Ed Reed is only here for the rest of this year and MAYBE next. Safety is still a concern. But, I agree with everyone else here...it is all about the QB! No QB and we can field a Monsters of the Midway and we aren't winning anything. Kind of the reason people (myself included) are clamoring to see what Simms has...we have to know...then again, doesn't really matter I think the Jets HAVE to go QB/WR 1 and 1a in the draft next year. They need to do whatever it takes to get the best QB they can and the best possible WR they can. Period. After that it's BPA the rest of the way. I'm sorry but I simply do not feel that Geno is the answer. I do, on the other hand, feel he will be a fantastic career backup. Time will tell...

It's been said already, but the Jets desperately need offensive playmakers.

As for drafting another QB, even if Geno finishes up strong I don't see any harm in it. The Jets need to find an above average QB if they want to go anywhere.

The Jets need some talent to make the passing game work.

    Fun stats:

Since 1940, 25 percent of NFL champions have led the league in passer rating, and 96 percent have been in the Top 10.

they'd be good for the jump ball but their statistics would crash back down to earth. You'd be getting Tony Gonzalez occasional big game type numbers, no more 2 td's and 100 yards per game on the regular.

That's true of any dynamic playmaking pass catchers if you don't have a QB.

However, if I had a choice in fantasy land as to whether I'd want a stud WR or a stud TE, at this point I'm going stud TE. Certainly if such stud WR was in the mold of a 5-10 to 6-1 but super fast type guy. I really want that big athletic TE.

Kelce to KC. but at that spot I would've taken Warford.

Definitely agree with you about Sheldon 9 and Eifert 13. wow I agree with Hobbes, are pigs flying today? or we coulda taken Vaccaro. but Eifert is the next Gronk.

if we're gonna play this game, how about this:

    warmack 9
    Sheldon 13
    Kiki, LeVeon, or Tyrann 2nd
    Jordan Reed 3rd
Nassib 4th (no ivory trade since taking an rb)

    boom hindsight! (but not really)

are we talking about the same eifert that hasn't done shit this year?

it is worrying that geno has regressed instead or progressing, but this kid really does have the work ethic and arm to be a good QB in this league. also for the people who want to start simms, that puts us in limbo. it's better to see if geno actually stinks or not so we can move on to the future with closure. matt simms just complicates this

It goes back to what I said earlier, Milliner, and to a lesser extent Smith, were PR picks, which is worse than need.

Smith was great value at 39, if you were willing to groom him, not for e a square peg into a round hole.

Those two picks, make me think...ticket sales. Replace Revis, and remove Sanchez media liability

we see already, Geno actually stinks. yes Eifert but he can't do shit if they are not gameplanning around him yet, not his fault Dalton only has eyes for AJ (and Marvin Jones whenever playing the Jets)

Hasn't done shit? He's averaging 3 catches a game,at 12+ ypc, on a team that's built around AJ Green, and the running game.

So, extrapolated, he's going to grab 50 balls in his rookie season, where he's at least 3rd on the list.

Lol, pigs are flying see above.

But Geno doesn't stink, he just isn't ready for this level of play.

Of Idzik didn't force the issue, and instead treated Smith like a someday starter, sanchez wouldn't be injured, Smith would already be twice the QB he already is, by virtue of learning. And we'd be leading the division.

Idzik, has fucked up enough already, for the Jets to have a new GM next year.

3 signings gone for criminal problems, though Goodson came back, then got hurt.
The 9 overall pick on a guy with 5 surgeries, moving up to bigger faster nastier competition...
The grotesque handling of the QB situation, costing you in essence the best chance at besting the Pats for a Division title in a decade.

Stephen fucking Peterson? Couldn't play guard, move him to backup center, then place the 60million dollar man behind him late in a preseason game? ( note, peterson had never played center prior to that week...not ever.)

I would say the bright spot for him, has been Chris Ivory.

I don't think you can blame idzik yet. he didn't have time to put his own scouting dept. in place, essentially this draft was still the old era guys.

he'll have a Gronk like breakout all of a sudden and then you'll be all over his nuts along with the rest of the mainstream. might happen this year or probably next year.

If Geno pans out then everything else will fall into place.

Dude, I've seen or listened to just about every SU game since 1977 and while I love what Nassib did for us last year, and he showed steady progress all 4 years, he's really not a very good QB. I'd root for him like hell because he's a fellow alum, but I really don't think he's going to be much of anything at this level. Again, I love the guy, but he's nothing more than a career backup.

8 guys coming out this year that are better.

As of now, we are not close. We have a slightly below average roster talent wise,
with a caveat, we are young, and do have room for improvement. But until
we get better quarterback play consistently, we wont be a legitimate Super Bowl threat.

Exactly. Jimmy Graham is on a different stratosphere than Cook or Rob Housler. Gronk is also.

I'm sorry for being obnoxious. This is a football message board, isn't talking about who we should draft one of the main reasons for coming here?

That's fair, I just threw a name out there to say we could've taken a qb later. Geno is a career backup as well. Looking forward to this next draft more than any other.

you're right, because two of those guys have had Brady / Brees throwing them the ball and two of them have had Bradford / Clemens / Skelton / Palmer.

current draft is fine, i hate when people talk about who we should of drafted recently, especially when its been a little over half a season
