he is missing kerley now - holmes, hill, winslow, cumberland, salas, ivory, powell are there. He is in a serious funk. Even when he rolled out yesterday and hit holmes it was an awful throw. They showed one replay on his INT where the defender just ran away from Hill and Smith didn't even glance that way ...just tossed up an easy pick. How many passes were batted down by the db? That is all caused by a QB that locks on from the snap. Make it very easy for a defense to play.

If Smith could hit a slant, a curl, a timing pattern it would open up a world of options, but the only pass he seems good at is the wide open 15 yard crossing route.

I totally get that Geno is playing crappy right now. I'm not defending him in the context that he's doing enough to get the job done but is getting let down by his team mates. I'm just pointing out that he's been playing with very little talent for the last 6 weeks and his play has gone to the dogs over that span.

Don't take this the wrong way, because I'm not comparing Geno to Peyton Manning but Manning has said that the reason he threw 28 picks his rookie year, which is still the rookie record, is that he spent most of the year looking for Marvin Harrison because if Harrison wasn't open he knew he wasn't going to have time to get to his second option.

Geno doesn't even have Marvin Harrison to look at. He has looked long and hard at his best receiving option each game and his results have depended a lot on who that was. When Holmes was sort of healthy early in the season Geno looked at him. He's looked at Kerley when Kerley was healthy. When Holmes and Kerley were both hobbled at various points he looked at Winslow. When Winslow was suspended it was back to Kerley.

It's just been an ugly clusterfuck for a rookie who hasn't had ANYBODY on the field for him all season long.

Mark Sanchez rookie season went to hell in a handbasket when Jerrico Cotchery got hurt. And Sanchez had Keller and then Edwards to help pick up the slack some and then he got Cotchery back.

Looking at the Jets and Geno's season reminds me of the line about the killer rabbit from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. "Just look at the bones, man! Look at the bones!"

Unfortunately the Jets don't have the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch handy to remedy the situation.

I would be OK with the turnovers if he was doing anything else right. If he was putting up 250 yards a game, showing signs of a QB starting to get it, play action fakes, hitting timing patters, showing a grasp of the offense.

Manning came in to the worst team in football when being the worst team really meant you sucked and he tossed nearly 30 TD passes -- he locked on to Marvin a lot, but at least he got it. Things clicked for him. I don't see anything clicking for Geno. I don't think people out be complaining if they say 15 TD and 20 INTS. They could say well that will get better with skill players, but even with better skill players I don't see Geno developing into much.

Marvin Harrison. Marshall Faulk. There was a lot of offensive talent on that Colts team to work with. Hall of Fame talent and Faulk got there without having Manning in the backfield with him. You could argue that Faulk got himself and Kurt Warner there.

Good! They aren't a playoff caliber team, lets move up the draft board instead of trying to live a dream of making the playoffs. They have plenty of picks and cap room next year, they need to get slotted to take advantage of those picks.

What will our seed be going into week 17 at the Miramar dump after wins over the Fish, Raiders and Browns in the final 3 games at Jet Life?

Most likely result is 7-8 after taking 2 out of 3 from Fins, Raiders and Browns at home and losing to Panthers on the road.

That would likely be about the 10 seed. Maybe 9 depending on if the loser of Steelers/Ravens goes into a nosedive afterwards.

Just win the home games and we will enter week 17 with a great shot.

Thats really what its come down to for me. We wont win in Carolina (although we are 3-0 against the NFC South) but our home games are all winnable and we have certainly played better at home. Dolphins-Raiders-Browns. Thats what has to be done.

We were a playoff team overall but we are held back by geno's progression. The domino's start to fall with the QB. I don't blame the O line.

Waltzing into the playoffs, the Jets with Greg Salas at SE and a gimpy Santonio Holmes at FL. The TE is Jeff Cumberland, maybe.

Seriously, there hasn't been enough talent on offense all year long and now the injuries are piling up. It's not like anybody looked at the Jets in pre-season and said "oh boy, can't wait to see those receivers in action."

    Clyde Gates?

I know Jets fans still would love to get into the playoffs however slim their chances but considering that most considered the Jets would be fighting for the #1 draft pick instead, they can't be completely disappointed. I don't think they are making it to the post-season this year but with some smart drafting who knows about the next few years.

Besides, Brady isn't going to play forever!

    (I couldn't resist)

At this point, the Jets have to run the table to have a remote chance at the playoffs. Since that isn't going to happen, I'm just going to enjoy the rest of the ride and hope that they can splatter some fish brains along the way.

Everything starts with Miami game at home. One week at a time. No reason to look further ahead. Win against Miami and see what happens. By the way Jets' season on the line against Miami. If we lose, we are done no matter what the record says.

I agree the main concern in front of Jet fans right now should be to kill some fish. I don't see the playoffs as a reasonable possibility. Probably either the Ravens or Pitt will get the sixth spot.

Seriously, why does everyone keep talking like we have so much talent on offense? We don't, and not only that, the only receiver Smith practiced with in the off season is hurt.

The good news is our D-line will be playing those home games against three of the four worst teams in the entire league at protecting the QB. The bad news is, we're the fourth.

On numbers never lie the numbers said the Jets would land the final wild card spot due to the easyest of remaining schedules of teams in hunt.Miami and Raiders at home two crucial games that we must win
