I think we lose in Denver, yeah we beat them at home but it would have been much tougher to beat them on the road.
where did I write that? My rankings: 1. Namath(just b/c he's overrated doesn't mean he wasn't great for the franchise) 2. Sanchez 3. Chad- if he was durable could have been #1 4. Vinny- if he played here longer he easily could have been #2 or even #1 there is a big dropoff after 4. 5. O'Brien
Because you say no wrong about Sanchez, and you are sitting here bashing Joe Namath man. Tell me all of the flaws Mark Sanchez has in his game.
That is your perception but if you actually read my posts you will have seen I criticized him often- as long as he deserved it. The problem is to Jet fans unless you say Mark is the worst QB ever they think you are calling him great.
Answer my question junc, what are Mark Sanchez's flaws. Don't bullshit me and don't beat around the bush.
he has many flaws, I have discussed them over the years. he is a flawed QB but not as flawed as he looked last year, I think he fell into some bad habits a year ago. Strengths: good arm, accurate(don't give me comp %, that's not accuracy), can throw on the run, can buy time w/ his legs, good footwork, good mechanics throwing the ball weaknesses: doesn't know when to throw the ball away, tries to force balls, can lock onto receivers, makes bad decisions at times
The O'Brien AFC Player of the Year in 1985 is a very prestigious award. That was considered a big deal back then, look at the winners year to year, that was no minor thing. In Jet history, the second best QB behind Namath is O'Brien and it's not even close. I was a big Todd guy, but he had to two good seasons. He almost always threw the bad pick, guy never saw the safety. Testaverde was awesome for one season as was Pennington. Just look at these O'Brien highlights. These other guys didn't throw like him consistently. Ken's problem was that he got hit a million times and he was a crummy runner and he held the ball too long and his prime didn't last long enough. But at this best, he's #2 and it's not even a discussion. And this no playoff win BS, what the heck was he supposed to do. When they lost to NE in 1985, Tippett lived on his back that game, he got killed that game. In 1986, he was hurt in that Browns game. Then in 1991, he got them in the playoffs beating Miami that last game on a great pass to Moore, then they lost to Houston in the playoffs in a game they probably should have won if their running backs didn't let them down.
It wasn't a big deal back the and isn't now. we evaluate QBs differently, you want fantasy stats, I want wins. We are entitled to our opinions. If their RBs didn't let them down and if Kenny didn't throw 3 INTs in a close game. He had more talent to work w/ than Mark in a weaker era of AFC football and couldn't win a playoff game yet crappy Mark helps his team win 4 road playoff games. Amazing how that works.
They won the SB in 1985 and obviously he wasn't but he was vital to that team winning as great as their D was. They were obviously led by their D but w/o McMahon they don't win the SB. A big reason why they never won(or even made it back) again was b/c McMahon was always hurt.
at times yes but he has the ability to improve on those weaknesses. At no point did I ever call him great or say he would be but he was a good QB for us and one we could win big with. Those QBs are hard to find, even some of the so called much ones struggle w/ more talent around them in the playoffs.
You can't improve on being dumb junc, you either have the mental aspect of the game or you don't. 5 years in, he didn't really improve much mentally. The preparation is there no doubt Monday through Saturday. Unfortunately that's where it ends.
he looked a lot dumber last year w receivers that couldn't get any separation, isn't it amazing how much smarter he looked in 2010 when he had more help?
2010, Pre-Broncos 2011 Sanchez no longer plays for the Jets junc. The guy you see now resembles David Carr.
Penalty, personal foul fifteen yards for unnecessary bullshit and giving him the business. This isn't the NBA where one man can take over a game without any help. Football is a team sport where even the best players spend half the game on the bench. Even when looking at whether a player is clutch with the game on the line he needs the ball to be evaluated. Was O'Brien supposed to block the field goal kicked with seven seconds left? When the Browns got the ball first in overtime was anything that happened after that under O'Brien's control. Did O'Brien get a personal foul for hitting Bernie Kosar when we had the game in the bag? Would Sanchez be in the playoffs if Mangold, Brick, and Harris, Jones, and Revis all got injured? A player, especially in a team sport should not just be judged by his win loss record but being recognized by others as one of the best. MVPs, All Pro, Pro Bowl, etc. these awards are not just given to anyone. In 1985-1987 Ken O'Brien was considered one of the greatest quarterbacks in the NFL by many people. While Pennington put a few nice games together in a row before teams figured out that pressure gets to him I don't remember anyone saying that he was the best. Sanchez? Foergettaboutit.
he was supposed to lead us to a 1st down to end the game or lead us to a FG in one of the 50 possessions in the OTs to win the game. The D had already picked off Kosar setting up the 10 pt lead and had picked off Kosar in the EZ to prevent another score. Sanchez made the playoffs in a year where Cotch, Holmes, Woody, Leonhard, Pace, Jenkins, Revis all missed games- oh and we made the AFC Championship Game. he had more talent in a weaker era for AFC football yet he has zero playoff wins. another QB took HIS team to the lone playoff win of his career.
I will say this about O'Brien. He was as good a thrower as they ever had for like two years and then it didn't last long enough. His game did go down a lot quicker then it should have.
