I know there are a million of these posts after every game, but I hardly ever start threads on here and just need to get this out. Flame away after if you feel like it.

This loss effectively ended our season. To be honest i'm happy that the Jets at the very least gave us some hope during this season. It wasn't as bad as everyone thought it was going to be...it least not for a while.

I don't blame Idzik for this. He inherited his predecessors mess, now it's time to clean it up. Realistically there wasn't a whole lot he could do this past off season to drastically improve his team. They had big money tied up in guys like Sanchez and Holmes who weren't producing...thats not his fault. He knew he needed a QB and with Geno available in the second round he knew it was a risk worth taking. He added some promising young defenders in the first (fingers crossed with Milliner), and we all know they wanted Austin, but St. Louis traded in front of us to get him. I don't think it was lost on Idzik that we lacked offensive fire power. It just hasn't been there to get yet.

He made some solid albeit small free agent signings. Barnes was playing well before he got hurt, Colon has been solid, and I firmly believe the plan was for Garrard to start and mentor Geno until he was ready, unfortunately Garrard didn't feel he could play.

Anybody with eyes knows Sanchez wasn't the answer, so why not take a shot on Smith? It was worth it, evaluate a guy in a year many have written off anyway. It adds a little excitement and could have been a huge steal. It hasn't worked out. Will it ever? Who knows, I wouldn't just cut him, but this off season Idzik needs to show everyone why he was brought in here. Clean up this mess!!!!!

The offense from top to bottom is a total joke.

    O-Line
Completely average at best. It was much better last year, Moore retiring is very similar to Woody leaving us, both were so good at their positions that they left huge holes to fill. Colon has played fairly well, he's overrated by the NY Media though. He's a solid player, nothing more. He would have been a better substitute for Slauson (whose playing extremely well in Chicago BTW) as oppose to Moore, and Winters is a rookie. He's struggling but it's to be expected, the Duccasse pick really hurt us. Mangold and Brick have seen better days but there not the problem, and Howard was a great find.

    WR
Everything has obviously been said here. It's just awful. Hill can't be trusted, Tone needs to go, Kerley is a slot player, and the rest are all marginal players at best. You can basically take or leave any receiver the Jets currently have, they're all easily replaceable and need to be.

    RB
Probably our best position, sad but true. Ivory is a solid change of pace back, and Goodson has potential as a scat back. Powell is a third string running back. He's not a bad player but he's not more talented then the other 2. If your gonna try to add talent at the RB spot he would be the guy you'd look to replace.

    TE
More marginal players, Cumberland shows flashes but he's a backup, Winslow is an ageing veteran, and Sudfeld is unproven.

    QB
It's a mess. It's not the only reason why our offense is incredibly bad, but it's certainly the biggest. If Idzik wants to prove himself he needs to go out and get a QB. I'm interested to see what happens in Chicago, Tressman, could want his own QB. He seems to know a thing or two about offense so if he goes to management and says he doesn't want Jay, what happens? McCown with not half as much talent as Cutler is playing well for him. Could McCown's play be enough to sell the GM that Tressman is capable of drafting and developing his own QB? I have no idea what the situation there is but at the very least it should be watched.

Another guy to watch is Foles. I wouldn't trade him but HC's (especially Chip Kelly) are weird. They want their own guy back there a lot of the time. I've heard the Eagles were still looking at QB's for next years draft and really like Mariota (obvious connection), who knows if they'll be able to get him or what they'll do. Trades are incredibly hard to predict but that situation deserves watching as well. Jets and Cheifs would be the best trading partners for the Eagles due to obvious connections to the QB.

Those would be the two best options, at this point i'd rather trade or sign a proven QB then draft one but going that route is hard. FA's at the QB spot hardly ever become available and I don't like to throw trades out there cause who knows what will happen or what GM's are thinking.

If not one of those routes though, it's time to draft a QB again, if you see one you like of course. The biggest mistake Idzik could make though is handing whatever QB they draft the starting job without proving himself first. The Jets did it with Geno and did it with Sanchez. If the guy deserves to start then let him start but give him some competition and don't be afraid to sit him on the bench if he is struggling. This idea that it "ruins" a player is stupid and makes no sense.

    Coaching Staff
Firing Rex would be the wrong move. We have a great core of young players on defense, Rex is the perfect guy to coach them. MM is more then capable of handling the offense. But like any coach, he needs some talent to work with.

