My fellow seniors.(Senior than me is what I mean. Don't think I am taking a shot against you ). You made me crack at work. I am glad both of you are on this board. Two very very good people
Favorite holiday and all my kids will be back from school, work, etc. by Tuesday. Looks like we've got 14 people in total, that means I'll need about 6 Sauvignon Blancs, a mixed case of Zinfandel, Malbec and Pinot Noir, a bottle of Bulleit Bourbon, Titos and my 14 year Carribean cask Balvenie. _
I'm gonna steal away a bit early from work. With that cold front inbound for Sunday and Saturday's temps headed southbound, I'm gonna start my smoker tonite soon as I get home. Brisket goes in first along with a healthy amount of Oak and Cherry wood for a good solid smoke. Got to put some hocks on as well in case my local store breaks out the collards tomorrow. Got some Makers Mark 46 on standby too along with a lil bit of Tanqueray and some Stoli. Let the good times roll!
Dang, with all the cooking I do I've never ventured into the smoking field. I am extremely envious, sounds great. _
3rd option. Bro-in-laws birthday brunch. He is a die hard Giants fans and his kids are trained to hate the Jets. So it wont be on. Going for the food, about it. May leave before 4pm? Might not.
I'm always looking forward to a Jets game. But this game scares the hell out me. Baltimore is playing in their building and for their playoffs lives. I have a feeling the Jets are going to get killed. But this team has surprised us all season long so who knows.
If you ever get into it, you'll find it's a hard habit to break. You'll find yourself smoking everything. Roasts, Chickens, Bacon, you name it. I cure and smoke my own bacon now. Paying $3.85/lb for raw bacon (aka: Pork Bellies) isn't bad at all and I know exactly what's in it because I put it there. Wifey started this with an electric smoker last year for my Bday/Xmas present. Been on a mission ever since.
Relax Kev. We're playing with house money here. Been that way since Win 3. Whatever we get on Sunday, we get. Its all upside for the most part as we weren't even supposed to be in the playoff conversation. If you got something else to do. Say, prep for Tday dinner, I would put the game on, and go ahead with the other things that make your life what it is. The Jets, win or lose, will be back the following Sunday. Enjoy the game, but also keep it in perspective.
Got a 4G tablet? take it with you and d/l the NFL app. You can turn the volume up assuming the Jets aren't getting smoked and piss your in-laws off no end.
Don't succumb to Giants fans! Be proud and turn that game on and show them that the Jets are far greater than the Giants this year.
Agreed, for some reason Tennesee and Cinci were easier to handle. This past week took the life out of me. Not saying we can't win though.
Losing to a crappy Bills team, in a meaningful game, with the division title still in reach, and a wild card destiny in our own hands, as well as 2 weeks to prepare........it was truly a SOJ game. I hate those fucking games. We never seem to get past those.....even in good years.
I think that the emotionally healthy Jet Fan is indeed, the SOJF. We don't allow ourselves to get overly down or overly up. We keep things in perspective and have seen just about everything Jets related. We get excited when big games, rare as they may be, happen and we get pissed off at buttfumbles, behind the back buttfumbles, asskickins, needless stupid TO's, lousy clock management and so on down the line. Yep, being a SOJF has its advantages. The biggest of which is we are rarely disappointed with happens with the NY Jets because chances are, we saw it coming.
