again you conveniently did not answer the question I asked you. You are blinded by hate and that is fine. I agree that the last 5 games have been rough and I hate them as well. But no QB including SIMMS or MANNING could do well when they are on their backs; receivers are so unfamiliar that they run the wrong routes; that rookie LG and FBs contribute to offensive problems; that opposing defenses now have a book on geno and would have the same book on SIMMS. despite what you and that other know it all have to say, its a TEAM game and the team is not that good. REX et al have done a great job coaching an under-talented team to 5 and 5. Since you conveniently refused to answer my question: Geno threw for 351 yards against Buffalo and made Manuel look sick! We won that game easily. case closed......
what an awful conclusion that is completely incorrect. mark's INTs came in bunches, he wasn't bad the majority of games like Smith has been. mark had slightly more talent but not as much as people think considering he had Stuckey starting for 4 games and had to work Braylon in for Game 5. Mark was bad in 3 games or so to that point, Geno has been bad the majority of his games. mark's O's scored 4 more PPG, mark had less games w/ INTs, less games w/ multiple INTs. People also don't realize how overrated our run game was, it was good but far from great. 2 games against a terrible Bills team and that raider game skew the #s badly and we had a bunch of "great" garbage time performances. I am not throwing Geno out, I am frustrated(as I was w/ Mark in 2009) but Mark was MUCH better in 20009 than Geno has been this year. mark's 4 pick game on the road came at NE not at Buffalo, yes he had 5 vs. Buffalo in his first cold weather game(it was October freezing that day) and he had an awful day against the eventual world champs. Those games skew the #s, 12 of his 16 INts came in those 3 games meaning the other 7 games he threw a total of 4 INTs. Geno has been consistently bad outside of a game or 2. Winslow, Cumberland and Holmes were back last week and he had one of his worst games. I agree the injuries play a role but we were as healthy last week on O as we have been in years. My mistake, he didn't compete at HOME in a playoff game in 2010. mark was way down the list of problems on our offenses. He was VITAL to our success. it's not just the playcalls but the mindset. when a backup QB comes into a game late, heck even when a starter is in and the game is over, players relax and according to that chart(if it is accurate) he complete 2 passes against a blitz w? one being a quick hitter against a delayed blitz.
Sanchez is no Vick talent-wise for openers! Vick prior to Philly had weak teams to play for. Sanchez was drafted by a team with excellent talent and did not win a SB or ever exceed a 60 CMP%. In fact has he ever? ( NO) Its not safe to say anything about a QB until he plays the game well and consistenly wins games at any level. Try as hard as you can but Sanchez MUST prove himself on any team he goes to as a #2 QB next year and that includes if he stays with us. You use stats to build a case while we have seen visual proof that Sanchez has serious deficiencies as an NFL QB for four years.. You usethis pre-season to try to con us with phony stats. We all saw Mark throw a pick in the first series of the first pre-season game. Why do you conveniently discount that? That is why the saying is: Statistics do not lie, but liars use statistics. We are all Jets fans and want nothing more then to win. Are you a Jets fan or just a Sanchez fan? If Mark leaves us for a new team in the NFL or the CFL, will you follow him and try to bs that teams fan boards too?
Because 6-12 in his last 18 starts, with Greg McElroy bailing his ass out with a single TD late in a 7-6 game he was throwing away was so inspiring, right? Junc, Mark Sanchez hasn't been any good since mid-season 2011. He was average to poor before that. Get it through your head because it makes you look like an idiot every time you post one of your Sanchez comments. Reality is what it is.
In four years what did we win? The first two years he had all the talent in the world to win it all. Did he do it? Has he EVER been able to carry the team on his back when they were devoid of talent? The deck was stacked against him for sure just like it is for Geno and Mark became a laughable QB ranked #32 in the NFL. Is that what you call a winner? I don't. Re: Geno he simply has to do better or get out of the way. The idea is to win a SUPER BOWL and at the moment I have NO faith that Sanchez can win one with us and I seriously doubt Geno could either. The difference being MARK had 4 years to do his thing and what did he do? Geno has had 10 games with a seriously challenged talent-deficient team and some here want him gone yet make excuses for Mark. Sorry excuses do not win Super Bowls. Nor does hero worship! Its a cold, calculating business and decisions can not be made emotionally! The idea is to win NOW! Thus in response to your assertion: I do want to win and I really don't care who our QB is that gets us to the SB. I have no emotional interest in any Jets QB other then wanting the team to win a Super Bowl. However along those lines I believe GENO has superior talent then Sanchez does. Will it develop? I have no idea but neither do you. Unlike you I did want Mark gone because I felt he needs to get away from NYC and the Jets if he is to survive in the NFL. I also think that Geno must be on a short leash if he starts to stink out the stadium on Sunday. The object as stated is to win NOW! If he can not get the job done, give SIMMS a shot though I have called for Garrard to be elevated to #2. We have a shot at the playoffs and lets take it!
