Nobody said that at all, it was widely regarded as one of the weakest QB drafts in recent memory.

Told by who? Seriously...who "told" you that?

This was regarded was one of the worst qb drafts in a while...and Geno still went in the second round.

Next year its loaded. So play every qb you have on your roster this year just to say you turned over every rock and looked under every leaf..period.

Rex's job is on the line...And Geno has 0TDs and 7 INT's in 4 games.

I think he will make a switch

No one ever said that 2013 QB draft was anything but tempered at best.....2014 has a legit 6 players in first RD alone....

The thing with QBs in the draft is that so many teams feel they have the QB of the future on their roster so it doesn't always make QB THE pick all the time. Pass rushers, olineman are always wanted but once a team takes a QB, more often then not that said team gives the QB some time and don't go fishing the following draft for another QB.

He went far too long with Sanchez. No reason to think he won't do the same with Geno.

Fits the MO doesn't it? Unless Geno gets caught smoking weed on I-78 with a fully loaded Bushmaster in the front seat and a trunk full of meth, he's gonna start. His quality of play doesn't matter.

I hope Rex starts him the rest of the season...

11 TDs to 22 turnovers in 11 games tells me I need to be drafting another QB.

Are we going to be drafting a QB every time until we hit on one right away?

That's a mindset that does nothing for the depth of the team.

You know what is really sad? We haven't had a franchise QB since the 60's. O'Brien might have been the closest thing to one and we passed Marino over for him. How does that happen?

I think Smith was a luxury pick and was a mistake. They could have rode Sanchez out for the season and waited for the stacked 2014 qb class. They could have locked the best WR or TE available. Drafting another qb has to happen unless they want to ride out Sanchez or another get in 2014 and go all skill position in the draft and free agency

Yes we are, I don't care how good of a coach you are you need a good QB to be successful, you can't be handcuffed by scrub QBs that can't even throw a simple crossing route without dirting the ball or a curl route without throwing it 7 yards over the receivers head.

Look at the Skins....traded up so many picks for RG3 and even if RG3 flashes some awesome plays, the depth of the team has taken its toll with all the picks lost in the process of acquiring that franchise QB.

I'm for building the foundation this draft and let Geno sink or swim year 2. Nothing good happens, then ties get cut and Geno year 3 is on common ground with whoever and may be a backup moving forward.

At least they have a QB for the next decade, now they can build up the rest of the team. By the way the Redskins are terrible because of the CS, that's been pretty widely recognized. They have talent all over the place so what are you talking about.

Their defense has no talent minus 2 or 3 players, their OLine is one of the worst in the league and they can't sustain any injuries with the lack of depth on the team.

Shanahans and Haslett stink but the team doesn't have the talent in the trenches and thus their high powered offense can't get started. Can't do it when your in cap hell and don't have draft picks. That's not building a recipe for success.

this exactly what everybody wants, and when another prospect comes in and isn't infallible they'll want the next guy.

we feel like instant success at QB is the norm rather than the exception. we want results NOW because we've been burned by waiting for the last guy and perceive a few others as examples of that new standard.

really, if we wind up with a mid teens pick as is likely (8-8 beaten on tiebreakers, we have a shot but thats what I'm seeing) we should be taking a potential franchise WR while continuing to build the O-line. We can afford to see what smith does with improvements around him and a year under his belt. and maybe leave it at that.

Or we can pretend theres an easy fix in the next draft or with simms and that NEITHER will have problems that'd have to be addressed as well. that works too redundant as it most likely is...

Great post and could not have said it better.

I think Idzik has us on the right path honestly. This year was going to be a transition period, it is just the quick start got the hopes up despite the talent on this team being average at best. We have cap room flexibility, and some key pieces on defense. We just need to retool the offense and give whoever the QB is some actual pieces to work with.

I just don't think Idzik gives up on Geno after 1 year.

This team is suffering from the SAME problems it had last year, and we have a different QB. So obviously it goes beyond the QB. I dont understand why people are not getting this.
