Rex Ryan's loyalty to his favorite players has reached an all-time stupidity. The jets are going nowhere this year--The Titans, Steelers, Ravens and Bengals have already beaten them and hold the tie breakers. Since the jets are NOT going to the playoffs why are we benching our promising young safeties to watch 35 year old Ed Reed get burned? Because Rex loves him and can't see what the Texans saw 3 weeks ago when they cut Reed and ate his contract.Yes, Rex really knows HOW to rebuild (playing a 35 year old safety). Let me guess--Rex will lobby for ANOTHER DL in round 1 of the draft next year, right? We have only drafted a DL in round 1 in JUST the last 3 drafts--why not make it 4? After all, Rex, why do we need offense since we now have Ed Reed? The jets need a rebuild BADLY, and not with the coach who has reduced them to this level.
seems to me this thread is a week early, we just lost to the ravens and we have no idea what rex will do next week
cimini tweeted "rex non committal to qb for next week" and the whole offense is devoid of talent. simms is the answer to that?
people keep hating on on rex because of the 3 years in a row Dline picks. those Dline picks have been fantastic so you can't be angry at that, you should be mad at everything else.
Simms is the answer to making a change for the sake of trying something different that may or may not work. What we're doing now ain't working. No harm is trying something different because.... Doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result is the definition of....? The reality is, Rex isn't gonna start Simms because like the announcers said today, Rex doesn't want to deal with a Qb controversy and will avoid it at all costs even if it means the season goes as Geno goes.
I dont know if there is another rebuild, but the offense needs a rebuild...Do we sign Jay Cutler? Our defense is legit up front, but we lack talent man and we have a cap
You still have to outscore the other team and that takes talent. Your defense still has to rest when they get off the field too. You can't have your defense playing 30+ mins a game and expect them to hold up. Rex should know that and made more of an effort to balance the team instead of trying to emulate the Ravens at every turn. Yeah, I'm talking Bart Scott, Jim Leonard and now, Ed Reed.
"Simms" is also the answer to what quarterback's name starts and ends with "S" but does nothing to answer the important question. Change for the sake of change accomplishes nothing and delays real solutions. The season and Geno have already gone for this year, there's nothing left to avoid.
Change sends a message to Geno that his play has been unsatisfactory and he will be held accountable. Moreso than Sanchez ever was. Want to flush the season? Stick with Geno as he's not gonna get any better between now and week 17. Want to destroy what's left of Geno's ego, keep trotting him out there to get his ass kicked week in and week out and you'll turn him into Joey Harrington before you can say, Mark Sanchez. As long as the kid feels entitiled to his job, he'll not feel any pressure to improve. He can say all the right things about working harder etc, but when you lose your job, shit hits home a lot harder and it gets your attention PDQ.
I am certainly not ready to bail on Geno. He may need a breather, but I have seen some promising things too. He was left to the dogs today,he had no protection
to be fair its not like our D wasn't getting burned on deep routes before Reed came along and clearly something needed to be done - not saying Reed is the answer to that but what would you have done to address the problem?
Coples has been fantastic? That's news to me, the fact he was drafted as a pass rushing specialist, got replaced in his 2nd year, an moved to OLB, an has totaled 1.5 sacks?
all speculation. what we know right now is he left geno swinging in the wind. which is more than he ever did with mark. geno probably starts next week. but to speculate that rex would rather lose with geno than have to deal with a qb controversy even if simms is better sounds alot like what the tebots were saying last year about mark and st timmy.
coples was replaced because they felt he could transition to lb and than the barnes injury made it a necessity. 5.5 sacks as a rookie last season. has made some plays in the backfield this year since coming back from the ankle. coples has been a good pick
