or Manziel (home state PR) is Clowney. The Texans are not going to be able to resist putting Clowney opposite J.J. Watt and they'll be absolutely right in that call. They'll put Whitney Mercilus on Watts shoulder.

i don't want to draft a QB this year unless it's later, we need to set the foundation for the future and this is the year to do it

They've been there and done that with Matt Schaub. I think they'd be more likely to take a prospect later on in the draft and match him up against Keenum and maybe even Schaub in training camp. Schaub would have to take a big contract cut to have that happen.

Geno missed some awful throws but out of all the things you sadly watched yesterday, that was the only blemish you can come out of that?

The OLine was awful, the targets could not do anything, our QB play by both guys was awful, playcalling was hit and miss.

That offense just fucking sucks collectively. I feel bad you went to watch that honestly. Nobody deserves that.

Dude, this is a thread about 2014 NFL Draft QBs as top 10 picks.

This is not a thread about OLines or WRs or playcalling.

It's about QBs and tangentially whether we need to draft one or not.

Geno missed WIDE OPEN WRs literally standing still 10 yards from him and he missed them by 10 yards.

That had NOTHING to do with the OLine or the WRs or the playcalling.

Please stay on topic--if you want to discuss OTHER positions that we need to think about drafting or other college players at other positions that impressed you, please feel free to start another thread.

    Thankee.

You brought up Geno Smith and told Geno fans to STFU. What does that have to do with the topic at hand?

Cutler is head and shoulders better than Schaub ever was. Don't know if they have the cap space though. Regardless that would be a terrifying scenario.

Another guy who has it backwards.

The QB IS the foundation for the future, not the complimentary pieces.

Rule Number 1: Do not draft QBs in crappy years for QBs.

Rule Number 2: Draft QBs in great years for QBs.

Rule Number 3: If there are some REALLY QBs coming out in a great year for QBs, do not wait for "later", do it early and grab a stud. Sit him if you have to, develop him behind a veteran free agent. But GET him.

You are going to have probably 8 more picks after the first round plus a boatlaod of cash for free agency--that's where you get your WRs and TEs and RBs and OLineman.

Geno is our QB. He is in way over his head and was an ok QB in a bad class for QBs. Geno fans want to defend Geno and care less about the team and would prefer to deflect talk about drafting another QB next year.

There are some great QBs coming out next year that are being discussed somewhere.

    Yeah, in THIS thread.

I don't mind taking Murray in say round 4 and let him rehab and learn at the same time and come in by midseason next year if Geno or whoever our QB will be in 2014 can't get it done.

Would Idzik spend our newly found money in FA though? Your going to have to overpay to get those position players in FA unless you go for bargain players like a Fred Davis who may have nothing left. That's what I am wondering.

I care about the team, it is just I don't want a QB so early but I know that's unpopular.

I just want Mike Evans or Sammy Watkins in round 1 in the worst way. I would kill to have a go to WR, even if it may take a year for them to catch up with the speed of the game and get caught up with route running.

So if Mariota, Carr, AJ, Mettenberger and Manziel all grade out as 1st rounders, you'd prefer to wait in the hopes that (i) Murray isn't taken in the 3rd and (ii) HOPE that this year was just a mirage about Geno.

I get it, you'd prefer Geno over any of the top QBs other than Teddy because you know we'll have no shot at him. You don't want anyone to supplant Geno no matter how good they may be and no matter how badly we MAY have missed with Geno?

It's not that hard to change an avatar, but to change infatuation I guess that may take longer.
