It started the minute we gave him a contract. We don't need Holmes, Kerley can do what Holmes does. Holmes is injury prone and a malcontent asshole.
You're right it has. We need to move on. Time to get some real talent. This draft iis perfect for that and not only that, there are a few quality free agents. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
After watching the Raiders tonight McGloin looks like the real deal. They will probably be shopping T Pryor during the off season...
I am not against signing a proven QB while Geno is on the bench. So long as Mark Sanchez never plays for the Jets again.
Who would be opposed to signing a proven QB? The problem is they aren't very often floating around in free agency.
while you are laughing look at the weapons Kellen has. Then try to remember that when Kellen was here and had NO weapons or OL how badly he fared. Have fun but know what you are talking about!
Clemens also has 8 years in the league while Geno has 11 games. I wish the rams didn't steal Tavon Austin from us.
Cutler gets WAY more shit than he deserves -- he's historically had a pretty "meh" O-line and he plays in effing CHICAGO eight times a year and GREEN BAY at least once. If he had the luxury of playing in a dome like Manning, Stafford, Ryan, Romo and Brees or in a warm climate like Rivers I think he'd put up much better numbers. He's got the arm and ability to be a solid starter in the windy mess that is the Meadowlands, which I'm starting to think is an issue for Geno. Don't throw the kitchen sink at the guy, but if he's affordable I'd have no problem with him being here. Schaub is damaged goods.
Tavon Austin has not shown he is an every down NFL player. 60 yard TDs are somewhat flukey, no matter how fast a player is. I prefer a WR that is not the smallest player in the league.
I agree with everything you said about Cutler. If we can get him for cheap we have to do it. This gives us a chance to groom Geno for a few years.
Cutler has Marshall, Forte, and Jeffrey...he has yet to win the big one, been injured a bit, and tends to always make the big mistake at the worst possible time. I would rather they draft a qb or try to re-sign Sanchez and let him compete with Smith for 2014. In 2015 they go all out for a franchise QB. Get all the skill player syou can in 2014 through the draft and free agency...setup with cap space and some experience to attack in 2015.
Cutler has four skill players that are better then anyone the Jets have - Forte, Marshall, Jeffrey and Bennett. Not a single WR or RB on the Jets would play for the Bears. Add in that he is playing for a HC who is known as a developer of QBs in Trestman. Let's face it. The Jets offensive personnel is horrible. Period. And the OL is underperforming. And if you don't think that is a factor in how bad Sanchez - a four year veteran looked last year- and how bad Smith - a rookie with a lot to learn about the NFL - looks lately, you just don't know football. Why did Brady look awful earlier this year? He had nobody to throw to at all. Why has Matt Ryan taken a huge step backwards the past 4-5 games - Jones is out, White is hurt, they have no running game and the OL is struggling. I could go on and on. You can't judge Smith until you surround him with NFL caliber players, not a team full of guys who would not make another NFL roster. Holmes has not been healthy in two years, Hill is not developing at all, Kerley has been hurt, Winslow missed 4 games and is just too physically limited at this point, Nelson was on his couch until the Jets called him, Gates started for half the season, Cumberland looks like a Baker clone, and who the hell is Salas? Ivory can't catch a cold and Powell is not a third down back in the true sense of the word. The Goodson injury really hurt the RB situation. Throw in the spotty pass protection and Ryan's conservative game plans where Smith doesn't get to throw unless it is 3rd and long or the Jets are down by 2 scores late and you have a recipe for disaster. It would have been much better if Sanchez did not get hurt and he was in there again this year playing like crap with this bunch of has beens and never will bes. Then you would not have the risk of Smith losing confidence as it appears he has. But the jury is still out on Smith until the Jets surround him with an NFL caliber offense.
Jay Cutler isn't the ideal fit here but let's be honest he still is a good solid NFL QB. Better then who we have had in recent history. He can make all the passes and he completes 60+% of his passes and always has a good TD to INT ratio, something we haven't had here in about 10 years.
Can this please happen this offseason? All I ask for is a vet qb that wont completely embarrass himself
