Who else just saw that on 60 minutes? unreal, its crazy. They plan on having 30 minute delivery after you order a product. The drone flies it out to your address and drops it off. It looked like it will only be on small packages but its still crazy. 0 day delivery is where we are heading,

Its called "amazon Prime air", ill get pictures of it ASAP, it just literally aired though so nothing is up yet.

They said this is a cheaper option to rather than delivery by vehicle. Although of this is where its headed, all the workers at FedEx, UPS, etc might be looking for new jobs in 10 years or so =/

It sounded like its going to be cheaper, Amazon might take a hit when they mass produce these devices but considering they will no longer have to do business with the shipping companies it probably will be the optimal choice for em.

They also talked about Amazon Fresh which delivers food to your house which includes cold stuff like milk, its really insane.

Amazon was beat to it. There's a textbook selling company in Australia who is starting this beginning of 2014.

No way it would be cheaper, you have to either train people to fly these fuckers or hire people that already can fly them(military drone experience). Next is what happens to people who live in a 6 floor apartment building with no dropoff point like myself(I live in the bronx).

Just to clarify it said in the show that people would not be flying these things, they would be done robotically.

Wow even the military uses people, what about people who don't have a dropoff point like me?

I don't see it being successful. Small packages only, having to sign for things, mechanical malfunctions, things not showing up etc etc. I hope it fails miserably. Man is screwing man by subtracting jobs

yea, the mechanical contraptions will fail! these car things will never take off. ridiculous to depend on something that's gas powered and too many parts, it will malfunction. We'll all be riding horses still.

how many drones will be flying shit around for the holidays if this comes true? Will we need air traffic control for these too? I guess we will also need an xmas gift TSA to check things. It will not work, and this is before we even get to the part about malfunctions.

The first drone that crashes and kills someone or causes a massive car wreck that kills dozens will bring a Billion dollar lawsuit.

Or some how takes down a plane?

Do we really need our junk THAT quickly?

or even domestic terrorists,or the guy pissed at the dmv etc. You can get small ones now,or kits for them. They don't go far,but if companies start developing the technology, the possibilities for bad intentions are full of potential.