AGREED to most of it! I refuse to call junc any names for his beliefs and admire that he will stand up for who he believes in. I just think he does it out of emotion and that is wrong. But I know he is a Jets fan and will back whoever the Jets QB is. Junc wants to win too and is as impatient as we all are.
the only that look like idiots are the ones that don't see the entire picture, the ones that blame the QB for the mess we had last year. Look at the "great" Eli manning w/ more talent than mark has ever had and playing worse than mark ever has yet mark was supposed to lead Chaz Schilens and company to the playoffs(by the way, we were in the playoff race into December). I don't expect a guy that thinks Bill parcells was a great GM to ever understand. More than we ever have since 1969. playoff wins: 4 next highest total for QB in NYJ history: 2 title game apps: 2 only QB w/ more than 1 in NYJ history road playoff wins: 4 total road playoff wins in team history w/ other QBs: 3 we didn't win a SB which was more about the D choking than anything mark didn't do but he HELPED us have the best 2 year stretch in team history- the ONLY time we have ever won playoff games in back to back seasons. I couldn't be less emotionally involved, this is based on logic. Every fan wants the next flavor of the month, they give up on the HC and the QB. Giant fans gave up on Bill parcells and Phil Simms, imagine if they ran them out of town? Giant fans gave up on Eli and Coughlin, imagine if they ran them out of town? The difference btw the '07/'11 NYG and '09/'10 NYJ was miniscule, a break here or there and we could be talking about 2 NYJ SBs and 2 title game losses for NYG. Mark was never great but you don't need a great QB to win, just one that can play in big games. The 2nd best QB of this generation w/ MUCH more talent teams and many byes only has 1 SB title. It's not easy to find a QB you can win big w/ , we had one. We sucked all around last year including the QB but it was much more than just the QB. He was in a no win situation a year ago.
Easily they won by 6...but has Geno completed a deep ball since that game? Think about it -- not a 15-20 yard cross a deep pall post pattern, seam route, anything that resembles a bomb? That was he best game with 2 big completions, he had the Atlanta game, and the last 5 have been piss poor. A running back can go for 150 yards one week and not top 50 the rest of the season. You say well he showed something early but isn't delivering now. Plenty of players have a breakout game...the key is to carry that breakout the following games and show improved performance. he hasn't done that...he has gotten worse since those early highlights. Do I want Geno to succeed -- i would like whoever is playing for the Jets to succeed because after 30+ years I like to see the team win more than lose. Right now to see the team win I think it is in the best interest of the team and Geno for him to be benched.
There are little signs this week that suggest the NY media may be starting to get to Geno. There's the article below and he also had some comment sly comment about the NY media in an interview. Nothing a good performance can't cure but we should be on alert nonetheless as in the draft process there were some questions about how he handled adversity. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/11/21/geno-smith-im-not-mark-sanchez/
Right. As a coach, you love it when your players take it easy at the end of the game, right? Mike Pettine, of all people, would absolutely jizz at that sight, amirite? Coaches lie when they preach "Play till the whistle blows." I knew they were fucking liars. Edit: Just look at the play call for crying out loud. Bend-and-don't-break defense will bleed the clock much more profusely than any blitz call ever will. How many prevent call did you see during that stretch? Jesus Christ.
You sound ridiculous. Fine to have different perceptions of what occurred, but Jesus, to pretend that players don't sometimes let down their intensity at the end of a blowout win/loss, that is silly.
I'll counter with Matt Simms probably has 0 first team reps -- ever. He is a scout team QB. He doesn't get to play with that offensive line, those receivers, those backs. He doesn't get to control in game protection calls, audibles, hot reads. Yet he came in with zero preparation other than knowing the playbook and weekly film study in QB meetings and he executed above what Geno has in 5 weeks. Not saying Simms is the answer but he might be a nice spark so get some life back in the team. Also during his two series Colon had to hold a rusher...if they weren't coming there would be no need to hold.
