They'll take Jadaveon Clowney most likely if they get the 1 pick.

If Mariota comes out, I could see them entertaining offers from Jax and Houston for the first pick realizing that Clowney could realistically be there at 3.

I'd think they'd at least flip with the team picking 2nd. That way that team can secure their QB without worrying about a team trading up and the Falcons can still land Clowney. If Mariota declares, they may even be able to get down to 3.

Edit: JStokes beat me to it.

They've already got their QB. How often does a defensive prospect like Jadaveon Clowney show up on the horizon? Once a decade?

I think if the Falcons get the 1 and there are no red flags on Clowney they just take him. Bruce Smith. Lawrence Taylor. How often do you get a chance to land a guy who is talked about in that context for just a draft pick?

The Falcons have 22 sacks now in 11 games. Their leader is a 32 year old guy with 6.5. How often do the heavens provide exactly what you need exactly when you need it?

Can you imagine what happens to them if they trade down for the 3 and Clowney goes on the 1 or the 2 leaving them a QB on the 3?

It's really not all that risky if there are QB needy teams picking 2 and 3. Those teams generally aren't going to trade the pick or draft for another position, generational talent on the board or not (i.e. Russel over Megatron). Even if Mariota doesn't declare, swapping with the team holding the 2nd pick still makes sense. I'd be a bit surprised if a QB isn't the first pick.

Then they trade out of the 3 for ANOTHER kings ransom.

There is no reason to take Clowney at 1 if both Teddy and Mariota look like they are clearly the 2 best QBs and top 5 picks.

What did Washington give up for RGIII?

Can you imagine TWO of those hauls, going from 1 to 3 to say 5 or 7 or 9 and grabbing 6 or 7 1st and 2nd round picks?

Wow, I'd gamble not getting Clowney-- which they could easily get at 3--and getting a ton of 1st and 2nd rounders.

There's a good chance our Jets lose out and put themselves in the conversation. At 5-11 do they have any shot at Bridgewater or Clowney? Or did we already screw ourselves with too many wins?

The Jets aren't losing out at this point. They're 4-1 at home with 3 home games left, all of them against teams below .500.

It is truly amazing how bipolar Jets fans are. It's like the entire fan base erupts in spasms of joy when the Jets win a game and then goes right into the pooper when they lose a couple in a row on the road.

    ?

I don't understand. What about his game doesn't translate to the NFL? He's a pocket passer who has the ability to extend the play when it breaks down, has a strong arm and is very accurate on intermediate and deep routes. He may also throw the prettiest ball I've seen in a while. Toughness doesn't seem to be a problem if you've seen his backstory and watched the bowl game against Florida last year. Have you ever watched the kid play?

Not to mention his mechanics look leagues better than anybody else entering this year. Quick delivery and his footwork is nearly perfect.

He has a very quick delivery- looks almost effortless, the ball is out instantly. And super accurate.

I remember he got smashed in the Florida game last year in a helmet-to-helmet hit and was more concerned with seeing if he completed the pass. I think he's a tough guy, certainly tough enough not to crumble when he gets hit.

I agree, seen him play a lot this year and he has taken some massive shots and gotten off the mat. Of course the NFL is a whole different story.

Jacksonville with their third win today. 3-1 in last four. At 5-7 with the worst offense in the league, I'd say we're in the running.

lol @ Jacksonville playing their way out. Too funny. It would be some shit if the Texans end up grabbing Bridgewater. That would suck for the AFC
