GangGreen turns it's lonely eyes to you....

Seriously, the most recent Jets quarterbacks are making that guy look a lot better than he was credited for in the 1980's.

Ken O'Brien was a pretty good QB. The problem was everyone wants to compare him to Marino.

I was a HUGE Ken O'Brien fan in the 80s, one of my favorite players as a kid but the reality is w/ more talent and a weaker conference he never won a single playoff game. Some day jet fans will look back fondly on mark as well, time changes everything. I was at games in the early 90s when ken was despise as much, if not more than, Mark.

Ken O Brien was and is one of my favorite Jets of all time, and second to Namath as QB. Years a go I saw him as an assisstant coach for a HS here in LA and he was throwing in practice some of the most beautiful spirals ever.

He could have kicked major ass if he had this team

ken Obrien was allot better than people gave him credit for. he was in the best qb draft class of all time. Got killed because he was the picked before Marino.

as always you can see inept the jets always were at decision making. I think he handled and handles the situation well. On the 30/30 special Elway to Marino.
I thought ken obrien was great when he explained he didn't expect to get picked there and found out from his cousin or friend who called him furious to let him know the Jets had past on marino and taken him.

He was great but shit footwork and a poor O-Line didn't help him. I dread to think how bad he'd look in the current team - we'd be facing constant 3rd and 25's with all the sacks.

How soon we forget....and his arm was never the same later on in the early 90s....zero mobility...despised so much at the end by Coslet that Boomer Esiason was introduced with the #7 jersey before Kenny was officially released....those classy Jets....

At least pennington knew how to ball fake and get the fuck out of the "pocket"

sure, he didn't have the arm; especially after 2nd rotator cuff surgery

...but he knew how to get defenders to move and open the field up a little for a passing game.

That video always makes me want to cry. And not just because of the horrible music.

Great video.. yes the music0 does suck.. the only thing ill say is you can tell how much defense has evolved... most of this is straight man coverage and the athleticism from the 1980s to know is crazy.. I wonder how all these guys would do in the modern game. The speed isn't even close. When do you ever see a guy anymore open by 20 yards on a fly route. Lol no time anymore to throw 80 yard bombs anymore.. don't get me wrong, still nic0e to see a jet qb throwin into coverage with nice passes. Kenny o. Better than he ever got credit for

That 51-45 OT game in '86 was incredible. Watching him
and Marino battle back and forth.

All those Super Bowls Miami won with Marino could've been ours

I became a fan because of Kenny O, Toon, Walker, McNeal and company. That said; how many playoff games did Kenny O win. As as bad and inconsistent Sanchez and Vinny have been in their respective careers, I hold them both which much higher regards than Kenny O. Fair or on fair, they brought me closer to that chip. I will take the incompetency and inconsistency and playoff wins over competency and playoff losses.

jets were a different team.. I'm not sure if your old enough to remember or not. They lost allot cause of putrid coaching and stupid plays. Kenny o wasn't the problem. O line was awful. He was sacked every other play. Lol least felt like it..

Sanchez has won playoff games and that's impressive.

Testerverde had the most dominant single season I have ever seen a jet qb have.

Obrien was on a whole better than both.

I liked O'Brien, but I also think there are good reasons that he isn't thought of as highly as he might have been. It isn't only Marino - there were three QBs in his class who were clearly much better than he was. And that doesn't even count the many other QBs whose careers overlapped with his who were much better than he was - Montana, Fouts, Moon, Aikman. And then there are QBs who I would say were just as good - Dave Krieg, Boomer, Kosar.

He was sacked that much b/c he held onto the ball looking for the big play too often, his OLs for the most part were good.

Vinny's '98 was by far the best in franchise history and ranking the 3 QBs would go like this:

    Vinny
    Mark
    O'Brien

Please don't ever compare Ken O'Brien with Mark Sanchez. Mark is in the Bubby Brister, Glenn Foley, Neil O'Donnell conversation.

It's so embarrassing to be a Jet fan, the fact that you would compare Mark to brister is beyond ludicrous and it's why we don't deserve a winner. Unfortunately I am stuck being associated w/ "fans" like this.