Like I said in the beginning, I know this isn't anything different from anything anybody else has posted or said. The Jets need so much help on the offensive side of the ball it's scary. Time to see what Idzik is all about.

Yep, John Idzik has a long winter and spring in front of him and his timetable may not be to the liking of the average fan. This was always going to be a very challenging position and Idzik is about to show us how he manages real challenges.

Our TEs are a joke. Cumberland is mediocre. How much of Winslow's success is from roids? Our WRs can't get open. Our o-line can't pass block. And our QB can't get the ball to the receivers.

Just so much work to be done.

    Jets, Jets

Why don't we let Idzik decide who stays and who goes? It's his call, coach and players. You win with good players and the NFL is an offensive league. Good coaches are out there if he wants to make a change. Let him make the call.

The time to trade for Foles was last off season. 19 TD's and 0 ints later that window is likely closed.

firing rex would be the wrong move. Give him one more year to prove his worth with decent talent on offense.

The fact that we won 5 games with this offense is incredible. Just goes to show how valuable he is. No one can blame rex for the terrible production @ QB , WR & and also poor play defending the deep ball. Only mistake I place on him is giving reed minutes over allen

I trust Idzik to make the right moves. This draft will be huge, and I like the way he's approaching it (gaining a lot of picks).

It would be crazy but Chip Kelly is a cocky guy, he wants someone that fits that system.

It's probably a long shot and I understand but I wouldn't be surprised if the Eagles were interested in drafting a QB in the first.

Foles has like 20 touchdowns and 0 interceptions....if he doesn't fit Kelly's system, who would??

    Foles isn't going anywhere, period.

Foles fits it just fine, sure you can't run the read-option (even though it's been shut down whenever used) but when a QB throws 19tds to 0 int then your doing something right.. He most definitely realizes there is NOTHING to change there.

This team is a full 3 year rebuild from being relevant. It's a shame we waste all that time of the young talent we have on defense.

This week there have to be some changes made: on the OL and with receivers. He has to bring in whomever is available and maybe get rid of a few guys in the locker room who could be causing problems. Not sure who but they know who. But my biggest gripe with Idzik is not bringing in a decent veteran Qb this season when he could gotten somebody like a Hasselbeck or Matt Moore instead of getting his "bargain" 2nd round Qb pick and starting the guy even though in training camp they didn't think he was ready. He was so not ready that they were even considering going with Mark as bad as he is.

Great post. Idzik has done more good than bad so far, but his real test comes over this off-season, especially with this killer draft coming up (11+ picks). It's time to create an offense.

"Firing Rex would be the wrong move." Who do you think got us to this point? Why rebuild (and the jets REALLY need to rebuild) with the guy who took you down the toilet to begin with? What has Rex shown to make you think he knows how to rebuild-his lobbying and signing of greybeard Ed Reed? More than anything else, the jets need a new IDENTITY. Cincy lays 49 point on us, the Bills score 37 without their 2 starting wideouts, Miami embarrasses Rex at home again, and you want to continue this insanity with Rex Ryan next year? The very definition of insanity is dong the same thing over and over and expecting things to change.

It really all depends on what Kelly thinks of Foles. Is he the product of a really good stretch of game? idk. Some coaches like trading high on players and getting max value for them. It depends on what he thinks about the guy long term. I wouldnt trade him at all. But it's just something I heard talked about so figured i'd throw it in my post.

In no way am I saying the Jets are going to get Nick Foles. I fully expect us to be drafting a QB.

LMFAO Foles is going nowhere, that ream is rolling with him, Foles may have saved Chip Kelly's NFL career, Foles has 20 TD's and 0 INTs and you think Kelly wants to shop him? Dafuq?

Lol, the window to acquire Foles has vanished. If the Eagles are crazy enough to put him on the trading block, I'd hope we'd all be in on it.

You mentioned a team like Cincy. They've had Marvin Lewis at the helm for how many years now? Look at those other 2 mentioned teams, they've been terrible since the turn of the century. They happen to change coaches a lot.

Everyone always wants to change coaches, but then you got to change coordinators in most cases, and then change systems, and then bring in players that fit that system.

I think Rex is a good coach. I like MM and DT as his coordinators. So i'm not interested in changing. Then your starting over. Not interested in that. I support Rex.

I feel that we can solve alot of our problems this offseason. We have cap room and we will likley have even more if we cut Sanchez and cut or trade Holmes. So between free agency and draft we should be able to solve alot of problems .But the biggest one is the QB problem thats Idiks biggest decison
