Unlike Geno, Manning would not let his OC tell him what to run. Peyton would never let the wildcat happen on his watch. I'd love if Geno told Marty and Rex to not try the wildcat crap but I don't know if he has it in him to do it and even then he hasn't done anything in the league to have the ability to say so. Sadly, Peyton Manning's dont grow on trees. And Geno would have had to earn years of quality play to command such respect to call his own shots.
Geno won't make it to year 3, hell might not make it to year two - he's just as bad as Jimmy Clausen. I want nothing to do with any of those QBs cept for Derek Carr. And regardless if Watkins or a TE is available, you still take them and build a foundation so when a QB does come along, you got everything in place. So you don't draft a project quarterback. You build that foundation. Look at how shitty the interior offensive line is. We should of drafted Chance Warmack at 9 and solidified that left side of the line so you can at least give the QB a chance. Draft WRs / TEs then get the QB. But according to most, you don't draft a G that high, that's a load of shit because you have more interior defenders emerging in the NFL that can get to the QB. Pressure inside is the absolute worst and makes even Tom Brady look like a little bitch
And Brian Winters / Vlad are? I'll take my chances on Warmack. Millner isn't exactly killing it either, he did play decent today though. This offensive line is just as bad as 2011 - Mangold and Brick are playing like shit because of it, they need help!
That is just so wrong. If there's a QB available that you think can be a franchise QB, and you have a hole there, you take him no matter what. They do not grow on trees, and you never know when you will be in the same position to pick a QB you believe in. Skill positions have succeeded in later rounds than the 1st and 2nd, meanwhile at QB it rarely ever happens. This team can still surround a QB with talent even if they spend a 1st round pick on one this year. We have a ton of cap room and a lot of draft picks. It can certainly happen, but only if the team is committed to rebuilding this offense over everything else.
Look up the success rate of 2nd round QBs. Chad Henne, Jimmy Clausen, Chad Henne. It's a horrible percentage. I don't think the Jets did a good job scouting Geno Smith. I said before the draft (as well as many others), the man cannot play in cold weather - he severely under-throws potential TD passes, he does it all of the time. I don't know what they saw in this kid. He had this coaching staff fooled just like Christian Ponder and the Vikings. Geno was a panic pick plain and simple. Winters, Vlad, Colon ain't doing JACK SHIT. Warmack can hold his own at least - I like what I saw when Warmack and the Titans played the Colts the other week. He has the potential to be a good interior guard for the next decade.
Geno is a moron. The guy isn't an NFL QB and he's not good. You people threw the "staring down receiver" thing out of the window.. Well, hey, guess what!? The INT and a few of the batted balls are from that dummy just staring at his receivers and not having the IQ to fake it or check down. He also can't read the blitz or D. It's evident and it was in full effect today. He's just not good, guys.
Geno has three of the five worst QB ratings of the season. Even Sanchez never had a five-game stretch of one TD and ten INT's and that's saying something.
You have to learn from past mistakes. Learn from what happened with Sanchez. I'm not saying Geno cant be the guy,but he needs to sit right now. You can't have blind faith in a QB and give me all this crap about how it takes 2-3 years to grow at the position. Geno has looked terrible since the New England game, he's regressing. If he was mixing in some good games like he was earlier in the season i'd be ok with him still being the QB. But we arent even seeing that anymore. It's all been downhill. The Jets are trying to hide him out there. You can't hide your QB and expect to be successful, they did that with Sanchez too, it eventually caught up with them. I'd bench him and look to draft a QB next year. Worse comes to worse you have a QB competition in TC next year. There is nothing wrong with that. People hate QB competitions but you should only not have competition at a position when it's obvious you have your guy. It's not obvious with Geno. Not yet, not even close.
You do realize that Alex Smith and Mark Sanchez are pretty much the same player when you look at their first 4 years in the NFL. Sanchez actually has better overall numbers. Alex Smith CMP% 54.55% YDS/GP 220 AVG YDS/PASS 5.725 TD/GP 1.15625 INT/GP 1.34375 FUM/GP 1.04348 RAT 63.575 Mark Sanchez CMP% 54.9% YDS/GP 257 AVG YDS/PASS 5.725 TD/GP 1.44681 INT/GP 1.46809 FUM/GP 0.81250 RAT 71.7 He didn't start turning his career around until his 5th year when he finally got a competent OC. He also took a pay cut to remain with the team that year. The 49ers were going to cut him after coming off IR from a major shoulder injury. Doesn't all that sound familiar?
Given the history of this franchise, you couldn't have liked any Qb since Chad Pennington or going back further, Ken O'Brien. Fact is, this franchise has had shit luck with Qb's ever since Namath. Today's Qb's are pretty much in the mold of Jet Qb's that have several good seasons followed by either hard luck or really bad play. Its how this team has rolled for decades. Perhaps its part of their big plan
Damn the bar is that low now? Sanchez went from Brees to Alex Smith? Just because Smith turned his career it doesn't mean Sanchez will.
Yes, he is. I live in Chicago. If you go by the media and fans, it's not a done deal. Personally, I think it is a done deal. Quality QBs are hard to come by; I don't see how you let Cutler walk.
